This game was rad on super nintendo and it's even more rad here. They added lots of new content, including the ability to play as a dog or a lesbian. 10/10 amazing game. Makes you feel very badass to play.

One of, if not my absolute favorite arcade-style game of all time. Beautifully crafted gameplay loop. Stunning, lovingly upgraded pixel art. Incredible modernized versions of an already amazing soundtrack. It's got a great level of challenge, I've spent enough time in the game to where 1ccs are very breezy but still fun & satisfying. It has its flaws. The gameplay isn't going to appeal to everyone, naturally. It can be a bit unwieldy, but that's just the consequence of condensing what probably would've worked better as a twin-stick deal on paper into a SNES-compatible control scheme. As for flaws the remake introduces, the co-op being locked to a certain difficulty dependent on player count is annoying. The new characters are also pretty hit or miss. Doris is fun but not terribly well-balanced or adjusted to really work with the gameplay loop, and Bullet feels both too easy and terribly annoying to play. These are pretty easy to ignore though. Anything else I could say about this game would be redundant. It's just a phenomenal game in a unique subgenre that hasn't been properly replicated. It's brought me a lot of joy over the past couple of years. Here's hoping we see more games built on this type of gameplay, from Natsume or otherwise!

Evergreen. One of the greatest games I have ever played: True for the 90s and now. Must buy, you can't go wrong here.
