Almost equal with semmering (what mean this is very good route). Nice to get missions to both sides climb or keeping foot on brake pedal. Only negative thing/feedback for Dovetail Games is: I don't like first mission (Going South) where you left from Reith platform 1 and your time table is way too tight to reach Leithen. Actually you wont reach even whole station if you drive max speed (60km/h). There is bug where you are not count any braking time. That need add 30-60 seconds more between these stops. I know I get full 1000 pts even I get some late penalty on that stop but I want to be perfect. Fail is not an option, please fix that part. ... Then mission 3 (Innsbruck shuttle). There is same problem as before, timetable is broken. When you leave from station 3 to 4 (Innsbruck hottin to Allerheiligehöhe), there is no way you can be in time there and here you are some penalty points. Then you move to next station from Allerheiligehöhe to Kranebitten... wow you have at least 2.30min overtime there... wtf you guys. Fix, fix, fix.

This route is beatiful and well made. It also includes very nice Talent 2 EMU add-on. Still I have some doubts in recommending this route. The problem is the fact that the route is pretty boring. Apart from some speed changes at the german side you have a constant speed limit of 60 km/h. When you set your AFB you literaly have nothing to do apart from watching beatiful scenery. If you really like this kind of mountain driving I would highly recommend the Albula route instead which is much more challenging. I recommend buing Mittenwaldbahn only as an extension to great Munich-Garmich-Partenkirchen route. It also gives you Talen 2, which is very useful on that there. And with workshop made extention you can then drive from Munich to Innsbruch in one go. Therefore I recommend to buy both of the routes toghether. If not - the Munich-Garmisch Add-on is better alone.
Description
As of 2021, I would recomend you to buy Mittenwaldbahn, if you're into commuter railways, with a sort of scenic touch to them. Formerly, I rated this DLC poorly - mainly for my lack of knowledge about the German safety systems - but after giving them a try and try to learn and understand them, this route can be one of the most challenging/rewarding experiences you can get on Train Simulator.
PROS

Stunning scenery: even with the "dated" graphical engine of TS - compared with the new series TSW - this is one of the most beautiful routes available for purchase on TS store;
Realistic and fully operational safety systems: take a tutorial on the PZB safety system (recomend PTG Rail and Train Simulator's tutorial of MattPlays TV) so you can get fully immersed on the rewarding feeling this route can bring to you;
Very interactive loco and EMU: this DLC comes with the DB BR442 Regio and OBB 2016 locomotive that, in my opinion, are one of the most interactive of the "vanila" Train Simulator.

CONS

Acceleration/Deceleartion ratios of the DB BR442 are unrealistic: even with in "Min Brake" or "Min Throttle", the train gets a pump out of it;
Non-existent background sounds: appart from big stations and when the train is moving, there is absolutely no sound.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I would recomend you this route, as it is one of the most immersive, fun and beautiful routes available for TS. Just learn the PZB safety system and you're in for a treat. 7/10

+ I guess 'beautiful' scenery + BR442 is easy to operate - OBB's AFB is complete trash, though it's still nice to use (just a little harder) - Glitchy speed restrictions without speed signs or overruling signals / speed signs (biggest issue!) - Repetitive and boring, max. speed of 80 KM/h The biggest issue is the broken speed restrictions.

Nice to look at, that's it, the rest is all frustration. Missing speed markers all over the place, AI collisions in quick drive that seem to be invisible, the brakes are laughable, the scenarios because of missing speed signs are annoying, train physics are bizarre to the point of WTF is this. Another case of poor DTG quality control and seemingly no beta testing. I just don't get how you can put so much effort into the scenery and then none into ensuring that the thing works as described. DTG laughing all the way to el banco. Save your money, give this dog a wide berth until it's fixed.

And again just as with the Rhine Railway Mannheim - Karlsruhe a collision with AI without warning. It just bumps into your train. You can't even see the AI Harakiri train. In the good old days 'programmers' tested the stuff they coded. These days lutsers throw it on the market without testing because it is easy money that way. People will pay for it anway even without complaining. You get used to it. I can not advise this Addon. So the mentioned Rhine Railway, No route nor Quick Drive is 100% drivable from begin tell end without a collision. Learned how sloppy Trainsim is working over my dead body I will migrate to the new version. I'm not cruisin' for a bruisin'.

Well the scenery on this route is nothing short of stunning IMO. The catenary has been done correctly which is great to see on the curves. So many other routes have used the incorrect arm arms between posts and the wire. The tunnels are also very nicely finished {no gaps in the entrances into 'space'} I have only done the first 40minute freight scenario and am looking forward to more exploration.

The earlier negative reviews are right on.The scenery is beautiful but you have to keep your eyes glued to the road signs for the speed changes. additionally, stopping the train is not always going to work going downhill. It gets to 1 Km/h and that's it. Open doors and Game Over!! And oh yeah the train collision uphill in quick drive. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. This was the first scenario I tried on TS2018. What a confidence killer. I like the German EMUs but I am hesitant to continue collecting the locos and routes.I should read these reviews before buying more dlcs!

So from what ive played of this dlc so far i have to say, I like it. Sure you may be sitting about for about 40 minutes doing very little in terms of controling your train, but the views.... I can tell that no expense was spared when making this map. 9/10 for scenery and thats something. Now i purchased the package which was the route + 2 trains, and unlike other route add-ons, this one actually comes with a fair few scenarios. (about 3 per train + 3 railfans) So about 12 in total. (i cant remember exactly). If you just go for the route i think youll get 3 scenarios + 3 railfans but i dont know for sure. I did accidentally crash into another train during one of these scanarios due to insufficient signaling in my opinion, but its always fun crashing trains into one another so im not complaining :D Now everyone has differnt opinions on whats good and whats not, but in my personal opinion, this route is a very nice add-on (if for nothing but the view) and I would reccomend atleast trying it out. Im sure you could always get a refund on it if its not to your liking. Overall, id say its a 9.5/10 route.

A very beautiful route. It's not very challenging, however the scenery makes up for that. I found one big problem with this route though. When driving from Innsbruck hbf to Garmisch-Partenkirchen hbf in Quick Drive mode, there is a collision with an AI train. The game itself doesn't warn you: the signs stay green and when looking at the map you can only see your own train. I'd recommend this add-on if this was fixed, because now you can't really enjoy this route to the fullest.
