Due to the negative reviews I was hold back to buy this DLC. Now in the sale I thought what the heck lets do it!
The DLC shows that it is older, there are some issues in de scenery and it does not look as nice as some other routes. Most negative reviews are about this.
If you go a bit more in it, and you can overcome the issues, you will find a very nice circular route with amazing scenery and lots of possibilities.
I think this route is a combination of the Three country corner, Semmering and Mittenwald route. It has single and double tracks.
The delivered locos are outdated not having all the features, except for the BR145 which you will receive seperately in your library.
If you can get it on a sale, it surely is worth its money!

this DLC is like the last jedi. It's just the worst thing that has ever come to TS. Gave it back after 20 minuets played
Edit: they thought I played it for 4 hours, even though I only played it for twenty minutes so they won't give me a refund😑😑😑

Wont put up negative review that easy, but, what a waste of good money this add-on seems to be. The only "pro" I found, is the fact that you will get the payware BR143 as extra add-on in your library.
And thats it.. the only one i found.
It is in de Okay range, nothing fancy. Get it cheap, like, dirt cheap. Then it is recommendable, not for the full price.
I know it is an old add-on, but still, it looks like the producers little niece had done some work for him, what a pathetic excuse for an add-on.
5/10 for me

I would not recommend this DLC at the moment as there are too many bugs. At Sankt Georgen in some scenarios the system failed to tick a successful stop. There are tunnels blocked by either snow or brickwork. Some trains have virtually no sound in the cab. If the bugs can be corrected then great but frustrating driving in its present form.

This route gets a lot of negative reviews, and for good reasons. There's so many graphical bugs, most notably railway tracks not being displayed at most stations, but also floating objects and tunnels that appear closed. Fortunately, these are all visual bugs and you can still keep on driving (so nothing game-breaking).
This route uses older assets and doesn't look as gorgeous as the newer routes. Which is a shame, because the route itself is pretty epic. It's a route through valleys and mountains, which gives a very varying and surprising drive. Speed limits roughly range between 70-100km/h on the double track main lines curving through the mountains, and between 50-60km/h on the single track route to Seebrugg with a 5.5% gradient at it's steepest.
I'm not playing with any of the safety systems, so I wouldn't know if they are functioning well. I also didn't give the scenarios a try yet.
Why do I recommend this route, even with all the flaws it has? The route is epic, if you use a bit of imagination and don't mind the older graphics. It's more mountainious, more forest-y, and more varying than the Semmeringbahn or the Three Country Corner Route. It's also pretty long, and it's priced cheaper than most routes. IMO it's a decent purchase if you love mountainious routes through the forest. But only buy it if you don't mind the flaws it has.

Was nearly put off the Black Forest Journeys: Freiburg-Hausach Route by the bad reviews here, but I got it and am really enjoying it, so not sure why quite so many reviews are negative. OK, some of the very modern technical assets that we are used to are missing, but as a scenic undulating drive that really captures the spirit of the area I think it delivers very well. Some of the scenic parts look as nice as the mountainous areas in the 3 country corner route that I have. It's a long route so any missing scenery and minor bugs I can cope with because the asking price is so low.....it really looks so nice and captures the imagination, which for me is the important thing....

I'm at a loss for words how DTG can consider this as being good enough for Payware. This route was released in Germany a few years ago and was slated by their Community then, nothing has changed since, only about half the route has any scenery, for a start. Save your money, even in the Steam Sales.

This is the worst addon i've played so far. It looks worse than Hagen-Siegen and doesn't even have PZB implemented.
At some places (e.g. Donaueschingen) the railway is not shown and the train hovers over the ground.

This is the worst route i have ever played.
The scenery is very lazily put out and it uses trains we have already seen in the game SO MANY TIMES!!!. Half of it has no scenery and being called black forest journeys is a huge understatemant as most of it is along the Rhine Valley Railway rather than the black forest. I has a tramway with no markers making scenarios hard. All round shit route.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

There is really nothing good to say about this route. The main problem is it's total lack of rail security systems. No PZB magnets to be found anywhere. Driving around is stricktly for sight-seeing. Don't expect the more natural looking catenary wires and curve elevations. The landscape is OK, but not breathtaking beautiful. The houses look a bit "plastic". There are some little annoying landscape errors. For example, floating cars, rail road crossings who are ignored by the cars and tunnels who are blocked by scenery due to missing tunnel foil.
There are some plusses to this route. It's not heavy on the resources and you will get not only the European and American Assets packs, but the BR 145 as well. It is not a straight a-to-b route, but has multiple tracks over a wide area which does makes it a bit more interesting.
If you use train simulator just for casual driving and the whole PZB system gets on your nerves, than this is just the route for you; but I would wait for a sale rather than buy it at the current promo price of EUR 13.39.
Others should avoid it, especially if you already find the Ruhr-Sieg route lacking. The Black Forest Journeys has even less to offer.
