3 reason the first level leave a bad first impression. 1: The starting weapon is a bad weapon for this level. Aside from the ricochet shots that can hit you for massive damage, in a level filled with swamps firing it in the water hurts you. 2: While weak, the enemies blend into the enviroment and are hard to see. Only the moskitos have some good design to them as while they are small, you can hear them. 3: After a the mini boss, it wasn't clear where I was meant to go. And when I did get back on track I encountered an underwater tunnel that killed me if I didn't have enough health. I know I made it further last time I played it since I got to Superfly and hated him as an AI partner but I just wanted to talk about why the first level was bad.

Is this REALLY the worst game ever? I don't know, I couldn't get it to work. I bought it on sale for 75 cents. If had been a dollar I would have asked for a refund.

"I've played every Romero title before this, even on hard difficulties. Wolf3d, Doom, Quake, Quake2" ... "I've played that other EIDOS game or whatever, Deus Ex... but what the hell, I'll set it to the easiest difficulty and just get to know the game, beat it easily." Kind of confused where to go, cant find my way out of the first room on level zero. It all looks like dark green mush. Literally cannot find my way out of a room. Set the brightness all the way up. dead dead. I guess I'm not supposed to fight those turrets. dead dead dead Oh okay, my gun kills me underwater. Not dead, but, hey, where do I go? I guess this gate. It makes fun of me for walking into lasers. dead more times because, where to go? except to jump, and die. Kill a dragon and a fleet of mosquitos. Accidentally walk into the laser door. Stuck. And dying a lot. Check all the keyboard things, is there some function I'm missing? Try shooting things that might be buttons. Try bounching shots into the windows. Nothing. Download the manual and write this review. Best 47 minutes I've ever spent.
