I highly recommend it, it was a nice short souls-like like, the story kept me guessing, the gameplay is nice and clean. However, the dodging is a bit strange compared to what I'm used to, that being the Dark Souls style dodging with potential to spam roll, but that doesn't fly here. The dodge has a very short cool down, so you can't spam roll, you have to time your dodge properly, at least at first, you have the option to augment this with perks laterThis also goes with the parry system, it has a built-in parry system thats vary rewarding and has a skill tree for it to boost it even though some of the timing can be a bit strange for some attacks. I enjoyed the perk system, it was nice that you could swap them at any rest point to better fit the current situation instead of being locked into a set skill tree. There is a leveling system like normal souls, but there is a lot less variety, but I'd argue each level is more impactful due to it. There is a basic alchemy system which is a major theme of the whole game, but I didn't really mess with it till late game, you just use different ingredients to upgrade your potions or combine specific ones to give a special buff. The story over all was good but one of the few very minor complants was there was no voice acting for the characters at least in terms of diologe which to some might be a plus but i would have liked it, over all i really enjoyed it and at under 30 hours to 100% i'd def say its worth a play thought. This also goes with the parry system, it has a built-in parry system that's very rewarding and has a skill tree that boosts it, even though some of the timing can be a bit strange for some attacks. As for level design, it's fairly linear, it's pretty similar to the first Dark Souls with how it's designed, but it's good, and they keep each stage interesting. If you're looking for a short souls like to play or are on the fence, i definitely recommend it.

I finished Wuchang a few days ago and was getting motion sickness from all the backflips and teleporting the bosses were doing. The second I saw the first real boss in this game I knew I already liked him more than anything I'd faced in that. The game is short, the enemies lack variety, and combat can get repetitive if you lean too heavily on an easy build, but these are some of the best boss designs I've ever seen and the combat systems had me wanting more.

I recommend the game but only while on significant sale. They got the hardest part of making a game like this right: the combat. So many developers release something Souls or Sekiro like without having a real vision or creating a good rhythm in battle. They mostly nail the flow here. It's just held back by the fact that it's so short and has limited enemy variety. It feels like it could have been a real contender in the genre if they were given the time to build all the ideas I'm sure they had. I'm definitely at least interested in seeing if this studio gets the chance to make a larger game.

The combat works fine and this is the most important part. Graphics reminds me a bit of mobile 3D apps. Music is really good. Camera can get often in the way, which is annoying. Bosses are not bad. It was really frustrating though, when fighting one of the hardest bosses, slowly getting better with it and then it got stuck in the wall. No way to restart, other then playing the whole level again, which I didnt feel like, as it was not really good. So I had to kill it there, without it fighting back, so I felt quite cheated. Overall the game felt ok, but not so great to make me play again after one playthrough.

This game has some cool concepts and ideas but sadly it feels unfinished and poorly executed.
Environment is boring, it feels like you are in blightown all the time. Just ladders and wooden platforms...come on..surely it could be made a bit more diverse without too much additional effort.
What really put me off the game was the gimmick boss level. I wonder what happens in devs minds, like they intentionally ruin their own game which is nothing special in the first place. But they just want to make it even more annoying and unplayable. If you make a 15 min long gimmick level at least put one checkpoint in it somewhere in the middle. They just keep missing the point. Every sinle time these games want to be like Dark Souls or Sekiro but they just don't get it. Souls games are not about being similar to eachother but the overall experience of the game. I am so tired of hearing: ohh yeah it is a soulslike and every soulslike game has to have a gimmick boss. Why is that? Make something new, something fresh, while following the concept formula that actually works.
Combat feels sloppy and unresponsive and the whole wound system is annoying AF.
Until we get some good ones again I am just done experimenting with these new so called souls games. It is apparently a thing now and the whole genre is getting de-genred by becoming mainstream now.

If you're looking for a fast-paced action title to burn through in a few sittings, Thymesia is definitely worth checking out. The combat is snappy and satisfying, with a parry system that feels responsive and a feather-throw mechanic that’s chaotic fun. The boss fights are the highlight—visually impressive, mechanically engaging, and well-paced. The game’s atmosphere, background music, and level design contribute nicely to its grim, plague-ridden tone.
However, once you step back and compare it to other Soulslike titles, Thymesia starts to pale. It lacks the depth and exploration that genre fans might expect. The world isn’t open, and the level design is fairly limited. Subquests reuse the exact same maps as the main quests, just with different spawn points. Exploration is minimal and detail in the environments isn’t particularly rich.
For achievement hunters, this game can be frustrating. While the main story will take about 8 hours to complete, going for 100% will test your patience. One baffling requirement involves destroying a ridiculous number of barrels—was someone on the dev team a closet Atelier fan? And the drop rate for crafting ingredients is absurdly low, even with high luck stats. I found myself grinding well over 100 pulls for certain materials.
Another drawback is the limited boss variety. Some fights are recycled with only minor changes, which feels like a missed opportunity.
In the end, I wish there was a way to leave a neutral recommendation. It’s not strong enough for a full thumbs-up, but it’s definitely not bad either. Let’s just say: it’s a fun little ride—if you're in it for the quick thrill and not the 100% completion badge.

Overall very good skill-check/ souls-like experience. The game-play is difficult but very satisfying. the first Boss was definitely just there to filter out the noobs and showcase what the game is about. Soundtrack is overall good. barely came across any bugs and/ or glitches. My only somewhat peculiar observation is that the game is pretty short. You can tell they were on a very tight budget. They absolutely nailed it with what they had though. Would definitely recommend buying the game

What a great game. I just recently started getting into souls games around last year big fan of Elden Ring, DS3, Elden Ring Nightreign, I really enjoy getting perfect parries like sekiro. The graphics are absolutely amazing one of the best souls likes ive ever played amazing job devs its so cinematic. All the gameplay ive seen is so unimaginably beautiful I love the art style. The part i really enjoy about it is the graphically stunning games ive ever seen.

Thymesia is a solid souls-like that really clicked with me thanks to its fast, aggressive combat system. It doesn’t try to be overly complex — it just wants you to get in, dodge, strike, and keep the pressure up. And honestly? That’s where it shines.
People say the story isn’t that deep, but for me it works. Souls-likes were never known for deep storytelling anyway — it’s more about mood, hints, and putting things together yourself. And in that sense, Thymesia delivers.
