Idk what i could say without being hated... but this Game is not a sequel that i expected from Axiom Verge 1...

A letdown from the first AV. Atmosphere is gone, story is tame and emotionally not engaging. The world is boring, the main protagonist of the first AV is absent and the new main character is an unsufferable, inhumane trope. The game is based around melee combat, shooting takes a siderole - do not buy if you like Axiom Verge.

Classic Metroidvania. Gerne einen dritten Teil raushauen.

Axiom Verge 2 has a great retro feel and offers alot of fun exploring the game world. It's a must have for metroidvania fans. The developer Tom Happ provides enjoyable pixel artwork, music and gameplay, woven into a solid level design. Some things feel a bit tricky, some parts are strange, but it's an overall great experience. The story itself is interesting and matches the sci-fi genre well. Collecting all the crumps of informations stored on collectibles is pretty time consuming, though. The replay value is mediocre for casual players because of its high emphasis of drone shape. Compared to the previous game "Axiom Verge", it feels like quite some technical improvements and functions found their way into the game. However, the style of the successor game "Axiom Verge 2" has completely changed. It's far less about weapons and shooting enemies and much more avoiding fights, because that consumes alot of time and fighting doesn't feel rewarding, most of the time. The content of the game is fair, although it seems smaller than the first game. Axiom Verge 2 has few downsides. None of these impose a reason for serious complaints, though. There are a few strange decisions regarding the gameplay. No matter what players fight, it takes plenty of hits. It doesn't make fights more interesting or difficult. It just takes time and most players will soon prefer to just jump over and past enemies. After a while, the most interesting shape to use is the drone for movability, speed, combat and almost everything else. Players will also find themself teleporting all over the place and worlds so often and so fast. This can pull a player out of immersion. It can also drop tension and excitement level to zero, because character death has pretty much no impact. This exposes etremely at the last "boss fight". That fight wasn't exciting or interesting, but it was stylish. Axiom Verge 2 has far less equipment and weapons than the previous game. In fact, it itsn't much but that's not a bad thing. The introduction of a skill system for improvements is simple and alright. It's nothing refined but it works just fine. A surprise is the limited utilization of equipment. At some point, players can optain a weapon (hammer) and an ability to slam down upon enemies or the ground. It could be great to break through walls but instead, the game is much more about teleporting around and switching between two world for limited puzzle solving. It's still great work but the game does not live up to its potential. To sum it up: Axiom Verge 2 has a few quirks and oddities but it's fun and stylish. If we disregard "graphic blenders", the game could easily challenge many top titles of genres "platformer" and "metroidvania" and beat them. I can't say it beats the first Axiom Verge game but it does a great job.
