50/100

Short & Simple
A downgrade of the original in all but graphics Positives

404
Negatives

The game lacks challenge and feels simplistic in its mechanics. Money is useless and so are most of the guns, weapon mods and biomods.
Your character can eat several bullets in Realistic difficulty. In Deus Ex, a stray headshot would kill you even in full health.
Interaction with NPCs is limited. Guards won't always stop you from getting into places you shouldn't be in. Even the NPCs know that money is useless as you can steal it in front of them with no consequences.
Loading a save after opening the game would freeze my PC roughly 30% of the time.
Highest available resolution is 1024p
16 hours of gameplay, less if you are not a completionist. This could be a positive if you don't enjoy wasting your time
I have no enemies, merely topographies of ignorance

Wish I could play this game with my controller but even resorting to keyboard and mouse, this game is just as good now as when i first played it in 2004. Brilliant game. Again, wish I could play it with my controller!!!!

Do not buy this game on Steam. It is extremely unstable and barely runs without having to troubleshoot constantly. I was able to finish the game but it was such an annoyance dealing with issues such as the game not loading in, creating new processes with each time you load a save.

This is a dumbed down version of the first Deus Ex. The story isn't as good and the game is broken on Steam. If it's on sale or part of a bundle, you might want to pick it up but I wouldn't pay full price. [To fix the black screen during loading screen error, open Task Manager > Details > DX2Main.exe > Analyze Wait Chain and stop or uninstall whatever is causing the problem. You might need to install the Visible Upgrade mod first and switch to windowed mode in order to switch windows during the black screen.]

I personally think this is the best one, by far. I just love the vibe. Best story. First thing that stands out to me is the story. The dialogue and quality of the voice actors is way ahead of it's time. I just remember all those years ago on the OG Xbox how this one just felt right. Human Revolution felt too stiff, Mankind Divided lacked a lot of challenge and story. This one feels right at home. Kidneythieves in the soundtrack, Bruce Somers on musical composition if memory serves right. If you're cool with a 'retro' game....for .97 cents, I'd say you have nothing to lose.

Amazing experience - was able to remind myself how to close down NVIDIA Shadowplay, Steam Overlay, set single core, set up different compatibility modes (INCLUDING Win 98 OMG THAT WAS a NOSTALGIC MOMENT Y'ALL!!!!); Also, realized how cool to Google around and download different mods, patches, and fixes all across GitHub and the internet - literally felt like a true JC Denton hacker! Ow, what about the game? Sorry, completely forgot to mention - It's just doesn't work after character creation. Cheers!

Deus Ex: Invisible War is an immersive sim that blends RPG and FPS mechanics, offering players multiple ways to tackle missions. The ability to choose between a male and female protagonist was quite impressive for a game released in 2003. Gameplay variety is excellent, allowing both stealth and direct combat approaches. However, enemy AI is weak, and the game suffers from noticeable graphical issues. The universal ammo system, combined with more bugs and a less engaging story, makes this game weaker compared to the previous Deus Ex. It's worth playing once, but the previous Deus Ex was undoubtedly better. 6/10
