Stations have detailed signage and clutter Graphics are a step up from MSTS The never-ending stretch of the 60mph speed limit is very relaxing and hypnotic. Given the astonishing quality of the included Class 158, I would say it is worth every penny of the £3 the route cost at the time of purchase.

Nice casual route, stations are lovely, plenty of medium quality rolling stock and a basis for several DLC. The main trains (66, 158) are available in better quality elsewhere. Given the lower price point, it can be recommended. A few things to note. - While it is gorgeous during Summer, scenery for the other seasons is greatly reduced. There are sections where all the scenery there is are stone fence walls on basic ground. Flowers, tall grass, bushes, all gone. A few trees apart, 60% of the route is barren like that. - Couplers get progressively worse over long runs, causing noticeable amounts of head bob. - Quick drive scenarios using the LMS 4F fail to load.

The Settle and Carlisle is a classic that should be added to anyones inventory. For an old route it still holds well, and is not buggy unlike newer routes. There are plenty of scenarios in the workshop you can download that are very focused on specials, whcih is what this line is famous for. It a fun route, and full of detail, recommended for everyone.

The Class 158 headlight bug is years old now. It would be nice if DTG put a couple of people to finally correct the typos in the code at least as a final goodbye but it will never happen of course. Don't buy this DLC as it has bugs and developers will never return to correct them.

I bought this route in a 'Limited Edition' Bundle with an American Route 'Sherman Hill'. This is clearly the one I prefer though. The Settle to Carlisle Route is beautiful in real life & looks just as breathtaking in Train Simulator. I've been to both Ribblehead Viaduct & Garsdale Station in reality, and they're both rendered fantastically in this DLC. Not to mention that scenarios are plentiful - it's hard to complain about such a nice thing, but I've got two little not-quite-niggles... Firstly, the AWS on the Class 66 is louder & clearer when you're on a Camera View outside of the Cab. This is incorrect, as you should only be able to hear it when you're in the cab. The other, again only a minor one, is that the steam engines in this pack should technically have AWS fitted if they're are Mainline-Certified. I don't mind though, the rolling stock in this scenario is fantastic. For a start is the LMS Jubilee 'Leander' - this is a joy to drive, what with great chuffing sound-effects. It takes expertise to drive it on this route though, as they didn't call the Settle-Carlisle line 'The Long Drag' for nothing... the 4F is interesting, as is the scenario it comes with & for other passenger runs, you get the Class 158 DMU's in 'Northern Rail' livery. For the freight enthusiasts, there's the common Class 66 & the Class 37, both in EWS Livery. The Class 66, despite it's flaw with the AWS, is great to drive - again, a real challenge on this route even with an unloaded train. And the Class 37's are enjoyed by many, nick-named 'Tractors' because of the tremendous clag they make! Overall, I'd say definitely go for this route. It's a looker, has great rolling stock & scenarios a-plenty - a fantastic slice of North England, rendered just as nicely as it is in reality.

i have just purchased this mod (along with the class 158/159 sound pack from armstrong powerhouse) and i am very pleased with its quality, it is certainly worth it, however the headlights on all the northern class 158's do not work (player and AI trains) can anyone help? Thanks

Good stretch of track and really scenic! Has lots of locos and wagons, the sounds are amazing, you can basically have it in any time period you want, and it is good to use if your making a workshop route! 10/10 amazing!

I bought this route back in 2013 and I would like to say it came with a few locos to drive with plus a 158 DMU. Mainly because I had remember doing this route with the A3 Flying Scotsman (which is sold seperatly) back in MSTS. There's mostly standard scenarios than career but this is a early made route. Also this route would be a classic to your Train Simulator collection. The 158 doesn't show the right headlight aspects, it will show the red tailights on both sides. If you own the 158 pack then you could possibly swap the defualt 158 for that. The doors won't open at stations unlike in other TS DLC out there. The other trains that comes with this route which I don't have a problem with. It could be my best bet to buy this on a sale and I will rate this route add-on 7/10.

Good level, plenty of free rolling stock. If you like the Carlisle to Settle line, then you can have a lot of fun with this... Also if you own WCML upto Glasgow, it connects up the lines... Thus you can go from Settle to Glasgow, if you own both the Route add on's. Which can be a lot of fun...

Essential ... a lot of people will reccommend this route simply because its iconic, there is much truth in that however it really is only a medium length point-to-point route which once you have driven up and down it a few times will become tired fairly quickly ... The real reason to get this route is its a survivor from the now mythical past of TS, back when Train simulator was good, the developers actually cared and DLC represented value for money and quality, This DLC shines and is a must buy for anyone wanting to build a collection of suitable rollingstock while getting the best value for money ... Settle to Carlisle comes with an astonishing 5 drivable assets and a heap of extra rolling stock. Because S2C been around for a long time and lots of people have it this rolling stock has become a common requirement for many community and third party scenarios. S2C will give you access to more scenarios than virtually any other DLC making it even more value for money. Think of S2C as an awesomely good value asset pack with a pretty good free route chucked in with it.
