Very nice job again DTM...My favorite diesel sound the V 20....Love the livery's just the right amount of "road use" on the outside. Very happy I bought another DTM SD40T-2!.........TWO FIXES needed.........Couplers need there paint ( white )...and on both non "L " window cabs..there is a gap on the drivers window at bottom between rubber and body..not very much to really bother...but would be nice to have this fixed as well...hopefully a update may come soon !..all in all GREAT LOCO...THANKS!!!

Edit: As of June 1, 2019, I have contacted DTM about the Dynamic brake issue. They have sent me a fix and said anyone who messages them on Facebook can also get it immediately that way. They fix will also be uploaded to Dovetail but it usually takes them a good while to around to updating the software via Steam.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm recommending this because there is so many wonderful things about this locomotive - but it has does have one huge nearly game breaking problem. For me at least. The dynamic brakes are not registered on either the ammeter OR the HUD. You feel them go into effect (the cab jerks) and you will get the braking effect, but nothing shows they are working.
Moving on... There's a lot that's really good!
The locomotive itself has an excellent horn! As most will know that's pretty unusual with Train Simulator. The engine sounds are good as well and the winter "skin" is nicely done. Cars that come with the pack include a winter look as well so they don't stand out next to the locomotive when running through snow.
The outside of the locomotive is fantastic! The inside is pretty good. The only complaint here is that the speedometer light is so bright it glares and you can't read it. This happens with or without the cab light.
The scenarios are a bit lackluster and unimaginative but they're not boring. For instance one begins with something very much like, "You may start." They do run in different times and weather as well as on different areas of the route showing it off nicely.
Overall, I much enjoy driving it... Until I get to a downhill. Get it on a good sale for a nice addition to your Southern Pacific Fleet until and unless the dynamic brake issues are fixed. It'd be darn near perfect without that problem.
The listing at the bottom says 5 career scenarios but names 4. There are 4.
+ Outside texture/color.
+ inside texture/color.
+ Sounds. Both engine and horn are excellent.
+ All scenarios work properly without problems.
- For some reason all the gauge lights look really nice except the speedometer. It is unreadable form the bright back light.

This is a must buy for any SP fans out there. The sounds are DTM's amazing 20 cylinder 645 prime mover soundset. There are 3 different paint schemes to use (Bloody Nose / Kodachrome / Speed Lettering) that look great. There are many in-cab controls especially for the lights. You can control the front and rear headlights brightness, the front and rear class lights, the number lights, and you can control the Gyralights which is great. Do be aware that the couplers have missing textures, but you can find a fix for it here: https://pcrailworks.wixsite.com/pacificoastrailworks/fixes Just be sure to follow their instructions and you should be able to fix this problem.

I was VERY disappointed in this DLC for the issues it has.
The horn and bell arent very loud and clear, they sound like they'd be found in a low budget game asset from 2005, it arrived with missing coupler textures on the locomotives, at least in snow texture. Speaking of textures, I didn't find them very defined on the exterior. Dynamic brake fans don't look right in snow, Gyralight is not bright and oscillates to the right side only. And most annoying, the scenarios, or at least one, thrown in are cruel, -1k point penalties for lateness you can't avoid. The light shine on this DLC is only really the rollingstock, it comes with PFE mechanical refrigerator cars that are hard to come across, and they also have snow weathering, but those alone are not worth $20 USD, and not even $10 which is what I paid for sale deal.
I was able to observe all of this in the span of about 10 minutes.

This is honestly a pass from me. I got it on sale, with low expectations, and was still unpleasantly surprised. The locomotive in and of itself is not wildly different enough to constitute yet another SD45 DLC pack. Sounds are identical, cab is identical, performance is identical, somehow the texturing looks worse, and the rolling stock is more rehashed stuff we've already seen. It's certainly not enough to charge another 20 bucks for yet another variant, but I really wouldn't go for it on sale either. Its just not enough "difference" to say yay, another SD45......

Definitely one of DTM's better products
Sounds -
The Prime Mover sounds pretty good. Is it Searchlight 20-645E3 quality of good? absolutely not, but it's a good upgrade compared to other products in the sound department.
Horn -
Not much to say here, the horn isn't very good and has a very noticeable looping.
Bell -
Same thing with the horn, not particularly good and leaves a lot to be desired
Exterior -
The exterior is pretty solid. Certain areas like the trucks and wheels could be touched up but overall it's not bad. The only glaring problem I've found is with the top of the Kodachrome's nose. The top of the nose was black and not red.
Interior -
Really no complaints with the interior. Interior looks used and grimy (which it should) and not like it's brand new with other products.
The only thing that really hold's this pack is the missing texture for the couplers. It is an easy fix however, shoot DTM an email or message him on Facebook and he'll send you the fix for the coupler and a few other things.
Rolling Stock -
Nothing particularly special apart from the Twin Stacks. The box cars and everything else you can get for free off of Golden Age Of Railroading.
If you're a sucker for Espee stock, get it. These puppies fit right in on Tehachapi & Mount Shasta

The loco is fine outside, both textures and sounds.
The coupler mentioned in multiple negative reviews, is OK in 2022 (probably, DTG replaced the package with correct one).
The thing I don't like is physics. The locomotive going to wheel slip easily, even on flat dry surface.
Dynamic brake is barely usable, doesn't slow down the train in the speed range where it should be the most effective (15-25 MPH).
Train brake also very abrupt and ineffective. Either too little or too much. It's impossible to maintain speed of the train going downhill on 2% grade.... basically you can only stop it with emergency brake

So, This is one of my favorite American Locomotives, and i never thought I'd see it in Train Simulator, and its the normal DTM flair, exelent detail, Working lights with DIM MID and BRIGHT settings. the gyrolight works too, as does the emergency light.
its not without issues however, the coupler's texture is broken and is an error message, the bell is WAY to soft and part of me thinks the dynamic brakes are too effective, at notch 2 I was slowing a fairly large train down on a 2.3 grade. my only other gripe with this product is the Gray used doesnt match the rest of the SP locomotives, but I'm blaming that on DTG not DTM, i'll have to do some skinning to tone down the default donner pass grey to match.

COMES BROKEN RIGHT OFF THE BAT UNLESS YOU HAVE ANOTHER CERTAIN DLC.
Right out of the box the locomotive's coupler shows a missing texture placeholder that is white, yellow, and black. It has been like this since day one and numerous attempts to alert both Digital Train Model and Dovetail Games to the issue have fallen on deaf ears. It's a real shame because otherwise it's a great pack, but I cannot and will not endorse this addon until this issue is rectified.
If you have the Western Pacific GP35 pack, by some crazy set of circumstances that will fix it, but that is only because of some anomoly in the game's file structure.
I will be happy to edit/delete this review and replace it with a positive one once the real fix has been put through. This should have been addressed shortly after it was discovered. It's an absolute shame and disgrace that such an easy bug to fix has been blatantly ignored by both the developer and publisher.
