Firstly read the manual. update Jan 2021, this aircraft is still worth getting its one of the best DLC you can get. This is a good aircraft to have it flies very well, there's plenty of switches to use, most do something or at least click, however there are about six large knobs that say they control "red back ground lights" on the pilots & co pilots panels etc, but they don't work? The nose wheel steering is very precise, (once you get used to it). if you have a mouse wheel it's superb to use. The altitude selector and V/Spd is slightly different from what I'm used to, you have to select your cruise height say 18000 feet, then use the thumb wheel on centre pedestal to increase your climb speed with Auto Pilot on, this airplane won't level out as you get to the 18000 feet. You have to manually decrease the V/Spd down to zero climb, that is once you get close to the 18000 foot mark. if you don't, you'll climb onwards and upwards. once you stop the climb the auto pilot keeps you at your desired height. do the same for your decent. The aircraft sounds are pretty spot on, the turbine sounds are very good (just turn up your head phones) it's a 9/10 for this one, if the red lights were working it could be 10/10.

The Dc-8 is good with controls and graphics it has everything in detail except accessibility. It’s almost impossible to use the very bad auto pilot. There’s no quick pop up screens. If the developer is to fix that it is good. Update July 14 2020 I have figured out the auto pilot works well as long as you read the pdf explains how it works basically for cruising you need to set a rate of climb and monitor the altimeter when your at the disease altitude switch the altitude switch from vertical speed to pitch speed and back to level out the plane. Please add the 50-70 it’s so good just please add more variants and make the livery’s easier to read and add more livery’s. I recommend it if you have some sense of flying. Another update. The engines flame out two at a time once certian fuel tanks are empty all you got do is select the alternate tanks for the engine than restart the engine. Also the range varies but I believe it’s for the aircraft about 2,500 to 3000 nautical miles. Update nov 11 the range is approximately at 40,000 feet the fuel burn is 16,000 an hour. The range is on the 30 and 40 -3,500-4,500 nautical miles. And the 20 and 10 can fly about 2,500 nautical miles. The plane is fantastic no flight control issues but one the rudder seems to always make the plane look like it’s in a side slip. Variations of livery’s are for airlines all over the world so fly from where ever you want to realistically.

Awesom plane. Good manual. The fuel tank labeling are messed up but a good preflight tutorial on YouTube shows all the steps and witch tank is witch (the video are in P3D sim but same in FSX). Autopilot are so simple that it's hard to figure out, but when you understand it... Transition between vertical and level flight are manual.

This is an amazing plane to fly! While it maybe a touch more then what most new pilots maybe use to; it is VERY enjoyable.. She has power for days an is a really nice feeling plane, the auto-pilot takes some getting use to an I will not let any spoilers to that out, but have fun working it out! There is no FMS as this is a pre computer controlled plane. I have been flying it with a human co-pilot an we have been having a blast! Worth the cost!

the dc-8 is one of my favorite to fly, once i read the manual. the fuel transfer didn't work so i have to manually transfer fuel. also the ils fails,it goes into a nose dive most of the time so i manually land it. the only problem is ,i remember allot of exhaust smoke with this aircraft when i watched it take off and this dlc doesn't show that much if any. all my dlc aircraft has a check list as i and everyone operating all aircraft has to have and since i'm use to it, i constantly use it without the grease pencil of course.ha,ha. this a great buy and it doesn't stay in my hanger for long.

For those getting "Aircraft Initialization failure", the solution is fairly simple. Go to the respective DLC option for the DC-8, then open the aircraft configs for each aircraft in the simobjects folder and replace the circle between DC-8*# with an E for each [fltsim.#] instance. Hope this helps, this is a really nice aircraft. (I will answer questions in comments if need be)

I really wanted to fly the DC-8 in FSX, but it said "aircraft installation failure" when I was trying to open. Does anyone have a solution to fix that?

Not recommended for beginner but one of the best justflight airplane, if you noob read manual instead writing negative reviews. Good job justflight, add 50-70 series :).
