IGN/10 (7.8/10), the story was really weak especially the final boss; compared to Ys Seven.
It's okay to play but the camera is somehow even worse than it was in their last game, way more nauseating and too close up during boss fights which is a huge problem is the boss moves behind you or if the camera decides to look at something else and the boss hits you hard and you die cause you can't see to flash guard/move from the attack. It's also a mapping game, so FACE SMEAR everything back and forth, forth and back when you're out and about otherwise it'll be pure annoyance when you're trying to figure out what you missed.
Framerate seems to really be the only real improvement, so its a play if you really want to or skip if you don't want to possibly vomit (there is a hotkey to "target" but it only shows things like weakness info or health, it doesn't do anything for camera). I liked playing with the Japanese voices so that's a nice little update from how it was when it first came to Steam (wished I could play Seven with Japanese voices too).
!!!ALSO, big spiders = arachnaphobics be warned!!!

Really more of a thumb sideways, but ultimately there was a bit more here that disappointed me than stuff I enjoyed.
The combat is reasonably good. It didn't blow me away, but it does what it's supposed to and mostly I had fun with it. The story is pretty underwhelming. What really tips this to a thumbs down for me, though, is the exploration. There's just not a whole lot there - you run over a bunch of fields and uncover areas under fog of war, and that's kind of it. Compared both to reference points like various Legend of Zelda games, and to newer titles in the Ys series, it doesn't feel like there's a whole lot there. Memories has a real problem with forgetting the new traversal tools you get as soon as you leave the dungeon you got them in. At best there are some underwater chests that you can spend a kind of unreasonable amount of time backtracking to for some pretty okay accessories once you get the swimming artifact.
If you're a massive Ys junkie, you've already played half the series and you're craving more, you probably don't need me to tell you that you'll like this game too. If you're not, though, I can't really recommend this compared to a lot of other games in the same vein.
Also I kind of want the concept of UI design to physically manifest just to punch whoever decided that your "character-specific interact with objects on the field to solve puzzles" button and your EXTRA skill button (your limit break, basically) should be the *same* button square in the junk. You can at least decouple the binds in the menu, but it sure is a jump scare the first time you waste an entire gauge of important combat resource when you're a quarter inch off where the game thinks you should be to pick a lock or see a memory.

Great addition for YS fans. More like YS Seven with the swapping mechanic that the series takes currently. Its a port from the Vita. More relaxed from YS Origins, 1&2, Oath, and Ark, but that's welcomed if you've played them and want to keep exploring Adol's story with less aneurysm indusing boss battles, but still feels satisfying.

Great game and story alike. Not sure why they say it is unsupported on deck, i've already uncovered 30% of the map and it works fine. All i did was disable the shadows at the opening settins (which didn't even disable the shadows lol)
