The game flips back and forth between being great and being tedious. Hack n Slash stuff is 8/10, with only 2 real complaints. 1. That you are forced to play reactively. You always must play by the boss' rules and are punished until you wait and react the way that the game wants you to. If you keep attacking and parrying the bosses counterattacks, the boss can just decide to infinitely dodge all of your attacks until you stop and let them have a turn. 2. There are set animations that play when you are hit by a grab attack, follow up on a charged attack and attack after a perfect parry. These animations are all about 5 seconds long and break the flow of the fight imo This should have been the part of the game that was focused on and refined. I could easily see this game being excellent if that were the case. Unfortunately, this game is split 50/50 with being a Hack'n'Slash and being a Bullet Hell. The Bullet Hell half of the game consists of dodging attacks for what can be upwards of a minute at a time before you are allowed to deal any damage to the boss again, or dodging attacks for what can be upwards of a minute at a time while you are firing a crappy little pistol that does very little damage and sounds like it should deal even less. It's just boring. Let me hit the boss. There are some bosses that are entirely a bullet hell, with no melee combat, and they are EASILY the worst boss fights in the game, feeling like they stretch on for way, way too long. There isn't much of a "story" but what is there is fairly interesting, with a long walk to the next fight while a character gives you some vague worldbuilding or hypes up the next boss. Music is excellent for the most part. Some absolute bangers. But there are some duds as well, such as one of the final bosses having maybe the most forgettable track in the game. TL:DR - Great Hack'n'Slash game dragged down by slow and tedious Bullet Hell sections. 7/10

Furi is one of the best games that I have ever played. It is immensely challenging and rewarding as you get better with the combat. Combat is simple, slash, shoot, dodge and parry are your main options. How you weave these together into a flow is what makes a difference. You will fail again and again but rise better each time. On top of the gameplay, there is a top notch story and immaculate OST in the background. The visuals give a great 80s synthwave/vaporwave and cyberpunk style that I also adore. Overall, a masterpiece of a game. Fair warning, it is quite challenging. Not for the faint of heart. But give it a chance and you won't be disappointed.

This game is very good, meets all the criteria for a great indie game, fire OST, great gameplay, compelling story, and a unique visual style. In all of these regards there is nothing to complain about. The only criticism I am capable of giving this game, is my extreme dislike of the final boss. The only thing that kept me going through that... experience, was wanting the true ending, as well as it having one of the best tracks in the game. If it were not for those factors, I may have never finished this game. From here on out, there will be extreme spoilers for the game, I highly recommend it, but this is an issue big enough that I can't really avoid mentioning it.
The final boss of this game was quite possibly the greatest fall off of any game in history. The melee segments are removed and your moveset is altered. Now this wouldn't be too much of a problem if the game introduced the new moveset beforehand... It doesn't. That could also be excused, because there isn't really a point story wise for that to happen... So, what if the boss starts out slow. It doesn't. You are thrown straight into the hardest boss of the game, with different controls, and no tutorial. That could also be excused if the fight was a short, climatic battle, to end off the story. It isn't. This fight is FIVE phases long. FIVE. For a Furi boss that isn't unreasonable, but this just culminates in each attempt taking upwards of like twenty minutes... Now, I enjoy difficult games, a sense of achievement after overcoming great difficulty is one of the main reasons I play games like this. Well designed, balanced fights that tend to be difficult I normally really like (Ex: Absolute Radiance, Sword Saint Isshin, Etc.). This is one of the first bosses to get me to search for outside help out of pure frustration I have ever experienced, and to my shock, one of the first results on how to dodge the attack I was stuck on just said "It isn't within reason for a human to dodge every hit of it, so you're better of just saving all your health for this attack, and ending the phase before it happens again." What?! That being genuine, unironic advice is borderline diablocial... How this fight has a higher difficulty I am baffled. Thankfully, there's an additional fight once you've beaten the game that follows and uses the games core mechanics to the fullest, like the main bosses did. This addition truly does make up for the abomination that is "The Star", but this fight is only accessible hidden in one of the menus after the game has been beaten, which kinda sucks because a lot of people would miss it.
Anyways, in conclusion, this game is still fantastic, and I still greatly recommend it, also it's relatively not that expensive, even better if you get it on a sale. Overall verdict: 8/10

I normally don't like these type of games cause i'm trash at them. But the world building and soundtrack really make this game like a cinematic experience.

This has gotta be one of my all time favorites. Practically the perfect game. Just one boss fight after another with great music, unique battles, and escalating difficulty. They've got action RPG gameplay mixed with bullet hell. Its honestly pretty damn HLD now that I think about it. But that ain't an issue. Plus they've got that mysterious story you learn a little bit more about with each fight. This is fun.

Great game. A little hard if you're not used to bullet-hell type games but not impossible. Music is fantastic, combat is fun and rewarding.

All the fights in Furi all feel fair and well balanced and are super fun to engage with. The soundtrack is one of the best I have ever heard, seeing Carpenter Brut made music for Furi absolutely hyped me up. The game also has some good quotes that go very hard. "We all have choices to make. We all have to decide what's worth fighting for." "Excellence is not an art, it's pure habit. We are what we repeatedly do." "He who knows no fear knows no courage. I take mine from you. We are what we fight for."

Amazing game, amazing music, thought provoking story that sticks with you. Please understand that the game is made extremely hard ON PURPOSE, it literally designed to not be for the faint of heart! It is for the patient, persistent, relentless players. This isn't a game where you can overlevel and conquer a tough challenge, the game itself IS THE CHALLENGE. If that's what you want out of a game, look no further.
