DOOM (2016) is a fast-paced shooter that puts a lot of attention on movement and direct combat. The controls respond quickly, and the action stays intense with many different enemy types that push you to stay active. Levels are designed with more than one route, which makes exploring more interesting compared to other shooters.
Visually, the game is sharp and detailed. The lighting and effects help create a heavy and tense atmosphere, whether you're in a high-tech setting or somewhere more chaotic and strange. The game engine is well-optimized, running smoothly even on systems that meet only the basic requirements. The soundtrack changes with the action and adds intensity to combat, while sound effects are powerful and clean, especially during heavy fights.
I started playing this game after completing DOOM 1, DOOM 2, and their expansions, as well as DOOM 3 BFG Edition, which includes both of its DLCs. Coming from those titles, this game brings a more modern approach while still maintaining the older style. It delivers fast action, polished visuals, and extra content that gives it lasting power. This is also the first FPS game I have completed fully using a controller instead of keyboard and mouse, which made the experience quite different but still very manageable.
Overall, DOOM (2016) is a well-made shooter that focuses on speed, control, and direct combat. Its detailed visuals, strong audio, and smooth performance help build an intense experience. With both single-player and multiplayer modes, along with extra tools for custom content, it offers a solid amount of gameplay.

Man, oh man, what a freaking great game this was. I honestly loved every blinking second of it. It truly epitomizes what Doom has always been about — fast-paced, high-adrenaline action, fighting and killing legions from hell. SEND THEM BACK!!!
I played the OG Doom games way back when I was younger, and this is somehow equally satisfying — maybe even better. Chainsawing those pink monsters is still just pure joy, 30 years later (JESUS, I really wrote that... damn, has it been that long already?)
Doom still has some of the best single-player mechanics around. The graphics are top-notch and deliver every step of the way. Even the final boss — yeah, it looks a bit blocky and outdated, like something from OG Doom — but hey, you can’t have it all, right? The game is insanely well-optimized and runs flawlessly on PC. I'm not even a big gamer — running an RTX 3060 — and didn’t have a single hiccup the entire time.
The music is phenomenal, and I'm not even a fan of heavy metal. But here? It hits differently. The sound design and effects are on another level. The immersion is off the charts — this is one of those games where the audio matters just as much as the visuals. It’s not an afterthought — it’s part of the whole experience. Every growl, scream, and shotgun blast feels like it’s punching through your speakers.
Gameplay-wise, this is as good as it gets (disclaimer: I haven’t played Eternal or Dark Ages yet, so this is based on what I’ve played so far). Every monster feels satisfying to fight, and you’ve got a solid arsenal to tear them apart — or slice them up with the chainsaw. Hell yea!!! The enemy variety fits perfectly within the universe — each one has their own look and vibe.
Now, I was going to say they each have their own strengths and weaknesses, and here’s the thing: the game gives you that illusion. But in reality, most enemies react the same way. They don’t team up, they don’t flank or coordinate — they’re mostly cannon fodder, there for your killing pleasure. And you know what? That’s fine. It works.
I played on the hardest difficulty — Ultra Nightmare — and still, something felt just a tiny bit off. For example, when minions launch their fireballs, they tend to shoot ahead of where you’re running instead of directly at you. And look — I get it. If their aim was cracked, you wouldn’t stand a chance. But moments like that remind me that it’s still a game, you know? A bit like a football sim where you tweak all your plays and tactics, but deep down, you know the outcomes are a bit of an illusion.
Not a complaint, just an observation. Maybe I’m just older and don’t get as immersed as I used to when I was a kid. Either way... the pressure is on, and attacks come from all angles. Stand still = death (more or less).
But it’s not Quake-level mayhem where you can't even stop for a second. One thing I absolutely love is the finisher moves — they give you a brief breather mid-fight, and you're invincible while doing them. It’s actually encouraged (HELL YEAAA 😄) because finishers drop health and other goodies. The game wants you to get up close and brutal — and that’s awesome. Not many games push that kind of in-your-face combat (OG Halo didn’t even go there).
The game reminds me of Doom 3 in the way it shifts between “horror/exploration” and then goes full-on arena mode. I love that setup — it creates a great rhythm between tense searching sections and intense action sequences.
What I don’t totally love is the weapon upgrade system — you're basically forced to hunt down secrets to unlock upgrades. In old Doom, secrets were bonus fun — now, if you don’t find them, you’re kinda handicapping yourself. It pushes you into treasure-hunt mode whether you like it or not. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea. Just a thought — but don’t worry, it’s not Zelda-level item chasing. LOL.
Finally:
You can feel the love and dedication from the dev team. These guys get Doom. You can tell they’ve been fans for decades and put everything into making this a brutal, polished, full-throttle experience in 20XX.
What’s not to love?
This is one of the most fun games I’ve played in a long time. My only regret is not playing it sooner. I got it for $4 — and honestly? Even if it still cost $40, I’d recommend it in a heartbeat. It’s that good. You’ll get lost in it. You’ll forget time, forget space. And that’s all you can ask from a game.
For $4, that’s not just good — that’s greatness in a package.

I've never played a game more gory, rapid fire, all out destruction than DOOM 2016. Rip and tear apart demons from the deepest reaches of hell while being a badass with cool toys and GLORY KILLS. My only problem is that even though your literally slaying demons, it gets a little repetitive. 8/10

Let me preface this: I bought this as an experienced gamer but a total noob to FPS. Well, this is everything a game should be. Incredibly satisfying, iconic, extremely well-balanced pacing and difficulty ramping for new players (on the default difficulty). The Doom Anthology is on massive sale right now, and it's a steal. But just the 2016 game is definitely worth the $20. Can't wait to try out Eternal!

DOOM (2016) is the definition of a pure, fast-paced shooter.
From the moment you step into the boots of the Doom Slayer, the game throws you into relentless action with no time to breathe. The combat feels satisfying and brutal, with every weapon packed with power and every enemy encounter pushing your skills.
The level design encourages aggressive play and exploration, and the iconic glory kills add a satisfying layer of style and reward. The soundtrack perfectly matches the intensity, making every moment feel epic.
This game never lets up and keeps you hooked until the final boss. If you want a shooter that’s all about raw fun and nonstop action, DOOM is the way to go.

This game is a fantastic follow-up, delivering everything fans could hope for—and then some. Familiar monsters and weapons make a return, adding a great sense of nostalgia. The levels are massive and beautifully designed, yet never feel overwhelming thanks to clever use of green lights that guide you in the right direction.
The levels are non-linear, packed with opportunities for exploration, hidden weapons, secret areas, and even unlockable retro levels. It’s a significant improvement over the maze-like layouts of Doom 2 (1994), which left players wandering in circles looking for a single switch.
The soundtrack is as intense as ever and fits the game perfectly. Combat is incredibly satisfying, with the brutal Glory Kills being a welcome addition. The chainsaw remains an absolute favorite—pure chaos in the best way, and it provides plenty of ammo.
One downside is a bugged achievement that forces you to replay the game to unlock it. While replaying is hardly a punishment given how enjoyable the experience is, it's still a frustrating oversight.
Multiplayer, however, doesn’t quite hit the mark. The modes quickly become repetitive, and overpowered Demon Runes throw off the balance.
Overall, this sequel is a thrilling ride that respects its roots while improving on nearly every front. Rip and tear, grab a chainsaw and have some fun!

This game is an absolute masterpiece from the graphics to the soundtrack.
It's the best reboot I've ever played and it does an amazing job at recreating the close up, non-stop action of the original Doom game, with a hint of puzzles and secrets.
The soundtrack is absolutely amazing, Mick Gordon's best was put into making this OST and it is perfect, it couldn't have been done better.
The graphics are outstanding, the character design and animations are state of the art, and all that was achieved with top tier optimization, the game runs smooth and with high FPS.

I played this game after I beat doom 3 and this game is actually amazing. The graphics, bosses, enemies, models, guns, attacks, and how the game works and is, is perfect. 75340850738x better than doom 3

"They are rage, brutal, without mercy.
But you.
You will be worse.
Rip and tear, until it is done."
I've played this game so many times on various platforms, one of the few SP games I enjoy replaying. I should say though that this reboot has a very different target audience than Doom 3.
Doom 3 is fucking terrifying, it's functionally a horror game. Play that if you are into shitting n' pissing your pants whilst consuming your entertainment of choice. XD
Doom 2016 on the other hand is all about hypermasculine rage and badassery, just straight up tearing apart demons whilst doing it to Mick Gordon's magical OST. Oh a thing I'd like to praise is the exploration, it's not tedious and you can even get upgrades to show you where everything is on the map. There's also convenient and handy collection trackers to not make any of it a stressful headache, which exploration very much can be so in other games.
All in all I strongly recommend this game to honestly anyone with even the slightest degree of interest in action games (and scaredy cats too, it's not scary I promise! Outside of maybe one jumpscare that I can remember in the whole entire game lol.)
My rating: 10/10 (Masterpiece)
