If you've just come out of the training missions for the Su-27 and aren’t quite confident in using the bird to its full potential I recommend this campaign. Without being too difficult its takes you from an inexperienced pilot to a fairly competent one, bridging the gap from tutorial to online play.
The missions revolve around Georgian hostilities in the Caucasus region. Because of this the designers have applied logical thought to the weaponry the Georgians have, making the scenarios more believable. You won't find yourself going up against formations of relentless F-15/16's who can BVR you with you not having the foggiest what’s going on.
There are Russian audio dialogues which add character and immersion to the missions. Some will be activated by yourself when you are notified to contact someone. Others are played by themselves when crossing activation waypoints.
The missions themselves cover every scenario you can think of (CAP, escort, bombing etc) and reflect the progress of the campaign. E.g. you’ve removed enemy jets in a prior mission so in the next one you can go bomb this target without fear of enemy fighters.
All in all I had a lot of fun with this campaign and strongly recommend it. One final note, there are 22 missions in total not 20 as advertised which is a bonus.

so i bought the Ultimate Argument Campaign, stoked about it per usual. DOwnload as i do every other dlc ive spent a fortune on and it says "inactive" when i try to play and "Error Code 504" which means absolutely nothing to someone like me who just wants to be able to use what ive paid for. this is a very common issue. game randomly shuts off every time i play. Internet is amazing an everything else works great in my home. Seems like a Steam issue to me as my daughter has games and dreads playing them here bc of the numerous "bugs". Which that alone is even strange in 2023 with super conducting, solar powered, mega computers that have 100 megamind ppl making tons to keep going. if i failed at my job consistently, i wouldnt have that job as its a sign im meant for something else. People that never ever leave a review are taking the time to leave one bc your product is meh at best. Thanks tho, by all means, spend the money weve all paid and got nothing or not at all what we agreed to buy.

Fun missions, simple straight forward missions. Flight time to target can be a bit long, but I enjoy the suspense before action because realism. When I get tired, when playing missions one after another and they all have long flight times, I can increase time scale so that's not a huge problem. Definitely recommend if you like Su-27 and are looking for a nice straight forward campaign.

i bought this and many more DCS dlc packs, and have had no problem with any of them.
I use win 7 64 blt operating system and up to now, ive had no probs.
These DCS dlc's as well as the main game are not for casual play, they take time and attention, but have decent tutorial and some quick flight missions to give you at least a chance to play in a reasonable length of time.

Very good DLC pack, whilst not the dynamic campaign we all want, it provides an excellent amount of content for the price. Well designed missions, and balanced difficulty, make this campaign well worth the price they ask.
Now go kill some Americans comrade

As of February 2023 - The campaign works 98% fine, which is amazing given the effects that a few years of updates to the core game seems to have on some other campaigns. ED largely kept up with this one. Bravo
tl;dr - Great campaign for those on the more novice to intermediate skill level on Russian fighters. Felt like I got my money's worth. Learned some things along the way. Don't expect something as in-depth as Operation Cerberus North for the F-18. (Which that one is just... In a class of its own altogether. Sweet jeebus.)
This was a fun campaign. I'd place it on the easier side of the spectrum, but I suppose that's more or less expected with FC3 aircraft like the Su-27. If you're at a beginner or intermediate level in the 27, then this campaign is pretty ideal. This campaign probably doubled my flight hours I had in this module, but I definitely felt like I came out with a much better sense of the strengths and weaknesses of the Russian A2A weapon systems and how the it handles/performs across a few situations/conditions I hadn't dealt with before.
Missions are on the shorter to mid range, lasting from between ~20 to 45 minutes on average (assuming you don't get shot down or fail an objective) and tended to be pretty straightforward in general. Everything felt very doable without being overwhelming. I imagine if you're one of those who can slay with the best of them on PvP, some things may seem pretty trivial, but from the level I was at with this particular module, it was a decent experience.
I only hit one bug on mission 18 near the very end of the flight. The event trigger just before your return flight just wouldn't trip, regardless of anything. Still, hitting the skip button an almighty one time isn't exactly the end of the world imo. Especially since the whole rest of the campaign went just fine. While I did have a few instances of my wingman landing literally right on top of me as I was touching down (this kills the player), that's more an issue with the AI itself across all of DCS and not really some inherent issue with the campaign. It's also not hard to avoid as long as you tell you bumbling buffoon of a wingman to RTB a few minutes before you start making your way back to the airfield.
On a slightly unrelated side note: For a lot of these campaigns in general, it's a shame there isn't a way to mute out the negative reviews that were left solely because some people can't be bothered to take the 6 seconds needed to look at the basic requirements. It's like for every one legit negative review, there's an additional 5 of the dumb variety. lol having the pre-reqs in bold and at the top of the description doesn't seem to have curbed the issues much either.

I enjoyed this DLC campaign for the Su-27 Flanker. The twenty missions are varied and glitch-free, and gave me the chance to practice flying this plane in offline, single-player combat. The main criticism I have read of this campaign is that it is 'too easy', and it's certainly fair to say that experienced players may find it so. For example I found its tangles with older aircraft (e.g. F-4s, F-5s) distinctly less challenging than the confrontations with AIM-120-armed enemies in the stock 'Fortress Mozdok' campaign. However I liked 'The Ultimate Argument' precisely for this reason: DCS needs SP content to bridge the gap between the game's Su-27 tutorials (which give you knowledge, but not much chance to practice it) and the extreme challenge of online multiplayer.
Most missions see you confronting just one or two enemy AI flights, which may be enough for new players, especially if adjusting to the extra challenge of flying without aircraft labels. The developers have done their imaginative best to make each mission feel distinctive and purposeful, whilst remaining plausible in the context of the realistic setting. The missions invariably require you to report arrival on target and mission completion via the 'F10' radio menu option, which is perhaps a little clunky as a game mechanic but at least ensures robust missions where AI units appear on time and behave appropriately. In fact the only missions I had trouble with were when I didn't realise I was expected to locate the (ground) target using the proverbial 'Mark 1 Eyeball': I should have paid more attention to the target 'recon' screenshots included in the (short, but clear) briefings.
Sure, this campaign isn't going to make you into a great fighter pilot (the US BFM/AFM campaigns may be better for that specific purpose) but it did cause me to learn my Flanker inside out, becoming much more familiar with its systems and sensors, which is why I bought the campaign, hence my positive opinion of it. I could have done without some of the 'patriotic' tone of the briefings (I love flying Russian aircraft, but don't need a lecture on fictional Georgian aggression to motivate me) but hey, maybe these are intended to be 'tongue-in-cheek'...?
TLDR: a nice stepping stone for players who have completed the Su-27 tutorials but want a not-too-challenging SP campaign to hone their Flanker skills before heading to online multiplayer or a more demanding campaign.

I bought this during a sale for about 5 US dollars.
Playing through this campaign was a rather enjoyable experience for me. What it offers is precisely what it describes: 20 missions flown over Georgia with a SU-27 in midst a fictional conflict. I spent a total of about 15 hours to get through the entirety of it.
The missions themselves seem to have had a lot of attention put into their beliveability, too. The situations imagined in the missions are very much realistic and the voiceovers are pretty convincing. The air to air engagements, like one would expect in a war nowadays, are very swift, tense and tactical. If you expect to come out alive you better order your wingman around and order him well. However, depending on your proficiency flying the flanker, these missions might be a little on the easy-intermediate side of difficulty.
Moreover, the variety of missions provided is pretty ample, expect interceptions, combat air patrols, escorts, a transfer flight (with a reference to an old LOMAC machinima), ground strikes, sweeps and anti-ship strikes.
Do note also that due to the campaign being made by russian speakers and for a russian speaking public, the english localization isn't always 100% gramatically correct. But this hasn't been a hindrance in any way.
Overall, I'm glad I picked this up and played through it.

Like other people who already own DCS and some content, I was skeptical about paying for a campaign but was curious, and had seen good reviews (mostly) up here. I'm glad I went ahead and bought it, because it has been an experience that has really made DCS worth it. Over about 20 missions, I mastered the Su-27 and became very comfortable with operating it in all kinds of weather and missions. I got my money's worth, and never really felt like a mission was too hard or unfair. The missions also ran well on my very old PC, which is a testament to them having done good usability testing and making it worthy of a developer's release. If you paid for any content on DCS prior to this, especially FC3 (which I recommend and gets you a lot for your money), you should go ahead and get this, even if you wait until it is on sale. I was very happy at the end when I finished the campaign, and I think you will be too, and grow to love the Su-27. Best of all, FC3 includes SU-33 content (any maybe the SU-27 standalone package does as well? dunno) which makes the time investment in the Su-27 worth it. Now if only more free Su-27 campaigns were available, or more paid like this...

Great campaign, I had a lot of fun with these missions :)
The diversity and difficulty was nice for an intermediate level player. The only problems I had with the missions is when either I got shot down, or when I didn't follow the mission briefing. This is way better than putting together a quick mission in the editor. The Su-27 has become my favorite aircraft in DCS, and I owe at least some of that love to these missions!
