This is an outstanding package and having played with it for a few days, I would definitely buy it again if I had it to do over. Highly recommended.

Definitely worth a look on sale, some of the scenery is very nice while sparse in other places, the FPS drops a bit but overall not bad and a nice drive.

Being a carbon county native and a huge fan of railworks for a very long time, I am overjoyed to see that dovetail games has put the effort into recreating this historic and facinating, not to mention beautiful route. The detail that has been put in this is one of the best I've seen so far, and the fact that they added one of the greatest railroads that has ever existed, aka the DnRGw further enhances the expiriences recieved from this dlc, it takes me back to my childhood, watching massive Rio Grande coal trains move up and down the canyon, up and down the steep 2% grades, this dlc runs great on my computer, with the exception of the sd40's but that may get patched up sometime in the future.

Overall, this is a very nice route. The scenery is top notch and the stock is very nice. There is a nice diversity of scenery at points and everything looks very stunning. The one very major flaw, that I hope Dovetail will fix very soon, is the extreme lag when driving the SD40T-2. It only happens with this loco. If I drive an ES44DC or the GP9 that comes with it, it doesn't happen. That is the only thing that is wrong with the route. I hope Dovetail can make some more older era routes like this in the future. I would give this route an 8/10 just because of the SD40T-2 lag.

Soldier Summit is the hyped up "sequel" to follow the lines of donner pass and canadian mountain passes. Although i like the UKTS version i have to give DTG some credit on this one. PROS Very nice scenery Locos all seem good isnt boring, something interesting around each corner. DRGW is always a win for me Long CONS Laggy around the yards. Lag spikes SD40T-2s horn can be heard way further away than it should do, also the bell is too quiet F40s passenger view is very poorly made All in all i love this route and im gonna have a lot of fun in the future 8.5/10

This addon is a mixed bag for me, but don't fret; my review is mostly positive. The route itself is STUNNING, and perfectly captures the Rio Grande! This is how it looks and feels in the videos I've seen of it. It's very remote, mountainous, and very picturesque. It really captures the rugged terrain of the West, but shows a bit of variety in the terrain and gives you something interesting to look at as you drive along. The rolling stock is a little recycled. To be honest, I half expected that, but it looks the part. Most of the static and AI trains in the quick drives are coal trains, but that's about right for the Rio Grande on this part of the system. The GP9, SD40T-2, and the F40 are done well, but the sounds left something to be desired. Most of the time, I would forgive recycled sounds, but I did not like the sounds on the SD40T-2, and was most disappointed, because the model itself looks good. Honestly, the sound issue is relatively minor in terms of this addon. The balance out is you can get some absolutely breath taking videos and screenshots from this route.

My review of the Soldier Summit for DTG's Train Simulator What I like (overview): - It's a long route, almost 70 miles -3 Locos included (GP9, SD40T-2, F40PH) -Lots of workshop potential The Route -As I said before, it's pretty long -Two large yards at each end -Lots of industries -Snow in the winter -Tough grades and tight loops and switchbacks make for a challenging and entertaining run -Amazing scenery, lots of mountains and canyons and gorges and that sort of stuff. -Although it says the route is set in the 1980's I feel it could work as late as the 1990s or 2000s, and as early as the 60s or 70s -Here's what all of that costs you: This route, no matter what, is poorly optimized. It eats frames no matter what. I run a pretty average PC, and it's almost unplayable. The only reason I have this route is because it came with the base game. I've heard of people with high-end computers dropping a foot 50-60fps because of this route. If you are going to get it, that's fine, just remember to kill your graphics settings before doing so. Score: 9/10 The Locos EMD SD40T-2 D&RGW -Nice cab -It's a Tunnel Motor (hence the 'T' designation) -Good horn and bell -Snow effects (see manual cover) -Working Mars (rotary) light - Lots of things to mess within the cab -New brake scripting. I think it slows the game down, optimization-wise -No matter what, this loco eats frames. I don't know why. Maybe it's the scripting. This has been a problem known since release. Score: 5/10 EMD GP9 D&RGW -Refreshed, or at least it feels like it -Snow effects (see manual cover) -Standard GP9 sounds (prime mover, horn, etc). Not that they're bad, I'm just saying there's nothing out of the ordinary. It does have some extra grab irons and stuff like that to differentiate it, though. If you have the RSC GP9 Pack, the only difference is the paint, the SS (Soldier Summit) one is darker and more realistic. Score: 10/10 EMD F40PH Amtrak 'California Zephyr' -Phase III paint -Strobe lights activate when the bell is on -7 different coaches, in Phase II and III liveries -the rolling sound on the coaches are really loopy/choppy - the brakes come on really hard, even at the minimum application Score: 6/10 Additional -7 freight cars -nice caboose Score: 10/10 Overall Score using the above system: 80/100-Not bad It's really cheap on sale. This is probably one of the best routes DTG have released. Love all the rock textures which look realistic and the winter weather system where going from a snow storm to a blizzard where you can hardly see the nose of the loco in front of you. I would like to know where the bare hills are as posted by a previous reviewer. Adjust your settings or get a new computer.

I have every American route available on Steam. This one is the best looking by far. I live in the Rockies and they clouds looming on the hills looks very authentic. The Amtrak equipment is the best I've seen, down to the left-right strobes on the F40 engines. Worth it for that alone.
