Beautiful model that's a joy to drive. As for the sound issue, this can be remedied by downloading the freeware patch on Railworks Germany. Makes a huge difference. https://rail-sim.de/forum/wsif/index.php/Entry/1665-DTGBR218-Soundupdate-V1-0/

Unfinished DLC : - Relation between the HUD and the speed indicator is incorrect (Which isn't pleaseant in career mod when playing withoud HUD) - Only 3 scenarios included ... - it looks like the interior lighting does not work in one of the 2 cab - SIFA works and put break in emergency when you're stop at the station The only good point is the exterior model and cabin details but that's all, bought it at half price but even doesn't worth it ! Hope for an update, the loco model is nice ...

I agree with the negative reactions regarding the engine sound. If only the 'creator(s)' had viewed the youtube vids of the 218 this issue easily could have been avoided. In cab sounds include a rattle that clearly has been copied from the DB BR232 'Ludmilla'. As the latter is a Russian design I'm not surprised it rattles, but for a German loc it seems unlikely and inappropriate. Therefore I simply removed it from the sound files. Despite my criticism I think the 218 looks good and drives very well, so I can recommend it.

Well, I was eager to get this Loco Addon, but after the first run, I was really disapointed. The Engine sounds like an electric-engine, not like a diesel-engine and certainly not like the original engine !!! I hope, they fix this weird sound very soon !

Where do I even have to start? The sounds are not even similar to a BR 218, not even a BR V160; The rear of the locomotive according to DTG is the front; Don't even make me start about the livery which is also inaccurate and there is only one; The horn sounds like it was stolen from a fire truck. Stay away from this absolute piece of garbage even if its on sale and don't do the same mistake as me - get this without watching any reviews on youtube

It's a nice looking relative clean model. No complains about the outside. The cab interior is OK. It's a pity that most dials don't seem to work and are just flat textures. Especially noticable on the left hand side. I have to double check the explaination text underneath the double row of warning lights, but I have the feeling that they are wrong. It sounds different, I give it that, but it's not like the original. Controls: yeah, right. A certain LPer also said it: The Sifa and PZB look to be taken from the Talent 2. I noticed all the problems with the implementation of that version is also in this BR 218. The Sifa alarm is not interrupted when standing still. Both visual indication and audio alarm go off at the same time while in reality there is a 3-4 second delay between visual indication and audio alert. Very strange that the (English & German) manual(s) describe the correct sequence of events how the Sifa works. The PZB has it's quirks. Pity that it doesn't have the other two modes. Especially considering the fact that you can drive the loc in a low gear setting. (Nice touch) The dummy BR146 is nice and handy to "fill" the scenery. No complains about the IC coaches, but we had seen those before. All in all, nice if you are just starting with German locs in Train Simulator, but if you are a veteran and are perhaps more demanding to have something realistic you should look elsewhere.

The locomotive model is very nicely done. But im very disapointed with the sound, its not at all like a propper 218, the engine sound level is very low, and it has no turbo sound at all. The RPM takes also ages to rise, and I cant image the brake force slips more and more towards 0, as its feels like in TS2015. This is not good enoug in my opion. This is how the 218 sounds a drives like : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4r72rcOIuM

the positive: - cap view is nicely modeled and it has some typical standard features (windows can't be opened) - train does look like a BR218 the negative: - PZB: no choice for "u" and "m" mode - why? it's common to use this train for freight as well... and this dlc comes with a low gear feature... this is very bad for freight scenarios because it's not possible to drive this train with the pzb in a realistic way of doing. strange thing is, the manual takes somehow account of u/m pzb-mode but it hasn't been implemented. Although other older dlc have the full dtg-style-pzb-features for a long time ... bad idea from dtg to implement the pzb-system from the wrong train! ... the pzb is somehow copied from the talent 2 dlc (BR442) but seems somehow differently scripted this time and seems to work, at least, from what I had seen in the career scenarios. with the BR218 dlc even "Befehl 40" works "dtg-style", also there is no force-braking given anymore after green signal and pzb-free (yellow 1000Hz-influence before HS-signal) concerning pzb issues see broken Talent2/BR442 dlc f.e. ..or better not, save your money, it's by far the worst release of 2014 by this company and of course hasn't been patched until today.. that alone says a lot.! - SIFA: After a forced SIFA break (halt/station ) a reset is not possible due to a bug. The SIFA must be disabled/ enabled again (shift+enter) or it doesn't work anymore... - Sounds: Copy/ pasted from other dtg/rsc dlc (Ludmilla/ BR232, Talent2... ), the sounds are totally wrong...It would have been a lot closer to the real thing, if they had taken the sound from some already available US train dlc or make a new one, but that of course is to much to ask for.... it's so easy to do some research these days concerning sounds, f.e. with youtube videos etc., I just don't get it.. the sound is so unbelivable bad this time (once again).... - passenger coaches don't have rear lights! - reverser changes train-headlights automatically (red train- headlight in back position).! - Talent 2 (BR442) and BR 218 are wrongly advertised on the shop page concerning features, even the feature list is a copy/paste! steam/valve needs to get involved until dtg get's their facts right! .. this is somehow fraud - cost-benefit ratio is poor .. I feel fooled (once again) and did just buy it because of workshop scenarios :( This TS-train is available for some time already ...try google .... all I can say is, this version by dtg, is a big step backwards from what we have already! Don't buy it, get "the other" version (elsewhere)
