I would love to say absolutely get this played. I played this many times before. This remaster looks great, and I was looking forward to it. But, it has this weird issue where it force crashes with an "invalid authorization" error. I wasn't used mods or anything else. It kept crashing, and I'm on a 4090 rtx. I really don't understand why they would sell it with that issue. You can find several other people with similar issue online.

RDR1 is a great game. It has such a specific dark atmosphere, it's hard to describe. Excellent soundtrack and great voice acting in the cutscenes. The only problem I have with RDR1 is that every time I play it, I want to go back to playing RDR2. As a newer game, it's only logical that RDR2 has better freeroam, but also more diverse environments, crafting, fishing, better hunting, better interaction with NPCs, interaction with the horse, etc. But I simply can't blame RDR1 for being less complex and less detailed, that would be unfair. What I can compare, however, are the main characters and for me John Marston simply doesn't have the personality that Arthur Morgan had. RDR1 also has the bad habit of making every mission a wild shootout, which contrasts with otherwise calm pace of freeroam and cutscenes. I'm not one of those people who played RDR1 when it was originally released, so I don't have the same nostalgic feeling for this game as others, but even so I'd still rate the game a solid 8/10, even from todays perspective. Definitely worth playing.

I played this game at launch at my PS3, and played it 14 years later at PC launch. In the meantime I played through RDR2, and holy S*** this game shows its age... Gameplay, story, graphics all feel very dated. And for some reason i keep finding myself comparing this to the second game, and I can not stop doing it... possibly because RDR1 has the same price as RDR2! I find it crazy that they are asking 50 bucks downright outdated experience. The difference I could find between the old vs new version, is you get to change the graphics... aaaand nothing else has really changed... i find it kind of funny that the game "only" provides 144hz capped limit, and you also get upscaling technology integrated... in a 14 year old game!? I tried giving it a go on the Steam Deck, and it ran OK on the lowest settings, but quickly got back to the pc version because i simply did not enjoy the game on those graphics. I think the price point and the dated graphics and gameplay makes it quite a forgettable experience, hence I recommend you to just buy RDR2

Like all PC gamers, I had never played it. It's worth it for the historical factor, as it is considered one of the best games of its generation. To be blunt, this game is not on the same level as RDR2 in any aspect, even those that are not technical. RDR2 has a better, more interesting and much, much better told story. Even the background music is better than the first game. It's a good game, I imagine it was revolutionary and practically perfect in 2010. In 2025 it's an ok game and I'm having to force myself to finish it. This game made me want to play RDR2. Let's give it a thumbs down because PC gamers are not second-class citizens! Esse game me fez querer jogar RDR2. Vai um negativo pq PC gamer não é cidadão de segunda classe!

This a great port of a 15 year old game, but definitely wait for a sale, releasing it at $50 is insulting, especially since the multiplayer has been stripped. That is the only complaint I have with it so far, it looks amazing and plays really well with both controller or keyboard/mouse. If you haven't played this game, or if you're like me and its been a long time, I highly recommend.

Game play is good but I can't recommend this game for this price. It's too high for just only graphic improvement

It was a pleasure to finally have the opportunity to play Rockstar's cowboy classic. Though sparser and dated compared to the stupendous (if flawed in terms of narrative) RDR2, the 2010 RDR delivers another excellent open-world Rockstar experience and a tight misanthropic story with no happy endings. On the technical level, though dated and somewhat parsimonious, the graphics get the job done. The sound design and voice acting are top-notch, and the loading times are brief. The game uses the same engine as GTAIV, and the engine looks notably better than GTA:SA, in addition to permitting seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments. Like GTAIV, RDR plays great, with the game physics bestowing weight and momentum to the objects and characters. The animations are smooth. Riding horses and shooting guns feels awesome. The game's narrative is in four acts tied by a plot device that never quite works. The third act is the weakest of the bunch, even though it is where the story climaxes. The opening act where the protagonist plays a ranch hand in the old west is the highlight, while the second act in Mexico delivers the best sub-plots and set-pieces. The final act drags, but helps hold together the narrative, and provides closure. RDR's tone is a Rockstar classic - misanthropic, ironic, violent, realistic in the BIsmarckian sense, and mercurial. Like all other Rockstar heroes, you are a man in a man's world, doing what a man's gotta do, while still adhering to a certain code of honor, and fighting inner demons and a suppressed conscience. With dialogue that frequently rises above the boilerplate and occasionally reaches the sublime, RDR delivers a solid experience that borrows as much from mid-century noir and western movies as it does from 21st century sensibilities and the lingering exuberant cynicism of the 1990s. Overall, RDR is a great game, one of Rockstar's many, and a classic that easily remains playable and enjoyable 15 years after its original release. Though somewhat smaller, emptier and plainer than its spectacular successor, RDR is a gem well worth experiencing. In addition to being fun to play, it teaches you a bit about fin-de-siecle America, tingles a few emotional chords, and makes one think. Rating 9+/10. Way to go, Rockstar. Don't screw up with GTAVI.

As a seasoned player, it's absolutely wonderful to experience this game again in 4K with a few upgrades here and there, but it still feels a bit outdated. It's a fantastic game, but after a while I get bored and honestly feel more inclined to play Red Dead 2, which is a much better game. If you’ve never played it before, go for it, but if you’re a returning player, you should wait for a 50% sale.

I was a toddler when this game came out and they are still charging this much money even on sale for a 2010 game, it's a daylight robbery. I guess people stopped buying the Sharkcards didn't they, Rockstar???

While Cockstar charging full price for an old game is ludicrous! However, grab it on sale for $15, not too bad. Upgraded to 60FPS, and can be played in 4K. It's a fantastic game I really enjoyed going back to after not being able to play it since the Xbox 360. Undead Nightmare alone is worth that sale price, it is by far my favourite DLC ever released for a AAA Title.
