This is a good one to get all 6 class A4's are in it you can do some cool stuff with all the class A4's so the are Mallard,Sir Nigel Gresley,Dominion of Canada,Bittern and Dwight D Eisenhower over all i give it a 10/10.

A nicely detailed add-on with 6 A4's to choose from and visually appealing and thats all it's got going for it. But there is plenty of oppertunities for workshop scenarios. Unfortunately the cons are not in it's favor. The $22.99 price is ridiculous and should be avoided unless it's on sale for 50%-70% off. 7 standard scenarios are included but 1 is a tutorial and 1 for each engine bringing up the remaining 6 HOWEVER they'll have you doing the exact same run with each loco but with no Ai traffic to look at while on the move makes for a very boring run.

A very dated product - not up to current standards. Whilst it looks ok from the outside the sounds are poor. It's not nice to use with TrackIR as none of the locomotive has been modelled from the window and without trackIR you can't see out of the forward window or lean out of the cab to see where you're going. Very basic controls are represented. In fairness I believe this DLC was created in 2013 so it met the standard then, but TS locos have moved on so much that this loco just isn't fun to drive in 2024. I rarely ask for a refund on TS Classic DLC but I have with this.

When it comes to truly great steam engines, the A4's really are up there. After all, even after 80 years 'Mallard' is still the fastest steam engine in the world & it'll probably hold that record forever. Not to mention that these locomotives look so striking and awe-insprining - they can top 100mph with ease & truly are Gresley's finest work. So, how do they hold up in Train Simulator? Well I'm sorry, but I'm starting with negatives. When I first bought this pack, I was hoping for an amazing drive with either 'Mallard' or 'Bittern' along the ECML, but... I was left unsatisfied sadly. As much as the departue of one of these is a sight to behold, the sounds leave a lot to be desired. The chuffing in particular is alright to begin with, but after a while it's become very tedious. And I'm sorry, but an A4's whistle should sound A LOT more grander & louder than that! Even the scenarios are poor - a speed trial for each individual locomotive on the same route with no AI traffic? What about railtours? And why London to Brighton of all routes? Nothing wrong with said-route, but why not the East Coast Main Line, the true stamping ground of these steam-powered thoroughbreds? But you know what the biggest kick in my teeth is? This whole pack, with meh sounds & copy-paste, bland scenarios costs £18. This begs one last question: why? I wanted to like this pack, I really did. But in my opinion, it isn't worth the money. Perhaps the SSS Sound Pack can rectify that matter, but that really speaks wonders for engines like this. If you have to spend more to get the sounds to be accurate, why bother buying it at all? I'm looking at you 9F pack. In all fairness, if you want a truly epic A4 in TS, you'll need the A4 Sound Pack from Steam Sounds Supreme. And take my advice; wait for a sale. Buy this pack either half-price for £9 or in the bundle with London to Brighton. It's a shame Steam doesn't have a middle ground inbetween 'Recommend' & 'Not Recommend' because that's where I want to put this pack - but in retrospect, if you like the A4's this is the pack for you. Just lower your expectations before you buy it OK?

Honestly, it's hard to really begin to describe these locomotives... They're fast, they work well, they've pretty much been created almost completely accurately, from what I've seen. Pros: 6 Different Locomotives - You have the Mallard, Bittern, Dominion of Canada, Sir Nigel Gresley, Union of South Africa, and the Dwight D. Eisenhower. 3 in LNER paint, 3 in BR paint. Fair enough, I'd say. Sounds - The whistle is just amazing. The chuffing sound though, sounds somewhat digital compared to some other locomotives, but it does the job. Detail - Although not everything can be used, a lot of the details are there, including functional AWS, and air brake valves on the ones still used in preservation. Neutrals: Paint Schemes - I can't complain too much on this, but it would be nice to have BR schemes for the LNER locos, and LNER schemes for the BR locos, even if it's for the Marketplace. Having more locomotive nameplates for running 1950's and early 1960's routes would be nice, but again, Cons: None Overall: 9/10. RSC/DTG did good on this pack, and I would say it is a must have for BR Steam lovers.

Ah, the 'A4' Pacific. Who could fail to love what is undoubtably the most elegant steam locomotive ever design and who could fail to thank Sir Nigel Gresley for creating such a racehorse on rails. The best steam locomotive on Train Simulator so far, and I don't see it being out done anytime soon (if at all). Acceleration is smooth, braking pretty decent for the vacuum system (far better that the vacuum brakes on the '47s'), and the chime whistle sounds wonderful. This locomotive evokes the nostalgia and romance of the Golden Age of steam and looks the part too. The Bugatti car inspired streamlined front end is done perfectly to justice here and the interior is well detailed including signs for max. speed (75mph forwards, 45mph tender first). Nevertheless despite these speed restrictions I have had Bittern up to 99.8mph with 7 coaches, Mallard up to 103mph with 6 and Sir Nigel Gresley up to 124mph with 5 coaches all on the ECML London - Peterborough. So if you want to try and break 'A4' Mallard's 1938 record of 126.4mph you can certainly give it bash with the A4 Pacifics add-on, perfect for any lover of steam.

I was born a few years after the end of the steam era in the late 60s so I don't remember steam engines being in mainstream use, however when I was young, my parents took me to see the Mallard when it made a special appearance at Steam Town in Carnforth. I have admired these engines ever since. I could not have even imagined Train Sim back then, but now here are what I consider to be the most handsome steam engines in history ever to have graced the rails and I can drive them!! They have been beautifully recreated in digital form both inside and out. The shine on the metal, realistic interiors and sounds, everything is absolutely perfect. A must buy for any steam fan.

Now these are engines you want to get right or they would be terribly terribly wrong and these engines are absolutely brilliant to drive in real mode, legacy mode, simple or expert controls. They are fast, really fast and it doesn't take a genius in rocket science to get them reliably past the 100mph mark and you have the real feeling of "control", whether you are running with an auto fireman or stoking and driving, it is one of the must have steam packs for steam fans and is very well done I think.

The A4's are a great addition to Train Simulator, they are more preferable to the East Coast Main Line routes to me rather than London to Brighton. You kind of get the 6 A4's that were preserved to drive in game. The sounds are wonderful but the whistle is meh. This loco pack is still a great buy. The scenarios that came in this pack are made to speed how fast you can go, I had managed to get Dwight D. Eisenhower to 108.0 MPH, Sir Nigel Gresley to 107.96 MPH, Union of South Africa to 112.54 MPH, Bittern to 106.93 MPH, Dominion of Canada to 117.59 MPH, and the Mallard to 110.44 MPH. I would rate this 9.5/10!
