This is one of the most awesome locomotives I ever saw for Train Sim. It worth every penny.
Everything works perfectly, the realism reach a really high level in this machine.
If you love steam engines, I recommend.

I wasn't sure if I should give this a thumbs up or thumbs down. It isn't that this is a bad DLC; it is actually really really good. Smokebox has done a very good job making this engine. The problem is more that the train is not for new players of the game or for players that aren't very good at driving steam engines. There is an advanced and a regular mode for driving this, but I have trouble with both. And perhaps it is only my lack of experience in driving steam engines that has made this engine so hard for me. Nonetheless, if you aren't the best steam driver, then don't buy this train YET. I''m not saying don't buy it ever, just wait until you get more practice on other engines. Other than that, I do like this engine. The features of it are really great and it gives me that Great Depression era steam train feeling. If there's one thing I don't understand about this engine, it's that the train is operated by the Alabama, Tennesee, and Northern RR but comes with scenarios for the Horseshoe Curve? I get it, the time period, but it doesn't seem to fit. It would have been better if they made a fictional PRR paintjob to go with it as well. Otherwise they could have made matching rolling stock. Anyway that's just me. As always, buy it during a big sale for a better price.

The engine looks and sounds good. It's worth it, there's not much about the DLC that is done really well or really bad so there's not much that can be said besides it's a fun engine to drive.

Smokebox did it again. The second great live steam locomotive. I love this little loco. It's got an attitude however it you know how to treat it, it will responed to you well. This little guy tells the big ones to get out of the way here I come. Again like the UPFEF-3 it takes a while to learn how to run it but when you do you will love it also. Keep those live US steam locomotives coming Smokebox. They are a real treat.

The AT&N Consolidation is one of the finest models available. I can see in the quality and attention to detail, that it took countless hours to create, this work of art. I spent weeks learning how to hand fire this engine and maintain steam pressure going up hills in the horseshoe curve without stalling. As a novice steam engine operator back in the mid 1980's, I can see the realism of the controls of this fire breathing beast. Whoever purchases this locomotive will not be disappointed. The are different versions to satisfy even the novice engine driver. The only engine on the steam network that even comes close is the SPS&S northern, also authored by smokebox. In addition to the model, Smokebox is always ready to answer questions and very helpful learning the operation of the steam engine. As an old slogan goes "as real as it gets"

I've owned Train Simulator since 2016. I've enjoyed many of their UK steam locomotives, the average performance of the UK loco's all together being pretty high. But as an American I love the mighty US steamers. Particulary the freight locomotives from the 1920's. So after a few other loco's I bought the "Connie" after some research. Firing it easier than the FEF-3 due to simplicity. But with the older syle throttle (connected the steam dome rather than the cylinders) its harder to drive than the FEF-3. The detail is amazing from when it came out, it out performs the G-trax SP&S E-1 on steep grades . (5-6 MPH on 2.4% grade with 4 ACF cars, looses boiler PSI after a while. AT&N Connie: 12-15 MPH keeps the PSI). And a nice change after binge driving the SP cab forward for 2 years. This is worth the purchase if your looking for a locomotive that is comfy hauling 10-20 freight cars on 0.5-1% grade at 20-30 MPH). 5 Stars
EDIT: 2 and a half years later its my favorite loco on trainsim. Realism, detail are all top notch. I had a period of a year and a half where I wasn't interested in railroads anymore. I'd uninstall TS and comeback months later, play for a few day then uninstall, and repeat this cycle a few times until COVID started.
Lastly Smokebox created this loco BEFORE the UP 844, just clarifying.

From the developer that brought us the outstanding Union Pacific FEF-3 844 and stablemates comes the prequell project - the AT&N Consolidation
A workhorse rather than a racehhorse, built strong and built to last. Perfect for switching, transfer and local pick up freights
and recently having under-gone an update to bring this original ground breaking model all of the newly created features of
Smokebox's later FEF-3 project, the Connie is now on a par; and a lot more fun to drive. A perfect stepping stone to hone
your skills before moving on to its bigger, brasher cousin.
Definately a MUST HAVE for any steam lover

Another excellent release from Smokebox, I can't recommend anything he creates enough. A very fun locomotive, especially on the Horseshoe curve. Great respect to the realism of the real thing, within the confines of TS. Not as high fidelity as his FEF-3, but easily one of the great steamers for TS.
