Red Faction: Guerilla, aptly named, takes you to Mars where you're put up against the EDF to liberate Mars from oppression, but all that bravery comes at a little cost of repetitiveness and monotony in an environment that was supposed to be vibrant and interesting.
Red Faction: Guerilla is a third-person open-world game where you control Mason (not the guy from Armageddon, but just as bald and just as bland looking lol) who, seeing his brother murdered by the EDF, decides to join in with the Red Faction, a resistance movement in Mars, a voice of the people, in hopes to drive out the EDF.
Graphically, the game looks acceptable but I've noticed that all NPCs are literally the same people driving around, joining you for raids, except for a bunch of "special models"... I mean I literally killed Jenkins in a courrier stop Guerilla mission and figured out, I called him right after for one of his missions.. Really? Turns out, the Jenkins model is just a repeat model for many NPCs, and he's supposed to be like... a recurrent NPC! How do you make such a big mistake? Anyways, the game tries its best to kill your immersion so that you truly notice that you're actually playing an unrealistic game. Mars actually looks quite accurate, and the mechanics are great, not as good as Armageddon where you can literally reconstruct, but the chaos is present here, and everything is breakable with either your sledgehammer or the huge arsenal of weaponry you unlock as you progress through the story.
Now... Granted, for an open-world, the game is fine, but it's quite repetitive. The Guerilla action missions are very boring, it's one of four or five things, kill courrier, beat a transporter timer, destruct some building in record time, follow a courrier, stop an EDF convoy... Let's just say, it is not Red Dead Redemption, where you're lost in the world of the game. For Red Faction Guerilla, I couldn't wait to be done with it... Then I figured out there is a DLC and I was like "Ugh, I guess I have to play that one as well, Ugh... *roll eyes*".
Red Faction Guerilla gets a 5/10, this is one of the most cranky, most deserving of being underrated games out there, and I'm not exaggerating. It would've been good, if the playtime were a couple of hours, not 75, where you literally have to scour all of Steam to find someone willing to do the Multiplayer Achievements with you that you cannot do on your own time because nobody would ever play this game online without incentive.

An innovative game. Especially for 2009 standards

A game quest doesn't work. Even though I follow and do everything right, the mission is canceled.
