Simple but elegant. You have guns and powers, and use them to navigate 4 maps across different times of day. It's fun to see how things you've done in the morning can change the afternoon or evening. There's a nice level of guiding you to explore different areas and by the end, you really know your way around the maps. After a few loops you can start keeping gear that you like across loops so there's always a sense of progression. Easy recommendation.

Unplayable, ugly concept for a potentially good game VA's work is the best I've found in this game. It's less and less enjoyable to play by the minute. Only saved by the voiceover in my language. But it's impossible to play the GAME just because Juliana sounds good and her voice bounces perfectly inside you with her personality

DEATHLOOP is far from the 10/10 masterpiece that IGN claimed. While the gunplay is an improvement over Prey, that's about the only area where it excels. Everything else has been done FAR better in Arkane's previous games. The story is lackluster, and while the retro '60s aesthetic is stylish, it lacks the gritty, immersive tone that made their past titles so compelling. The repetitive use of just four maps and the frustrating save system make progression feel tedious. I have no desire to finish this. If you loved Prey’s Mooncrash DLC, you might enjoy DEATHLOOP, but it lacks great RPG elements that Arkane was once known for.

Deathloop is a strange game. The story is minimal, and mostly told through in game texts you find. The number of characters that actually have much to say is extremely small. The number of levels is few. And perhaps weirdest of all is that my enjoyment of the game was a strange curve. I started liking it, especially Colt and his endearing personality. Then about five hours in I started to get bored. I had seen all the zones a few times, I thought I knew exactly what the game was. Then about 8 hours in I got hooked again. In Deathloop you play through the same few areas over and over, but things change. You can go at different times of day and one time of day a door might be open, or clues left out somewhere. Another time of day and you can't go in that door, but maybe something else is going on. The game is about building your knowledge of each area, what is available when. It's about collecting data to get your hands on overpowered guns and powers, about paying attention and figuring out how to assassinate specific targets, and then getting GOOD at killing those target. I recommend Deathloop to anyone, but I say this: Give it time to burn. If you feel yourself getting bored, stick it out for another couple hours and give it a chance. I'm so glad I finally did. Have a fulfilling day!

Repetitive levels, constant loading in and out of the 'base' because if you want to do a different mission in another section and other time of day. I know it's called Death 'loop' but it really does get repetitive. Story doesn't sound well thought out, too much reading, too many code locks and too little clues on where to get them. For me it was more of a 'bored to' death loop.

Solid immersive sim with an original gameplay loop. Essentially Dishonored with viable gun play and a twist of rogue.

This one really pains me, because Arkane is one of my favorite studios of all time. If I could give Deathloop a rating of "in the middle," I would. The core gameplay loop offers some satisfaction in the form of improved loadout and a better understanding of the different areas as you play through them repeatedly. There's also a few instances of satisfying worldbuilding. The story and characters, however, just fell flat to me. I don't know if it's the writing, voice acting, or some of both but none of the Visionaries really hit home for me as a villain and Colt wasn't a very effective protagonist. I often found myself working through several loops to solve a puzzle (for both main quest or side puzzles), and the rewards were just unsatisfying at the end. I wanted to feel stronger as I went through more loops, but the default difficulty makes enemies also get significantly stronger as you loop, and if you change the difficulty your loot drops are nerfed. If you're going to give it a shot, I'd say do so during a sale.

I enjoyed my time with it. The first few hours are very rocky--everything is tutorialised through pop-ups and little through actual gameplay (that's because a good bit of the gameplay is done through menus, I suppose), but after that it does kinda find its rhythm. Unfortunately mega stripped down when compared to Dishonored and Prey--there is only one solution to this game.
