Extremely boring gameplay. You'll be walking around forever waiting for something to happen, and when something finally does it's underwhelming.

The game is okay but nothing spectacular. It's uniqueness comes from the fact that it is a horror game set in World War 1 but nothing beyond that. The game is extremely linear and puzzle heavy with puzzles taking up the majority of the game play. The monsters are scary and unique but they lose a lot of their scare factor during the boss fights, especially when their animations are more visible and you can see how goofy they are. I don't recommend this game at full price. If you get it on sale, it will be an enjoyable enough experience

A tough one to recommend. Its kind of boring and repetitive but there's definitely some good stuff to like. The environments are cool but the gameplay is meh at best. Interesting story though.

Definitely one of the most top tier horror games I've had the chance to play this year.
I got the Asylum ending without realising it.

Probably one of the best video games about WW1 I have played. It had much more depth put into it than I expected, and portrayed an emotional and compelling story. Would heavily recommend.

Some are calling this a "walking simulator" ... it is not ... it is a first person adventure with light puzzle elements ... but what it is more than anything else is a cerebral meditation on loss and the human condition; a visually and audibly stunning display of art and level design, with a splash of Gothic horror thrown in for good measure.
Beautiful.

Pretty game that goes through the stages of grief, there is no manual save mechanic, so if you mess up a boss fight like I did, you can get locked into the worst ending and have to start again. Adding a chapter select would make me recommend this game, but finding this 7 hour playtime game has no manual saving and requires a new save if you mess up, just ruined it for me.

Puzzles are alright, but this game doesn't really say anything new about war that we haven't already heard (not to sound ignorant, it still uses interesting visual forms of expression and other concepts).
I do appreciate the angle it approaches with, which is the Axis' side of 'manhood', 'duty', and the ways those can affect perception in the stages of approaching a war. Not enough sources cover that side and I appreciate how this game handles it.
Overall, this game could easily fall into what people call a 'walking sim', since you could achieve the same experience via long form video content on YouTube.
2/5, wait for a heavy sale.

You play as an unlucky German soldier who’s, let’s just say, having a rough time. One moment you’re wandering through a creepy house, the next you’re in muddy trenches – both equally unsettling, but the trenches come with bonus dirt. Everything creaks, groans, and crawls. Sometimes it’s a monster, sometimes it’s just your mental health.
