I couldn't play the steam version of this game as it kept crashing on my computer in 2023. sorry I had to download a pirate version but I finally bought the official game. now my rtx 5090 runs this game over 165 fps in 2025

Although different than the original game, this episode is in my opinion slightly superior to the first.

I wish I could recommend this game and honestly feel bad giving a negative review as the story was really moving and quite immersive for the most part. The graphics are one of the best i've seen in a video game and for a change the game was super well optimized for nearly the entire run. Now onto the reason why I wouldn't recommend nor play this or a sequel again. Perhaps its just me getting older as a gamer but I felt a lot of the fights in the game are just designed to be frustrating as hell. It's annoyhing to just slog through predictably same concepts and mechanics as the first game. Nothing new has really been added and the same formula with swarms of rats and just a repeating set of murphy's law demonstrations. The battles never felt fun but a continuously frustrating sequence of fight or flight moments where one miniscule step outside a lit area will get you killed gruesomely by rats. Or that one buggy arrow that requires you to stand at precisely the right angle to pick it up else you die instantly with a mace shoved into your head. I don't consider myself a terrible gamer but many times I found that even for experienced gamers, ending up dying a gruesome death over and over wasn't easily avoidable. Some areas went by without much hassles but others were just annoying in the sense that you have to figure out something very specific in a flurry of moments and not much creative freedom is given otherwise. So many moments where I felt the first game was more fun and enjoyable cause the mechanics were firstly new and the fights were challenging but not a slog. In this one, it felt like an unrealistic number of enemies just keep pouring in again and agiain and that is what the selling point or thrill is supposed to be. Just a cranked up version of the first game but with just 3x soldiers or rats to deal with. Even the story at one point just lost its charm when (without giving away spoilers), certain end game antagonists just became irritatingly evil for the sake of evil. No depth or relatibility to their traumas or reasons for being lunatics, just hey, the world is fucked up full of lunatics, now deal with it. To top it off, the soldiers are all just bots with no braincells and just blindly follow lunctics in charge, which again made me lose immersion. Considering that i'm in a minority when it comes to this game's raving reviews, I conclude that this genre is just not cut out for me. Such games just seem like they have a script, with certain pre-set parameters and you have to just be fast enough, press that key combination just as planned and find just the right loot strategically placed around the area to move to the next section. Too predictable, grindy and instead of giving the player some sense of accomplishment or achievement, it just seems like a big relief and at many times, you're just hoping to be done with it as soon as possible. On a more positive note, kudos to the teams behind the vfx and art style in this game. Its an absolute stunner and to be honest, thats the only reason that kept me playing it to the end. Overall i'd give it a 6/10.

The screen keeps stuttering. Frame rates are all over the place in RT mode. It feels very poorly optimised. Do not recommend

This has to be one of the most devastating and emotional games I have played and probably the first time I ever cried after finishing a game. Definitely a must play if you have played the first one and enjoy strong narrative games.

Absolutely amazing game, loved every minute of it, especially the end. The struggles of the different characters and their traumas felt so real

It's the first time in my life that I've felt a twinge of sadness at finishing a game. The developers have succeeded in creating a highly original game, with breathtaking scenery and, above all, endearing characters. It shows that a video game can be a work of art and arouse very strong emotions.

Do you ever finish a game and just sit and stare at your monitor for an eternity because you can't process the emotions you just had? Yeah that's this game. The first one was absolutely incredible, but this sequel blew it out of the water. I want to erase my memory so I can play it for the first time again. I got it and the first game on a steam sale, but it is absolutely worth paying full price for.

This game might just be one of the best sequels I’ve played. The story’s emotional rollercoaster is intense, and honestly, it’s one of the saddest journeys I’ve experienced in a game. The graphics are stunning some of the best I’ve seen. Plus, the soundtrack is incredible and really pulls you into the world. Definitely a must play if you’re into strong narratives, great visuals, and awesome music.
