A COD dev's take on a "Realistic, Tactical FPS" that will leave you, somehow, wishing to return to the days of Veteran difficulty grenade spam. Clunky movement, half-baked mechanics, run breaking bugs, and AI so hilariously unbalanced that methed out suspects can 180 snipe you with a 9mm from across two backyards when you dare to spot them from behind a brick wall at night.
And no, that is not a hyperbole. The only "Realistic" experience you're gonna be receiving from this pile of pre-alpha mess is a REAL deep sense of regret.

Meh, I don't recall last time I regretted purchasing a game even if it was bad. This game has so many issues that make Single Player excruciating experience. The Gameplay is not that good at all. Controlling team is clunky and tedious, AI NPCs often take forever to comply. AI team is not the brightest too. It's too slow even for a tactical game. You can't run and thus you end up spending minutes walking around the map while looking for the last suspect, etc. It feels like a downgrade compared to SWAT 4 and even Rainbow Six games in so many aspects. It's also rather shallow in prep. There is so much potential that is wasted.

A Buggy Mess That’s More Frustrating Than Fun
Cons:
This game is extremely buggy to the point where it feels unfinished. It either fails to launch, getting stuck on a black screen after displaying the studio names, or it crashes mid-game, sometimes even corrupting the autosave file. Out of all the games I’ve owned including some that are well over 120GB, this 50GB game somehow took the longest to install. That should have been my first red flag.
Even verifying the game files is a nightmare. 98% of the files get verified in 5 minutes, but the last 2% takes an eternity. The ETA just keeps increasing with no end in sight. It’s absolutely infuriating dealing with such inconsistencies and technical issues, especially when I just want to play the damn game.
Pros:
I won’t deny that the game design is fantastic. The level of customization is excellent, even allowing you to tweak your AI teammates in single-player mode. The tactical depth is incredible, giving you numerous ways to approach missions. The atmosphere is realistic and immersive, making every encounter feel intense. It’s one of those games that’s easy to pick up but tough to master which would have been great if the game actually worked properly.
Conclusion:
I play games to relax and unwind, not to fight with endless technical issues. This game has pushed me to my limit I’m sick of spending more time troubleshooting than actually playing. Reinstalling, verifying files, searching the web for fixes. It’s all a massive headache. The fact that I could only play for less than 1.5 hours before being forced to deal with all these issues is beyond disappointing and writing this review.
I’m gonna give it one last shot before I return this stupid game and get a refund. If it doesn’t work properly, I’m done wasting my time.

VERY tactical shooter, gives surreal experience game-play when playing solo. Being able to utilize and command your team with CQB is amazing, haven't played a game like it. Also fun with friends, turn off your tactical play style and have more fun with it. Now, yes it does have some bugs, main one that I really notice is at times my AI team won't follow the commands I give, and they'll just stand there. Also, the hitbox of AI team and friends are way to large, we'll be like 2 feet from them and you can't walk by them. Other than that this game is excellent.

The game looks good and is fun(really is). Feels immersive and pretty polished, too. I'll have to admit that losing my story/career safefile due to one of the occasional crashes was unfun, but I learnt to live with the pain.
What makes me not recommend this game is having to search for remaining civilians when you cleared the rest of the mission - there should be some way of auto-resolving this (even if that means reducing the score or whatever), because giving the AI the command for 'search and rescue' certainly does not work as intended (read: not) and on some maps searching can be a real pain. There is no challenge / point to what feels like an ill-designed fetch quest, in a way it feels a bit disrespectful to the players time.
It is a shame that such a small and easy to fix thing spoiled my enjoyment of this game, but it did, so here I am not recommending it.

Folding the PAID dlc achievements into the main game achievements, and prioritising the development of said dlc over fixing game breaking bugs that had been present since day 0 i.e. the borderline spinbotting AI means that if you really want to experience this game, you're better pirating it

Ready or Not has become one of the best tactical shooters I've ever played. It delivers everything I want out of a modern FPS game, without any of the filler that plagues many modern multiplayer shooters.
The gunplay feels incredible. It's punchy and satisfying and gory all in one. It's also very harrowing. The randomness of suspects and objectives in the map continues to keep me on my toes even after 300 hours in the game. There any many times where I find myself with sweaty palms and white knuckles because of how tense shootouts can get. It's one of the main reasons why I find myself coming back to this game over others like it. In the same vein as SWAT 4, this game prioritizes tense tactical shootouts and non-lethal options over a simple bloodbath.
The tone also can't be understated. It's bleak and nihilistic and unfortunately all too real in today's world. This game depicts crimes in a realistic light, showing scenarios of terrorism, drug abuse, cartel violence, human trafficking and even CSAM situations. It doesn't pull any punches either. I highly respect the game for showing real world scenarios in such a light, though I couldn't blame anyone if this type of content would be a deal-breaker for playing this game. It doesn't glorify any of the actions in the game, while also not taking a downright copaganda/Blue Lives Matter stance either. It strikes a balance that accurately shows the real threats that SWAT officers face in today's world.
The game is highly replayable if you enjoy tense shootouts in urban settings. Since coming out of early access, Ready or Not has already released two excellent DLC expansions, and I hope that they continue to release more to extend the life of this game. It also has a strong modding community for those interested in extra levels/weapons. I've even been able to record my own voice lines and mod myself into the game which has been fun. Overall I highly recommend this game. For those who enjoy tense, tactical gameplay with an emphasis on realism, this game is for you.

Ready or Not is a gripping tactical shooter that delivers incredible gunplay, immersive sound and a tense atmosphere. Every weapon feels powerful, and the game’s realistic lighting and detailed environments heighten the intensity of each mission.
The sound design is especially impressive, making every gunshot feel authentic.
However, AI issues hold it back, enemies sometimes behave erratically, while teammate AI can be unreliable and die in very stupid ways. Technical glitches, like weapon evidence falling through the floor, can also be frustrating.
Despite these flaws, Ready or Not is one of the best if not the best tactical shooter available, especially in co-op.

For those that remember Sierra's swat 3 and swat 4 games... this is exactly that, with today's graphics, more levels, guns and options. Gameplay is slightly hard, but nothing that cant be done if you take your time and use your team to advance. if you are looking for a fast paced action arcade game this isint it. the more you try to make it that kind of game the more you will die. yet it keeps my heart beating and after 2 hours of gameplay, i feel drained of energy because this game is so psycologically getting to me. the danger feels real.

Why is there no Restart button when playing single player?
The down time is enough for me to honestly just press Alt+F4 and say "Meh I'll play later." While loading into another game!
Spent an hour trying to get "S" rank on one of missions, eventually I got everyone in cuffs and alive but the game bugged out and the suspects gun disappeared into the map.
Don't understand why I can't hug a wall and throw grenades around the corner without leaving cover.
Main issue is the downtime between single player missions, Multiplayer has a restart option!
All and all I give the game a solid 7/10
Buy it when it's on special.
