" a cool little game but beware adventurer... it's far away from the turn-by-turn RPG we're accustomed to.
You need to hit and evade and hit again in an RPG-maker limited interface. At first, I found my character stuck in closed-space and dying as a farmer who would have had the best of ideas as to use napalm to get rid of autumn leaves."
"Joke aside, the gameplay isn't so enjoyable but the true good point of this game is the story-telling, even though the game design is an hassle too. For a little short game, it was ok though.
Pros :
> nice dialogues. The team must have played some role-playing game in real life (different characters types, nice rythm in the scenario but not perfect)
> nice try with the non static gameplay but turn-based RPG would have been more immersive as Eragon on GBA for example. It's even more important in this game that was story-oriented.
> nice portrait (even if 5 characters only got them)
Cons :
> not a big bestiary. There is a lack of monsters and items description. Even though you need some to accomplish quests. Several of these are even equipment types and not key-elements types, so you can "without-knowing" sell them.
> the hassle of this pet bonus implementation. Your pet can find things but only on certain maps (trophee quest) and you need to go all the way to each tiles to find some bonus items that do...nothing.
> as for the last boss, I was just bashing 4 times my firebal..."molotov" ? cause' your mana regen is stopped in this game when your in a fight. So, the immersive RPG is killed by a seemingless QTE. Imagine a warrior fighting a wolf but going to its inventory 2 times, drinking potions and constantly throwing Molotov to a werewolf right next to him ? Well, that's it.
> dialogues were cut from time to time and the info was on the second pannel, cuting immersive progress.
> the climax was... dumb as a rock who threw itself in a pond as to think it could suicide itself. Story-telling was good but you cannot make a good story only on good dialogues. There was no off-voice, narrative panel and the viewpoint was only on the hero. Killing the epicness. The lone hero was an abort-baby.
> 2 success have got a bug and despite the online soluce, I couldn't get them.
> cause yes, I needed to check on suceess as it is impossible for you to accomplish some of the success.
In the end, a positive score for the benevolent behaviour of the dev and cool try but well, I you're on a project, render it perfect.
NB : my english sucks, I'm french. :3
