VA-11 Hall-A is relaxing visual novel that immerses the player in a futuristic, dystopian cyber-punk universe. Rich in lore and intriguing characters, the game is sure to put your brain at work. Quaint 80's style city music and glowwave retro, pixel graphics enhance your experience of this beautifully melancholic world. You will be heavily engrossed and captivated by this universe and its' characters as you play behind the role of a hot, depressive bartender girl, serving people--and *things* drinks as they spill the contents of their hearts and minds.
It is incredibly well written; philosophical, subversive, and humorous. However, expect to do a lot of reading. This isn't a game that is too interactive, and is more like a visually, and auditorily stimulating book. The drink-making process is rather simple; something I really wish they made more sophisticated.
Nevertheless, the writing is fantastic, and is the main focus of this game. It is a game meant to be played in no rush. Treat it like a book; a relaxing, dark, humorous, book, with nice music and pretty visuals to match.
