Fights in Tight Spaces
That's a game, that will be fun occasionally and casually, but definitely not be the top of your gaming list. Therefore, I recommend getting the game when it's on sale - it'll be worth your money - then.
~~~ Sound ambience ~~~
Well, not too much to say. Music changes according which chapter you're playing in, but don't expect too much. It is trying to fit in this fighting setting as well as possible. And arguably, it is alright. Besides that you just have the sound effects of the fights, that's about it. Not much aboout ambience.
~~~ Graphics ~~~
Cartooney, what can you say? The graphical display of the single enemies is well done, according to the chapter you are playing, but it's minimalistic. Because this game is a comic/cartoon setting, it's alright. It fits in but there's nothing much to complain about. No faces, no expressions, no voices and therefore no need to create the characters too detailled. The levels are nicely designed and blend in well in the settings. Whether you fight rockers, the mafia or the endboss. However, the ninja setting is often kinda.. weird. But meh - you can live with that.
~~~ Gameplay ~~~
It is well done, round based. The decks you have to play are - at least to me - sometimes too difficult. Sure, I can get to the end level but I never managed to win the endboss yet. Might very well be a skill issue, but in 30 hours I still did not get to finish it.
You choose a deck with a certain playstyle when you start your campain, as you progress you get more cards and you can upgrade them. You are being dealed cards on your hands every round, mixing between attacks, defends or movements. You have to strategeically plan your actions and be aware of the cards you might be dealed next and that you still have left, so you have to be at least one or two steps ahead. Kind of like playing chess.
Based on your playstyle, you can play more aggressive or defensive, according to your preferences. However, this will affect your options as further you progress. After making it through once all the way to the endboss, you'll figure out what cards or playstyle you might want to add to your deck, next.
~~~ Final Statement ~~~
This game is fun for casually relaxing, however you still need to use your brain to win each round. When on sale, it is a very nice deal to catch and to play every now and then. This game can be frustrating (at least to me, but that, again, might be a personal skill issue) sometimes but it still is a good deal. I personally would not recommend this game when being full priced, but otherwise totally fine. It is something different and even though it's already four years old - it didn't get worse. I appreciate the minimalistic setup and the action it still provides.
