A great solo Dev title that, while definitely rough around the edges, shows a lot of promise and is a great example of what more can be innovated in the more traditional rogue like space. If you are a fan of difficult but condensed rogue games like Monolith, Wizard of Legend, or Nuclear Throne then you'll find something here you like.

While you can pass this off as another rogue-lite and whatever, this game put together well done and it shouldn't be looked over. It was done by 1 man my dudes. IF anything, you should play it to support a local creator. And if anything, there is a speedrun.com category for this game now: https://www.speedrun.com/night_of_the_blood_moon SUPPORT LOCAL CREATORS!!

its quite a decent game we got here, tho sadly it seems like its updates has halted. if this got more updates, content, bug fixes etc. it would be worth the buy. but since it seems like its been dropped, i wouldn't waste money here, even if it is just a 3.99 euro price tag 7,5/10

Please note development for this game has been abandoned. Despite the "still in development" parts that appear on the store page and inside the game, updates are most likely not to be expected. Hence, the game is, in practice, in its final stage of development. With that out of the way, let's move on to the review. NotBM has a great artistic direction. The soundtrack is cool and catchy, and the visuals are quite awesome. You play as a "nightmare creature" that apparently has to rampage its way through several layers of dreams, which are filled with cartoony creatures and have a sort of naive cuteness to them that echoes a child's imagination. It was gorgeous and I loved it. Now gameplay-wise, it's a classic top-down shooter. Despite the lack of a tutorial, the controls and experience system are pretty easy to get a hang of, and it works just fine. There's a respectable variety of enemies with creative patterns, and a few different weapons you can try out. Interestingly, this game relies a lot more than usual on melee attacks, as you've got a melee option no matter what ranged weapon you choose at the start of the run, and you're bound to use it a lot, as ammunition is very limited and repletes only when you kill stuff. I think that was great idea, as I've always felt great hammering my way through with a bat in EtG or a sledgehammer in Nuclear Throne. :D Also, unlike most games of this type, you don't get to unlock and switch from a ton of different weapons and powerups throughout the course of a run, though, and there's only one boss, and 2(ish) midbosses, which systematically appear in the same order, so it can get repetitive pretty quickly. Especially as the game is quite forgiving when it comes to HP drop rates, and a full run must take something like 20 minutes. However, by the end of the run, you can choose to loop back to the first world with a random curse, and do that indefinitely until you eventually lose, which can make the game significantly harder, and gives it a scoring point for people who like competing for the leaderboards. It's unfortunate that the game doesn't have more content, as it's really fun as it is already, but hey. People have to keep paying their bills. If you ask me, it's very cheap and worth the price.

I have only ever had some problems picking up power-ups but other than that the game runs smoothly for me. Also despite looking easy this game is deceptively challenging. Overall this is a fun game and is definitely worth the price and can also help you improve at other easy bullet hell's.

It's great! The sprites and animations are very beautiful and clean Every enemy and it's variations are very easy to identify Every weapon changes completely how you play and is great for replayability Absolutely love the music Controls for mouse and keyboard are very intuitive and solid (Have yet to try it with a controller) Can't wait for it to have a fully functional stats and leaderboard system

fun but challenging short rounds of running around killing things to get powerups and upgrades and i don't really even know what the story was supposed to be about because it's frantic fast paced fun :] a little excitement when you're bored and don't want to spend a lot of time playing

It is a nice looking game, and the controls are not bad, but it seems to be abandonware. The upgrade window between levels says "in development" all of the leaderboard features say "coming soon" and even the wiki button in main menu takes you to 404 page. I probably wouldn't pay the full price even though it is cheap, unless you have beaten all the other similar games already.
Video (gameplay + commentary):
https://youtu.be/NZNzkn6cBnI
Review:
Tight twinstick frenetic action roguelite that reminds me of games like Enter the Gungeon and Binding of Isaac. Easily recommended! This game has solid and precise mouse/keyboard controls, a catchy soundtrack, uniformly beautiful pixel art and animation, and most of all, a fun game loop. You're basically a psychotic road runner that invades dreams and beats up cute and adorable stuff, which you accomplish with your fists or with one of a few different ranged weapons including a boomerang, crossbow, hookshot, magical orb, and more. You amass feathers (your currency) which allows you to permanently unlock each ranged weapon. If you die, you have to start all over and try again. It has the right amount of punishment as your skill grows and clearing stages will seem easier over time. Between levels, you are also able to select from randomized perks that will assist each run. This can include stuff like a bigger health bar, faster movement speed, and longer dashing. There is a pretty varied amount of stages as well, ranging from kid bedrooms, to gardens, to candyland-esque landscapes, to a winter wonderland, and more. I'm really digging it! It's got the right amount of fun, challenge, and progression. Definitely recommended.
