Confusingly weird, but incredibly intriguing game! Mechanically, it reminded me of a rail shooter with the puzzle elements and map traversal of a Resident Evil game. Contained a good variety of enemy types I didn't hate! I have some nitpicks, like how slow it eventually starts to feel switching between characters, and some bosses had their oddities, but they proved not to be a dealbreaker. Narratively, this game is a fucking ride. It's so obtuse, mysterious, and uninformative, but it had me along for the ride til the very end. It has its hands in everything, from the divine to the political to the psychological. All intertwined in incomprehensible ways, and I doubt most will ever fully understand what was happening without consulting a wiki or an analysis, but even those can read like conjecture.

I will try to answer these two questions: a) What makes me say whether it is worth buying or not. b) What makes me return to a game. a) if I regret buying it. In this case, I admit that I was looking for a traditional rail shooter, but I bought this one because it was something else. It would take time to get used to (and appreciate it then), but all that makes me glad I tried it. So my answer is ambiguous: it's worth giving it a try (or more than one), but for now it hasn't really grabbed me. b) if, whether it's good or not, it's for me. A cult game means a rich and unique vision. As I said, I haven't gotten into it yet, so its peculiarity irritates me, and its richness doesn't interest me.

When the gameplay is directed, it seems awkward to me; when the faithful are shadows with acid, I see puppets, etc.
'Japan's subordination to the United States after World War II' should be a wrapper in which to take root, but my attention slips away.
ab) I haven't gone into it yet, the fact that it is not a traditional rail shooter is decisive, and I think it's an interesting twist on the genre (I think we can continue to see it that way).

Beautiful as a flower painted in blood, As insoluble as Henry James' "The Sacred Fount." My favorite game of all time. There's nothing else like it, and I doubt there ever will be. Make sure to play the "hard mode," killer8, which opens after you finish killer7. "The world never changes, it just keeps turning." Indeed.

One of the most insane rides i've ever gone through while playing a video game. Insane storyline about global politics, power and corruption, with a phenomenal cast of characters and surprisingly a fun and engaging gameplay loop. While this game might not be for everybody (i mean this is a Suda51 game), for those who click with it, you're gonna love it no doubt. Hoping one day Capcom let Suda and Mikami tell the story how it was supposed to or make a follow up. May the lord smile, and the devil have mercy. God bless Suda51.

One of the most unique games I've ever played. Both gameplay and aesthetic wise. Well worth wandering down it's halls.

Much like No More Heroes, another one of Suda51’s works, I completely underestimated Killer7 when I first booted it up. I wasn’t expecting much from the story and figured it would just be another mechanically solid and entertaining game. Boy, was I wrong. Killer7 is packed with deep, layered lore that only fully reveals itself at the story’s climax, and when it does, it hits hard. As expected with Suda’s games, I loved the gameplay loop, it stayed fun and engaging throughout, but what really makes this game shine is its unforgettable cast of characters. Trust me, this one is absolutely worth experiencing.

Just talk to Iwazaru until things make sense and you'll enjoy this game. It has replayability, so if you don't understand something yet, that might be intentional. ENA: Dream BBQ is a good primer on understanding the lingo of the game (and free!) if you want something risk free that will confuse you in a similar manner. Probably. I might just be saying that because of the grasshopper with a face logo.

extremely stylish game with a great soundtrack, still sounds and looks great 20 years on from its release. the gameplay feels ridiculously easy at times though, the plot can be a little convoluted and sadly for americans this game is why trump is
shutting down the department of education
, but the game more than makes up for it.
