I am not a great game developer. In fact, I have done zero game developing ever. I am, nonetheless, a superior developer to whomever the fudging fudge made the manequin levels. They are like somebody went "how can we make the *worst* out of the 2.5D design we got here?". I have been playing games for over 25 years, to this day I have not played anything as technically atrocious as this game. I shouldn't be afraid of mechanical hurdles, I should be afraid of the actual horror elements. Playing the third level killed any joy I had from the unique setting and precious atmosphere. Buy this on sale and use a trainer, save yourselves hours of frustration.

Little Nightmares II is a tense, atmospheric horror game where you guide Mono through a nightmare world to rescue Six. The creepy creatures, unsettling environments, and refined puzzle-platforming make for a deeply immersive experience. With its chilling visuals and minimal sound design, it delivers a thrilling blend of stealth and eerie exploration. A must-play for fans of dark, atmospheric games.

Here's a quick review of my thoughts after beating "Little Nightmares 2" on the PC. + Atmosphere is incredible, just like the first game. The world is a literal beauty to take in. It feels alive. +- Graphics are tight. Lighting is good, so are the textures. The only thing that feels off is that compared to the first game that has a lot of dynamic colour changes in its world design, this game’s main colours are only blue and black. It’s disappointing honestly. Every area kinda looks the same because of it. +- Controls aren’t too good. I know they’re forcefully made to be loose for realism’s sake, but that doesn’t help with the gameplay at all. All actions have a windup animation, grabbing stuff is hit or miss, and attacking enemies with a weapon is terrible. The controls-to-gameplay ratio is quite bad honestly. +- Checkpoints range from exactly where you died to multiple rooms over. I don’t need to explain how this can be irritating because I’m sure most people aren’t that dumb. +- Overall scariness is more on the unsettling side just like it was with the first game, and it does a good job at that too. Unfortunately, when you factor in all the times you keep dying in a row at an idiotic segment, the scariness is kinda gone in place of fatigue. And let me tell you, this game has its fair share of what I phrase as… - “What was that?!” moments. Whether it’s having to attack an enemy with perfect timing using the loose and laggy controls, the camera not showing if you are in the right spot to make a perfect jump, or just general retarded moments. This is what made me dislike this game a lot especially compared to the first game. The challenge is increased but the controls and mechanics aren’t heightened to adjust to that surge in difficulty. Be prepared to die over and over again in a specific spot due to mentally ill gameplay segments and controls unfit for the job. - My, oh, my, are there glitches in this game. I actually got myself a really big one that forced me to both relaunch the game and restart the chapter I was on. And you know what? This is a well-known glitch that has been encountered since the release of this game that they directly refuse to patch up. Isn’t that the most darndest thing?! How on earth do you have a game-breaking glitch in a linear game that takes only 5 hours to beat... AND HAVEN’T PATCHED IT UP IN 4 YEARS?!? - Again, with the long unskippable credits. I didn’t play this game twice so I’m unsure if it’s the same on a second playthrough like with the first “Little Nightmares”. I certainly didn’t like this game enough to try to find out. Overall quality of experience: 7/10. I’m Mixed about this game. I won’t sugarcoat it; “Little Nightmares 2” kinda blows compared to the first “Little Nightmares”. Everything this game does, the first one does better. As a game by itself though, it’s still not that good. This game plays like it should’ve been the first title to come out in the series, not the anticipated follow-up sequel. Overall, unless you are the biggest “Little Nightmares” fan, avoid this game. I only got it cause it was 95% off on Steam so I’d say it’s worth one playthrough at that price point. With any luck, when “Little Nightmares 3” launches this year, it learns from the mistakes of the second game and doesn’t follow suit of them.

Stop scrolling. Play Little Nightmares. Both games sat in my library for years — when I finally played them, unforgettable. What looks like a creepy puzzle game hides a far bigger story, rich atmosphere, and twists you’ll never see coming. If it’s in your backlog, take this as your sign — stop waiting and play it now.

Little Nightmares II builds on everything the first game excelled at, especially in its haunting atmosphere and beautifully crafted art design. With the addition of another companion, it introduces richer gameplay and environmental storytelling opportunities. I especially enjoyed the moments where you can fight back, adding a refreshing twist to the tension instead of always relying on escape.

There’s no voice here to guide you. No light you can trust Only darkness The kind of darkness that lives in your childhood memories when something shifted under the bed… and you didn’t even dare to blink This world isn’t made for you It’s made to consume The walls bend, the windows stare, even the floor beneath your feet feels unsure of itself You’re not just small here you’re invisible A silent shadow in a distorted, broken world But you’re not just a piece of cloth to be blown away by the wind You’re searching. For safety. For answers Maybe for yourself… or maybe for the tiny hand that sometimes reaches for yours No name, no words but always beside you The monsters here don’t just have teeth or claws they look human. A teacher whose neck stretches like nightmare logic, a doctor who stitches what shouldn’t exist, statues that turn deathly when touched by light. And you... you must crawl, hide, move silently, and swallow pieces of fear each time just to move forward. And just when you think the nightmare is ending it begins again. Because fear doesn’t visit once and leave fear builds a home inside you And when you stand before that final cursed door… you’re left with a choice Not to save the world Not to slay a monster Just to save yourself even if it means being alone Some nightmares don’t wake up because they were never dreams to begin with
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3. VR REVIEW ONLY!
You can view my VR gameplay here: https://youtu.be/oIKIBHhO37E Yes, you can play Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition in VR with Ray-Tracing On!! This was a FREE update for everyone who owns the game. When you launch the game, it gives you the option to start in Enhanced Edition. I then used the completely free UEVR mod by Praydog (search for it), nightly version. I used OpenXR, native stereo, world scale 5, 2D screen mode (play in 3D in VR so that you don't see the broken geometry at a distance), and Ray-Tracing on Very-High and most graphical settings on Very-High on my RTX 3080 using link cable on the Meta Quest 3. No motion controls, played with gamepad. Game is a visual delight. It really runs well (I was pushing the graphics though due to Ray-Tracing being on Very-High, just lowering to High and I was getting a steady 90 fps). Ray-Tracing brings each scene to life in VR. It's really the best way to experience this game. It has never looked better. VR Rating 10/10.
I bought this game! I want to LOVE Little Nightmares, but some of the puzzle / combat is so annoying. It's a great game, but know that keyboard / mouse are NOT compatible with some of the combat / puzzle (hospital - flashlight) and even with controller, the "hands" scene is completely annoying. There are a LOT of memorable moments, but the lows are SO low that I'm sad to say I'm not wanting to play this much longer if I die another 100 times before figuring out how to get past the damn freaking hands.

If you enjoyed the first game then you'll love this one just as much. It's a great second game that keeps the creepy atmosphere of the first game while adding in more interesting puzzles and new mechanics. Find the courage to confront your nightmares. Good luck, little ones.
