Please read at your own risk![/i][/h1] [u][h1]REVIEW:[/h1][/u] Finally, after spending over 100 hours with this series, I am finished. The Corpse Party is over.. Yeah, there wasn't ever a party. BUT! I had quite a good experience with this series. It's taken a lot of the negative things in 2024 that have happened to me off my mind, and for that, I am grateful. It's been quite the journey to Heavenly Host, or "Nirvana", which is the revamped Heavenly Host for Blood Drive. It took me a while to get used to certain elements for this game, especially the chibi-styled characters.. cringy. I decided and promised myself that I'd wear headphones during this game, to get the full horror effects of the dummy head mic, which produce 3D sounds. It's a staple in the Corpse Party series. This makes the games scarier: the sounds are 3D, come from the left, the right, and even behind you (HOW?!), creating a sense of being truly surrounded by demonic presences (and even flies. Yes. Flies. And it actually feels WEIRD). I *deeply* regret not playing the other games with headphones, because this game is nowhere near as scary. It's unfortunate, but I didn't mind that too much. With countless hours of getting to know the cast, I was more enveloped in the universe and wanted to know how they were going to end it. And... mostly, it was alright. Lots of people ABSOLUTELY hate this game and say it's the worst entry of the series. If we're not counting 'Birthday Bash', I would probably agree - but not by huge margins. There were definitely flaws and strong annoyances in the story and the gameplay; there's no doubt about it. However, I enjoyed it and it wasn't bad enough to ruin the franchise for me. I'm even looking forward to the new game, Corpse Factory II: Darkness Distortion (which *probably* won't have any of the same characters, unless there's some big twist that ends up bringing back the Kisaragi High school group). [u][h1]RUNDOWN:[/h1][/u] [u][h3] STORY[/h3][/u] Blood Drive introduces a few new characters. IMO, this decision was the wrong call. The new characters are mostly annoying and ruin a huge chunk of the story. I wish it would've stuck with the OG cast. The new characters in reference are Misuto, Magari and Ms. Kuon. I'm not even sure who I hate more. Probably Misuto... he gets on my nerves, has an awful character design (all the new characters do), and is an extremely weak antagonist. Every time he spoke, I'd yawn. But, really, the same goes for Magari. Along with the new characters brings pointless chaos. It involved secret societies, like the Illuminati, which bores the hell out of me. I hate this type of trope. The new "demon" character, Sachi, was.. funny? Probably a bad thing. Every time Sachi would come on the screen and *cackle*, I'd bust out laughing; it wasn't scary. Sachiko's contributions to Blood Drive felt beyond meaningless, sadly... I ended up liking Aiko, which is a semi-new character; I was shocked because I hated her in Birthday Bash! I *don't* hate this game or even the story - or maybe I was just happy to see the main characters again for a sequel. I especially loved *SOME* of the Extra Chapters. In particular, Morishige and Kizami's Extra Chapter 1 "Last Waltz". It's about time these two met! I wish more of the MAIN game would've included Chapters like this! [u][h3] GAMEPLAY[/h3][/u] THE SHADOWS ARE NOT FUN; THEY ARE ANNOYING! I hated getting chased while exploring, and they're hard to kite without a Talisman. The exploration was alright. [u][h3] VISUALS[/h3][/u] I hated the chibi characters. But damn, the artwork in this game is 😘👌 ~crispy~. HDR looking anime drawings are surprisingly FIRE. [u][h3] DIFFICULTY[/h3][/u] SHADOWS ARE ANNOYING! LEAVE ME ALONE! Pretty easy game, though. Save often. [u][h3] MUSIC & SFX[/h3][/u] The music was almost amazing. The SFX were good, but meh. Although, I LOVED hearing the BA-DUM-DUM-DA-DUM-DA-DUUUUM theme, every time I got an item/Student ID. [u][h3] VOICE ACTING[/h3][/u] I had my own personal character development. Read my first review of Corpse Party (2021). I didn't much care for Japanese voice acting. But now? I'm a fan! Most of the voice acting was great. There's still the whole *PANT* and *WHEEZE* and *GULP* as the previous games. Also, I still can't stand Yuka, Sayaka and Inumaru! Not just the characters, but also the voices! 😅 [u][h3] GRIND[/h3][/u] For 100% it's semi-grindy. I ended up getting lazy and used a Cheat Engine sheet to speed up my 100% completion. [u][h3] EXTRAS & SIDE QUESTS[/h3][/u] All of the extras like the previous games had are back. There's a new "Encyclopedia Obscura", definitions for terms that the game throws at you. It's fine, but I didn't care to read any of it. The final "Soulful Testimonies" are back! It's interviews from the VA cast. I recommend listening to all of them AFTER you finish the game! Finally, there are 8 Extra Chapters. Quality varies. [u][h3] GAME TIME[/h3][/u] It'll take you around 20-30 hours to finish. [u][h3] END-GAME CONTENT[/h3][/u] N/A [u][h3] REPLAYABILITY[/h3][/u] You'll want to replay the Chapters to get "Wrong Ends" and the "True Ends". [u][h3] PRICE[/h3][/u] If you are a fan of Corpse Party and have to see it through to the end, I would buy. That being said, I'd still recommend buying it on sale. [u][h3] BUGS[/h3][/u] I didn't encounter many bugs, besides a few weird audio during a couple of songs. There's a softlock in Chapter 9 if you have a monitor above 60 FPS, and the FPS settings inside the menu seemed bugged, so hopefully you have a spare monitor if it is. [u][h3] PC SPECS[/h3][/u] Has a lot of different choices for resolution. You'll need a decent/good PC for smooth gameplay. [u][h3] AUDIENCE[/h3][/u] MATURE. ONLY. I get why some people don't like this. But.. This is damn masterpiece! Story 10/10. I get all the criticisms, but in my eyes all those flaws work perfectly. I love this damn game.

The story is complete whiplash but ties around to making sense. I think it's better to try and comprehend everything *after* it's over. Which isn't necessarily a good thing, but... I honestly preferred the more down-to-earth style from the previous games. I'd say it was enjoyable. If you push the weird parts out of the way, it's worth the time. Gameplay was good but i hate the damned phantoms music and art is very good as usual 🕺would party again

It was good, kind of eh in the first half but the last 3 chapters made it good for the most part Most of the extra chapters were such a damn snoozefest- some of them were just of lame ah characters that aren't relevant at all, like the kizami guy, why is he still here? No idea why they added a bunch of new characters and lock the lore of some of them behind the goofy ah spinoff, or would it be called the actual 3rd game since it does take place between this one and book of shadows, and it has stuff that forwards the plot (like just an inch). Doesn't matter either way because spoiler! Most of them new rats don't make it, only like one or two- Ayumi was such a dumbasstwerp like why is she so dumb in the first half, only locking in on the last chapters after having a goober take her back in time. Kind of a sloppy ending, and idrc who that skeleton shit was at the end. Actually fuck most of this game. But I do like it overall! :D
