At it's best, Odyssey an okay rpg set on ancient Greece, accompanied by a fitting soundtrack and a half decent, although quite inconsistent, story. As with any Ubisoft game, in terms of presentation at least, Odyssey delivers. At it's worst however, Odyssey is a dreadful, deplorable and grindy mess of a game that constantly disrupts the flow of gameplay, especially with the terribly designed Nemesis-esque mercenary system that bombards you non-stop with tanky enemies at every turn, even in the middle of a story quest. Speaking of the story, you will constantly find yourself being underleveled in order to continue your playthrough. At one point there is a MASSIVE level gap between two missions, and grinding xp is NOT fun in Odyssey. But while its not fun to grind xp, one could argue that by utilizing this form of progression, gating you from main quests, the game encourages interacting with every aspect of it in order to level up (for example, doing side quests or getting some collectibles instead of rushing all of the main quests), but truthfully, this is just lazy game design, and a truly well thought out gameplay and progression model will be more than enough to encourage players to do a game's side content. At the end of the day, Odyssey is a game that is plagued by pacing issues, something which was not a thing in Origins, but I guess this is what happens when you have Ubisoft Quebec and not Montreal develop an AC game. Besides pacing, crashing is a massive issue with this game. While it mainly occurred while fast traveling between areas or to my ship, it could happen anywhere too. It's not an issue related to performance, in fact it ran very well with everything set to max, but even when I set every setting down to low I would still encounter a lot of crashes. I blame DX12. Both pacing and crashing issues turn what could have been a dream rpg set in ancient Greece into probably the worst AC game made to date. With DLC's, Ubisoft takes one step forward and another step back. Legacy of the Blade is not innovative in any way. It's set in the base game's map and mainly sticks to telling a new story. It's ok I guess, the story is better than the base game's but it's nothing mind-blowing. Fate of Atlantis on the other hand sacrifices it's story (it's really bad) in exchange for 3 new mini open worlds, each representing a place in Greek mythology. All three environments, just like the base game, are gorgeous and they are filled with new activities that are not present in Greece. It also adds new enemies. Buying the season pass grants you a bonus mission and you can get an extra mission through Ubisoft Connect rewards. 4/10

- fantastic world but way too big - some really good quests but most are repetitive - cool skills, lots of items and build customizations, decent rpg but its nothing super special - game starts off really good but falls off in the mid-to late game - first dlc is super bad (Nataka...), second one is really cool (lots of variety) - the layla part (in the main game aswell as in the second dlc) can't possibly be worse (one of the worst "characters" I ever had to play) - very cool cult system but annoying mercenary mechanics Still barely a thumbs up cause this game fails to entertain you for its whole journey. I get that people vote this game down just because of it's micro transactions. Im not doing that but I can understand it. This practice is just despicable but I don't think any dev that actually worked on the core of this game is in favor of this. The game itself is not bad, especially the world looks soooo good.

I think the only wrong in this game is the title because the game play. It is an rpg game similar to witcher 3. Even though I highly enjoyed it has a great story with some choises, beautiful ancient Greek design, countless hours of fun game play.

Regardless of how good this game is, In the first 2 hours I spent playing, I had to sign in to UPLAY, which was down, then sync my achievements (wouldn't let me launch without syncing my 0 achievements!), then sign in to UPLAY AGAIN to verify i'd bought a copy (Its in my steam library, why isn't that enough?). so actually only played 45 minutes, which were fine, not worth the time to get it running. Ubisoft are an awful company, who I don't think know how to make functioning services. sure the games great though.

Odyssey is not like classic AC but its more like an action rpg game like elden ring sort of but less gloomy. The visuals were by far the best out of any game I've played and also loved the story did some mistakes mid story but at the end got the happy ending. Loved Kassandra and Barnabas was the GOAT, true homie. Would recommend though this might not please the classic AC players still 10/10.

-== 11/10 ==- Extremely beautiful graphics + audio, mix of animated and in game cutscenes was an interesting overlap in a game, definitely get the hours out of it full price, but I paid $30AUD for the main game and all dlcs + extras. It's not tedious or hard/annoying to 100%, quite easy to do all during a play-through without paying too much attention to it, you won't need additional saves or new game+ to 100% achievements Pro; - Extremely open world - Graphics + Audio - Story + Questlines - Replayable - Choices matter but also don't - Can fast travel to your ship / docks around the map - Greek mythology - Greek mythology - Greek mythology - Cutscenes are short/interesting enough to not need to skip or be bored sitting through ( they do give you information and ways you should path in some quests so pay attention, or don't, again it didn't matter as much as it seems) - Auto saves are on point but can quick save or main save - Choose your own playing path (if you want to run in blades ready as warrior, stealth it out as assassin, or range as hunter) Con; - Combat / Assassination (quite clunky most of the time) - Fast travel points are eh - Stamina limit on horse (it's extremely slow to travel on horse) - Follow road option (90% of the time it won't path to a road or will say no road nearby) - DLC's while interesting, are kind of just a copy paste and very repetitive - Greek mythology - Slight bugs here or there, not game breaking - Different tree types didn't matter too much. ( I didn't path into hunter much nor assassin, still slayed gg ez mode on normal ) ^ this could be a me issue, maybe i needed to play on a harder difficulty. Overall, decent game, recommend. My favourite thing to do was use the kick ability to kick every enemy off a high point to instant death. It's also extremely funny that most enemies will freeze/lock when on fire because they're burning and just stand there screaming "put it out, help me, aaaa" (which is poor combat)

This is the best Assassin's Creed I've ever played. Before, my favorite was Origins. However, This game is a solid 10/10. I have played over 100 hours, and I still am NO WHERE close to being finished. The map is huge. The graphics are beautiful. It's so different than the other games in the series! I didn't want to purchase it out of fear that it may bore me (I really don't care about Greek Mythology/Ancient Greece), BUT this game is not what I was expecting at all. I want to list some things you should know BEFORE YOU START PLAYING: 1. CHOICES ALWAYS MATTER. This game has 9 different endings. The responses you give to some of the NPCs ultimately determines your outcome of the entire game. 2. YOU GET A BOAT! PIRATE BATTLES! You can use this to travel around all of the islands of ancient Greece, OR you can use fast travel as you unlock them, and FINALLY... By foot. I prefer by foot, because YOU NEED materials to upgrade your weapons. Wood, leather, and iron primarily. DO. NOT. SELL. YOUR. LEATHER. It's the only thing I keep running out of. You can obtain it by hunting. 3. The NPCs dialogues are hilarious. I have laughed so hard at what they've said, so don't skip those scenes! 4. DO NOT SELL ALL SELL-ABLE ITEMS, even if they don't seem like you'll need them. There are side quests that require certain things, (you can google which ones to keep and which ones to sell.) It's easier to already have these things on hand instead of having to go hunt for them. When it comes to weapons, if they're common, sell them or break them down for extra iron and leather etc. Your choice. However, if you have a weapon you REALLY like, you can continue to upgrade it and keep it. You can also engrave weapons, which means add different "perks" ? to them... Like "Deals 15 percent more damage" etc. 5. You are a mercenary... AKA BOUNTY HUNTER. Do not turn down money for jobs, even if you feel bad. I struggled for a while keeping my money up, but then instead of doing things "for free" I decided to start taking their money. Why not. 6. USE IKAROS. Your eagle. You can easily spot treasure, war supplies, soldiers etc. and tag their locations, without having to hunt for them. I use Ikaros way more than I used my bird in Origins, and it's been so helpful!! Prepare yourself for the plot twists, drama, and funny cut scenes. I love the multiple response options you get in this game, like being able to flirt with other characters... But, also prepare yourself for heartbreak as well. Especially during the beginning of the game, where Kassandra/Alexios has a memory of their childhood... No spoilers here... And it relates to actual Greek Mythology. Pretty cool to learn somewhat, real? History. I am playing as Kassandra, not Alexios, because I read that if you play as her, she has more perks like more empathy and dialogue. This is NOT a boring game, I considered the beginning of Mirage to be boring, and I'm still having problems getting into it. I jumped right on this game, and I cannot rave more about how amazing it is. I wake up wanting to play, I can't touch my other games, it's just not possible. I have too much to do still! I LOVED Origins, and raved about it, but this game definitely has it topped now. This game is a MUST BUY. A STAPLE. FOR ANYONE who loves open world games. Fighting with swords, spears, bows etc. on games relieves stress in a way that playing CS and using traditional weapons like AKs or knives don't. There aren't many games I would pay full price for, but I'd definitely pay full price for this one. If you can get it on sale, DEFINITELY get this. I'm telling you. It is a work of art!
