This is one of the route that I really like and enjoy alot I mean I really like the Soldier Summit route and it's Extension to Salt Lake City and the Denver & Rio Grande Wester Railroad that it's one of my favourite fallen flag railroad. It have a lovely view on my opinion while driving from Helper and climbing to Soldier Summit passing throught the Cayon at the side railway, same when you depart from Salt Lake City. It have a really nice rolling stock in my opinion from the 100 tons Coal Hoppers, the Caboose, D&RGW Brown boxcar, D&RGW 16 gallons silver tank cars and the unbranded gondola. The three locomotive that come with the route and extension if they are same are nice, I enjoy using the EMD SD40T-2 (Tunnel Motor) for coal and mixed freight train on quick drive and also on the career scenario, same for the EMD GP9 one of the feature of this route that I really like are that you can turn on the road number light, step light and instrumental light on the GP9, for the SD40T-2 is the same that you can turn on the road number light, instrumental light and the mars light and the Amtrak EMD F40PH California Zephyr. For the rest is a very nice route that I would suggest this route, it also have other stand alone dlc that can be used on this route like the DTM D&RGW EMD SD50 (I have the SD50 and it's one of my favourite EMD locomotive that used the D&RGW I also suggest to get the SD50), DTG EMD SD9, DTM EMD SW1200, the DTG Western Pacific California Zephyr that come with the Western Pacific EMD FP7 and Denver & Rio Grande Western EMD F9 (Another dlc that I really like and enjoy using it alot that I would also suggest it) and the DTG EMD GP40-2. If I need to give a vote at Soldier Summit route and Salt Lake City Extension according to my expectations will be 10/10

I wanted to be exited about this route extension, especially as I'm not only familiar with the area, but I also have family who have both retired from and continue to work for UP in SLC and surrounding subdivisions and service units, as well as the Intermodal Facility. But there are a lot of issues with the quick drive (entire environments not completed and it essentially looks like a loco has been populated onto the mostly BLANK drawing board with a few pieces here and there) and other play features that make this feel like it's still a work in progress that shouldn't have been pushed out before it was finished. This one definitely needs to be pulled back into the yard and completed before releasing it to the main line. I wish I could get my money back for this one.

This is a good route. Starting at Provo the Salt Lake Route begins it's 50 mile journey to Salt Lake. Visit the city of Orem where the Salt Lake Sub fallows the Provo and Jordon Rivers along Utah Lake to American Fork. Visit the legendary Geneva Steel plant of Valcraft in it's hayday and watch as trains deliver the loads that made Geneva Steel famous. Visit American Fork where the line enters the Jordon Narrows on a 1.8% grade into the Salt Lake Valley. Arriving in Salt Lake visit the Savage and Garfield shops at Midvile Yard where Utah locals are at work 24/7 and visit Rio Grande's legendary Roper Yard where the trains that head over Soldier Summit and the Overland Route are made. Visit downtown where trains still stop at Rio Station and the Salt Lake Union Depot under the lights of Temple Square and snake your way around Grant Interlocking. All of this and more can be found in the Salt Lake Route. New equipment in this route are The Rio Grande GP40 switchers in the liveries of the railroads that serve Roper Yard. D&RGW dolomite hoppers and auto parts boxcars in the 86 and 50 foot types complete the pack along with covered hoppers, coil steel cars, and an assortment of rolling stock all of this can be found in the Salt Lake Route.

Excited when I saw this extension package, but disappointed with the experience. Seems to be little effort on details. I have lived in Utah County since early grade school and I can't find any familiar landmarks that should be there. The railway through American Fork passes through town, but there is very little town. Even the SLC skyline is covered with clouds and no mountains. Enjoy Train Simulator very much, but this add-on was a disappointment.

Good route, reasonable and logical career scenarios, but quick drive doesn't work any way that I set it up. I have subscribed to the QD scenario that Mortus5 created and it saves the game. It makes one wonder as to what kind of QC DTG does before releasing stuff, seemingly not very much. A nice extension to the Soldier Summit DLC, only spoiled by typical DTGitis.

I really wanted to like this route as I live in the area but it just doesn't capture they SLC area at all. The original route had the same problem from Mapleton/Spanish Fork to Provo, in that there is no sense of the mountains. SLC is a valley. Right up against an impressive and dominating mountain chain to the east, with lesser, but still imposing mountains to the west. Due to TS's rendering and how the route is designed, some poorly detailed slopes are sometimes visible to the east on max view distance, with nothing to the west. The section after American Fork feels like driving through Kansas, not Utah. The mountains themselves when rendered look nothing like the actual mountains. Craggy rock faces, draws and boulder fields are all replaced by a green texture. The trees are simply laughable and show that someone not familiar with the high desert made the route, as in route there are lush pine forests at the bases of the mountains, and scraggy brush for the higher elevations; the exact opposite of how mountains are out here! It's a shame, I really wish they had tried better to capture the mountains through the 3D engine, or at the very least throw some textures on the skyboxes to show the mountains far into the distance.

I love this route, and considered the D&RGW 'my' home railroad, but dang the dispatcher for this pack has some strange issues, which is part of the problem with the Quick Drive. Like many people, I use Quick Drive when I just want to run a train with other traffic on the line and not spend what is potentially a couple of hours creating and testing a scenario from scratch. I set up a pair of QD routes using the RGZ from Helper to Provo, and then from Provo to Salt Lake Union. There was no problem loading the first QD, but near the end of the run, the dispather routes the train through Provo Yard 10 instead of the mainline, and then lines the switch against you with no trains coming and no way to change the switch. The second QD wouldn't load at all due to the game placing opposing traffic on the single main west of Provo and then fails due to unresolvable consist clashes. I corrected that issue by editing the scenario and eliminating the conflicts, saved it, quit to the desktop and restarted the game, only to have the dispatch system unable to find it's way to Salt Lake Union (it routed me to the D&RGW Depot, which, while historically correct for the RGZ, isn't where I wanted to go and isn't even on the same track), and then it threw a switch under the train as it was passing the Depot resulting in a derailment. Despite all that, the route is enjoyable to run. It offers both slow climbs up 2% grades and a chance for faster running between Provo and Salt Lake City. The scenery is nicely reproduced, and I was able to recognize locations I'd visited many times along the way. The route can be traversed in its entirety in two relatively short settings with Provo being a very convieninet halfway point. One observation, though: The 'S" curves at Nash (MP 722) are tagged as 70 MPH curves. The indicator on the UI that indicates excessive lateral forces begs to differ. These aren't unsolvable problems. This is a wonderful addition to the Soldier Summit route, but these were also obvious issues that became apparent after just a couple of hours of casual gameplay and should have been found in testing. In it's current state, it going to be a frustrating experience for anything but carerr and workshop scenarios.

I cannot finish the 135min senerio. I get a red light to the yard and i wait. im ahead of time. theres always a train sittiting in helper. then it heads out. By the time its out and i move in i get a -1350 point for being late. like everything this company does. maybe it worked fine day one, and again i waited to long to play it. then they released something and it buggered up the code and messed up something else. IT WILL NEVER GET FIXED. Just like the up turbine pack still broken.

I have just done the freight run from Salt Lake City to Provo. The run went well with no Frame Rate problems and I had my system on the Highest graphics settings. The only gliches I noticed, was the water in several of the canals was running in the wrong direction. About half way along the run on the right were some Motorway Lights that are floating above the ground a couple of scale metres. Vehicles run through your train at the second to last rail/road crossing as you enter the Provo Yard from Salt Lake City.

Review for Train Simulator: Salt Lake City Route Extension Add-On... I had many issues with Quick Drive scenarios not loading correctly. I have as a result done a Workshop item for QD between freight yards in Salt Lake City and Provo. The workshop item is here if you would like to try it... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1389218070 After being able to run with QD though, I do love this extension. Very nice work on track assets and scenery. It is an enjoyable 45+ mile drive. Recommended.
