This is on the DLC "A-10C: Tactical Training Qualification Campaign" only. I love DCS but not pleased with A-10C: Tactical Training Qualification Campaign. It hangs up at times even when you do everything just right. You just keep waiting on the guy to go to the next step and nothing happens.

Only buy this campaign if you need more frustration in your life. I had hoped that it would provide some much needed instruction on how to use the A-10C and it's systems. Instead it just provided an opportunity for me to be humiliated vicariously by the campaign designers through the person of my "instructor" when I could not follow his instructions because they were unclear or incomplete, or because the missions are designed so narrowly that any deviation from the expected parameters causes unexpected behaviour that results in a "failure". The missions are very long and include a great deal of "briefing material". Which is great, except that if you miss one small detail at the end of a mission you have to sit through the whole process again - including having to start the aircraft all over again (and we all know how long that takes - and how exciting it is). Overall this feels much more like an ego trip by the campaign designers than an effort to educate the average player. Just read the forum help posts - they almost all consist of condescending advice to do things like "listen to the briefing" or "practice some more", or my favourite, "repair your DCS installation". Rough translation - any problems must be your fault for not playing the mission the way we do. Silly noob. Well, DCS tells me that I have over 400 hours flying this game, so I may not be a professional sim pilot - but I am NOT a noob and I get tired of being told I am because I don't understand instructions that are unclear, incomplete, or just plain incorrect. Or because the level of difficulty has been turned up to the point where a casual player cannot possibly succeed. In the end, you probably better off making your own missions in the mission editor to test the various systems and functions in the manual than you are subjecting yourself to this kind of torture. Put this DLC down and step away.

It's a good campaign. After finishing it, I learnt a lot of combat tactical knowledge, which make DCS more real. I planned to play it second even third time. If it can fit into A10C II tank killer, that would be even better.

Refunding. Don't buy this. The missions have a really cool idea behind them, but are horrible in practice. Controllers are slow to respond, yet time limits are enforced, missions seemingly hang randomly for no reason, and the second you leave the *invisible and only described by lat/long coordinates in the initial brief* zone, you fail.

First of all, I thought this had something to do with training, but instead it is a hard core campaign where you are expected to do things without any proper explanation, and you cannot miss the (not clearly defined) restrictions by an inch. Once you fail, and you will, you get shout at with a very realistic and very loud military personnel. I'm not taking this as I'm trying to have fun while learning. Asked for refund after very brief trial of this.

I've played through both the Basic flight training qualification and the Advanced flight training qualification. Both are at times buggy, requiring a little bit of online assistance to meet the parameters for success. They are also both very strict and unforgiving. Despite that, they were manageable missions that force the player to reach a high standard of performance, and I found them very useful and challenging. Unfortunately, I have to recommend staying away from this one. I've attempted mission 1 multiple times, followed all instructions, and performed all attacks appropriately. There are absolutely no instructions following the third and final JTAC. I spent 15 minutes in a holding pattern waiting for follow on instructions... nothing. At the end of VUL and the end range time as stated in the brief, proceeding to the range exit Waypoint incurs a mission failure for going out of bounds. I don't know it it's just bugged, but there is nothing in the briefing providing instruction, nor are there any in flight instructions from the flight examiner. It's a shame because I can see a lot of thought and work went into designing the missions, but I've run out of patience. I'm not willing to spend hours of my time repeating missions and hoping the mission triggers work properly or discovering what non-communicated step is required to proceed. Unless this campaign is updated and working properly, I can't recommend it at all.
