I bought this and like the other reviews, I can't control it. All I have is thrust. I'm very unhappy I was hoping this would be fixed by 2021.

This DLC is not good I'm not going to list everything that's wrong with it, heading Bug and course knobs don't work, no lights operate. No GPS /Map. Speed bug not working. blah blah blah
Looks good, engines sounds on start up good, but that's about it.
On take off it goes into steep climb, can't control it. the list could go on but i'm not.
flies like a wardrobe.
Also with this DLC installed, and on start up of FSX an error message comes on screen .
I quote " FLIGHT SIMULATOR HAS DETECTED A PROBLEM WITH A THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE PROGRAM(ADD ON)
NAME : XMLTools v2.01 DLL
VERSION : 2.0.1
COMPANY : TOM AGUILO
FILE: DLC\702950\MLTools.dll
A message from Microsoft asks if you want to run it ( not recommended )
Having this plane installed cauess FSX to crash? uninstaling it, FSX runs smooth. but as long as I delete the File 702950 first
at C:\program file (86)\steam\steamapps\common\FSX\DLC theres no problems then on, very strange.
The price of £27.99 is just maddness, if you want it badly wait until a sale £13.89, but really at that discounted price its just not good enough. if it were free I wouldn't want it.

this DLC worked on my older computer, but sadly house fires do some nasty stuff. Now that ive been able to use a potatoe of a laptop, ( beggars cant be choosers lol ) the F4 Phantom seems that it is not responding with flight controls. no control surfaces, nada. the internals and startup keyboard commands work however, as well as the camera angles on my joystick, wing fold commands etc, ~ if anyone has an idea on how to get it to work again or re download please leave a reply ? should i delete this file and re install it on store page ---> DLC\702950\MLTools.dll <---im gonna try and get it to work via uninstalling the dlc file in " C:\program file (86)\steam\steamapps\common\FSX\DLC " then re installing the DLC under the managment setting in steams add on selectioon category where you can check off each add on. if not, then a full re install of FsX is my plan lol. I will gladly take any help and suggestions from ye who reads this. i did read alot of the peoples reviews and believe me, when the aircraft does "work", it is worth the denero. sadly for now i awe at it in slew mode.

Flight controls do not work. I have downloaded it twice and both times the flight controls do not work. Money badly spent. I'm not the only one this has happened to. Does Steam read these? Why isn't there a fix?

Personally I like flying this plane, all the bad reviews made me skeptical about buying it but I finally did a few days ago and I have loved every moment of flying it. If i were to give it a criticism its that it has no manual i can find anywhere on the internet or steam so for the first few minutes it a lot of trial and error with all the switches and knobs. Overall a very fun aircraft to fly.

to people who want to fly with this F4
I have the same problem as everyone: the control surfaces system.
I tried searching for the file in the folders
- DLC/702950/_DLCConfigData
- and \SimWorks Studios\VCRedist
Then run all file found in there.
It works, I can control F4 now.
Hope this helps.

I have been cautiously observing this particular aircraft to see if it got updates or new reviews that weren’t so negative. I got on sale anyway and I’m glad I did. It does work, fly and look great! I don’t get what all the fuss is about? I don’t have some high end gaming rig. Just a middle of the road HP. I can’t say it’s perfect but I think I found out why people are freaking out over the controls. The F4 by nature doesn’t perform well at slow speeds, and is not a agile aircraft at any speed. However you can lose control of it when at or near a stall. Just add a little thrust or pitch down some to pick up speed and you will have full control over the plane again. I’ve put 3 hours on this prior to writing this review and just love this plane. It’s touchy sure, but it’s an F4 Phantom, not an F18 Hornet. You do need to pay attention to your situations in order to fly and land this baby successfully. Don’t expect to pull 7 G turns or make slow high banking break outs, the Phantom just isn’t that capable. You can with practice perform up to its full capabilities but if you can’t turn right without controlling your speed and angle of attack consistently, she will bite you.
Be sure to also click “Run” and “Yes or OK” when first asked or you will have other problems with loading and whatnot. Don’t be scared of the “do you trust this publisher” notices just click YES or RUn or whatever it says on your PC that means about the same thing.
It doesn’t tax my system no lag etc, and the plane looks real nice.
The only things I haven’t really figured out yet is how to turn on the gun sight and radar....assuming either actually turn on in the first place? Since I’m not going to be doing any actual combat I don’t really care that much. Still I’d like to at least know either way.
Lots of liveries! A detailed load out configuration tool is included to put all the bombs, rockets, misses and even gun pod and fuel tanks on the belly to whatever your liking is....as long as it is balanced. Very cool. Guns do not fire but “I” key toggles Smoke. You can even load up the combat computer to plot a mission with coordinances in detail and even set wind elevation etc. haven’t tried that yet, but might be cool?
So I guess I’m saying there not really anything wrong with this....I think the bad reviews are from impatient kids or folks with slow PCs, or maybe people who just don’t want to learn how to fly this monster. It’s not the “unflyable” aircraft some make it out to be.
Edit—After several more hours flying this plane I found that the gun sight needs to be centered. So when you turn it on and nothing appears, scroll the dial on the left until the sight comes into view.
Also it seems that not all liveries are created equal? I can’t explain it, and this shouldn’t be possible but certain liveries actually perform better or worse than others. How....huh? Well that’s what I’m experiencing. I haven’t tried them all yet but I should warn that some liveries do indeed have serious control issues while others are just fine. This may not be the same for everybody and it’s possible the load out may also be related to this...however since most are fine I stand by my review and recommendation with a little added caution for potential buyers. It seems that you really do need to learn the aircraft more than most.

Looks fantastic but the control surfaces don't work. I have throttle and brakes with this aircraft and that's it, whereas everything works fine with my other models. Very big disappointment because I've been wanting an F-4 for a long time and visually it's a beautiful job they've done.
