I think Mike outdid himself with this pack. 119 looks exactly as she should, and runs to match - a real pocket rocket, though running up the steady grades out of Cheyenne will absolutely put your driving skills to the test. The freight cars are perfect for late 1860s UP, and with most of the photos of 119 and her sisters being on freight and MoW service, that means the player can recreate pretty nearly anything these engines did in original service. I can't find data to comment on the accuracy of the coaches' paint, but the models themselves are stellar. As for the Cheyenne 1869 route, it perfectly captures the sense of a late-1860s frontier town, with sturdy, masonry railroad structures and a much more clapboard municipal pattern, as well as open, broad streets that very much capture the feel of the 1860s Midwest. It's enough to make you feel there - so much so that the first time I took the switch onto the Camp Carlin branch, I unconsciously reached out to steady myself against the brake wheel. Short of training with the NCRR, NPS or NSRM, this is probably the closest you'll ever get to driving a locomotive of this vintage.

One of if not the best steam locomotive for Train Simulator. This is a pure work of art. The detail is amazing, the way the locomotive handles is authentic and great. The sounds are crisp. I can not recommend this enough. This not only provides a great loco and rolling stock but a route to run on as well. 1800s era railroading was one of the best and most remembered times in railroad history this lets you step into that era.

What can I say? It's the best line of DLC you can purchase for Train Simulator. Smokebox does the type of work that has simply an unmatched level of quality and dedication. They are always bringing Train Simulator into the future with advanced scripting, and engaging with the community in the most perfect way. If you want something in your collection that will give you a truely lasting impression, you should purchase any one of their products.

Love the train and most definitely love the route that comes with it.
The scenery is beautifully done, and definitely gives it that old western feel when taking 119 down the line.
Rate it 10/10
My only real complaint is the route feels too short and doesn't give much to do but go back and forth down the line if you are doing free roam, but again the scenery makes it feel worth it taking the 119 with passenger cars.
Another thing i wasn't expecting was the coupling system it has for the locomotive and freight and passenger cars.
Would say they didn't have Buckeye couplers in 1869.
Would have been spectacular if Smokebox had also added a Buckeye coupler variant for the train and it's consist that go with it for modern route runs like the Sherman Hill route.
Still a wonderful addition to Train Simulator nonetheless.

As usual from smokebox, awesome content. My only complaint is using identical sounds with all of his 1800s stuff. Personally, I'd say only pick up the pack that you like most. Whether it be this, the CP Jupiter, or the Bufallo pack, they all use identical sound files and all fun pretty much the same. When a sale comes around, i'd pick up all three packs, but if paying full price, just pick one unless you really want the others too.

There are a handful of addons for the Train Simulator platform that offer exceptional value for money, and this addon has to be at the top of the list. This is not just because it offers the user a glimse into an unrepresented era of railroading, but because it does so with such such visual and operational authenticity. The extent of operational authenticiy offered by this addon demonstrates that there is a wealth of untapped potential in the Traain Simulator platform. Smokebox should bwe congratulated for pushing the envelope well beyond what the original developers anticipated when they first offered the old RailSimulator package.
The user should note that running locomotives and trains of this vintage can be quite challenging campared ot their modern counterparts. However, the excellently scripted easy controls mode offer the user the means to become familiar with such operations while still providing an enjoyable experience with an authentic level of performance.
This is quickly becoming one of my five most favorite addons. I recommend it without qualification.

Simply put, this is a capsule of American railroad history. The locomotive handles and functions as expected and then some. The rolling stock is all beautiful, the route shows the American frontier as it was, a long and barren land with only a few inhabitants sctattered here and there. If you want to expireince what it was like when the railroads were coming of age, this packagae is for you. I cannot recommend it highly enough for the historic aspect, or for the challenge of running an early steam locomotive.

Very rarely can you find a developer who puts so much effort into his craft. Smokebox has once again exceeded all expectations. This locomotive and route are icons in American history and are by far some of the best DLC we have for this game. Fun and challenging to run. To have a piece of history so accurately recreated is simply stunning. This DLC and quite frankly, all Smokebox products are worth every penny. This is a locomotive that you want to read the manual with.

This is a great looking engine. Highly detailed, very polished, everything looks right about it.
It takes a bit of effort to get the hang of driving it in advanced mode - but it's totally worth it, it is very engaging.
The route that is comes with is perhaps a bit short by the absolute numbers but at 30mph max speed you'll spend plenty of time getting from one end to the other. The atmosphere on the route is very authentic late-19th century wild west.
Marvellous engine, unique features, very good simulation. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Once again, SmokeBox has released a perfect addon. For the price of $25 (the price for a normal Pro series loco) you get both an amazingly made UP 4-4-0, as well as time period acurate rolling stock AND A ROUTE. This is an amazingly great deal for any steam railroading fan.
The route in question is the only 1800's route we have at this point in time (SmokeBox has said he is in the works of a full 60 mile transcon route soon) and it is superb. The wild west is brought to life in this route, giving us the vast and breath taking plains of the western US. The route is 18 miles, which although is not that long, it is good for the price, and with the stock available, you aren't getting anywhere quickly anyways.
If you are a steam buff, or would just like to experience something different, this route is a perfect choice.
