Not a lot to say here. This is a really interesting look at what could have been...but also maybe one of those Ian Malcom moments; "No one stopped to think if we should,"
I can see and feel the love put into this game. I can feel how it was made and produced. I can vibe with the influences. But one of two things happened. Either the overhead here was too much to handle and the process was not shown to its end, or the end goal was much like the development of Quake and Quake II. The game was always secondary to the Engine.
Again, I really cannot overstate how beautiful this game looks for basically being all painted. It really is a work of art and I love that about gaming and development, I really do. But I beat this entire product in less time than it takes to refund it and I don't really have a desire to go back and get the achievements or the secrets. The gameplay is extremely bland. The art direction and sound design? Insane. Next level stuff here. Everyone involved should be so proud of this work.
I think, in essence, the game was aiming to ape Quake 2 and Half Life...but instead I got Doom 3. I have gotten more out of free mods for both Quake and Doom than this product. But again, I do not want to be overly negative as it overshadows the work displayed here.
I will end this review with my own negative thing that has no caveat at all. Why can I not turn down the music? I could barely hear the atmospherics in this game.

It's a really nice, 2 hour long boomer shooter. Good art style, well paced, good weapon variety (not like that matters since you should be using the shotgun or grenade launcher 90% of the time), and in general very high quality. I enjoyed it a lot.
The main complaint I have is that levels are dull and all look the same. Given that the game takes place on an alien planet, you'd be expecting levels to be unique and for the player to experience something more than slightly different variations of a sci fi hallway.
Other than that, get the game on sale because 15$ is just too high of a price, even for a game of this high quality. The game is only 2.5 hours long at most if you're really stretching it out. It's a good game, but 15 dollars really is a high price for the content that you're getting here.
