Pinball FX3 - Sci-Fi Pack DLC

I know the devs put the heart on it and stuff, I'm really sorry.. but I cannot reccomend this. The second worst zen pack still have one machine that saves the pack and make it worthy, which is not the case with this one. I found these tables boring, uninteresting and nosense. This one is a pass but please support the devs by buying some williams dlc.

All the Zen pinball games follow the same format and style. They all suck. I would not buy or recommend. The original Stern Bally and Williams pinball games created by Farsight Studios are far superior.

I'm confuse about why Paranormal is included in a Sci-Fi pack. Nowhere else to put it I guess? Anyway, it's a decent table, above average though not great. Earth Defense is solid, but disappointing for me because I feel it could have been a really great table if it had a bit more depth and a was a bit less repetitive. Mars just doesn't click for me. I don't think it's bad, just not fun, for me. I think it would be significantly improved if the it was a faster game, faster ball movement, whatever to virtual equivalent of increasing the angle of the playfield. Also a bit annoying that the moving things in the game sometimes obscure the ball at critical times. Overall, a solid pack made better by the decidedly not-sci-fi paranormal. Not a bad purchase at full price, but definitely a good one on sale.

Paranormal is fantastic, with some cues of the Gottlieb tables (I am talking like an pedantic experto but this categorisation has been a recent obsession of mine) with some reverse playfields. Mars is nice enough though it reminded me a bit too much of the Metroid pinball. Earth Defence is a flop of a table, I think.

Earth Defense hit some good nostalgia buttons for me, and Paranormal is an absolutely fun. Mars is mediocre and commits a cardinal video game sin with the satellite scan sound effect (I highly recommend turning the SFX sound off during that mission if you are sound sensitive or an audiophile). The two great tables are worth it though, and Mars is decent during the good parts.

I love all three of these boards. I dont think Mars is a bad board at all, or the weakest according to reviews. I like it! All three are great and fun to play. The music on all three is fantastic! Beautiful original Zen original boards. Paranormal is weird in a good way. Why is it in Sci-Fi pack? Because it does have sci-fi elements. Such as UFO's and x-files type theme.

Great tables Paranormal pick of the bunch.Not to fond of mars but the other 2 tables are well worth it

Nice set of tables, good enough to expand your collection. Not the most special, but all playable and with their own unique style. - Mars: Open playfield where you have to be more precise to complete the missions. - Paranormal: Different from most tables. The house mini game is fun. A game can last for more than an hour. - Earth Defense: A table with a lot happening, not super but still fun to play.

Not a bad pack at all. Mars - Probably the easiest table in the pack. It's easy to understand, easy to pick up and great for new players. The shots have great flow and you find yourself discovering modes by not specifically aiming for things. The table does a great job of guiding you through. Kickbacks are easy to light resulting in very long play sessions. Great for a chilled afternoon where you want to relax and play some Pinball! Paranormal - This is a really unique table. The modes are confusing and hard to access but after a while of playing you'll figure out what this table wants from you. My only gripe is there's not many modes. Yes there is a lot to do, but when you've seen the wizard mode you've more or less exhausted all their is to see. Love the vertical playfield though. Definitely worth a look. Lots of people seem to like it, so there's clearly something right. Earth Defense - This is my personal favourite in the pack. I wasn't quite sure what was going on when I first played it and couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. There's no "mission" hole as such, although the drop targets under the robot kind of act as one. Start racking up combos and exploring the table and you'll start seeing modes unlock and appear. There's some really intense multiball in here and some really really nice flow to the layout. I love this pin, it's one of my favourite Zen original tables. Get this pack on offer for sure. It drops below 50% quite frequently. They're all very high quality pins if you like pinball, and Zen definitely deserve supporting. Sure these are old tables, but they play really nicely!

One word. Mars. Mars is incredible; nice open play-field, chill music, interesting modes. It's got everything a good pinball table needs. I love the nice long ramps, and the missions that require hitting very particular spots on the playfield work great with the open middle area. Buy it for Mars. Play Mars. Love Mars. The other tables are a little more quirky than anything else. Paranormal is one of the strangest layouts I've seen, with some very peculiar objectives. Earth Defense is a War of the Worlds style retro sci-fi goof-fest which is perhaps more thematically enjoyable than anything else. Really solid pack, it's my go-to from Zen's classic library.
