This is a pretty cool train! I don't know a ton about trains and was hesitant to buy this one even on sale, but i'm happy I did. I love the shaking and tilting it does! Well worth the 6 bucks. Make sure you read the manual on the procedure to get the train going again if you..uhh...accidentally hit the emergency brakes... lol Reading up on a cold start may also be helpful. I unintentionally hit the brake button too many times on it went into the emergency brake and stopped the train. Well I was sitting there having no idea how to get it rolling again. Thank God for the manual so now i know! :)

Now this this is something i expect from a company like dtg the modelling is fantastic lots of features included in the cab and you have to unlock the master key in order to move the Power handle and reverser like in real you can start this up in an cold and dark state sort off you already have brake pressure but you must set the motor alternators release the brakes from emergency it all there. This shows what DTG can do and should do more often no wait should do for every single EMU DMU and Loco they made from this point on-wards. one thing that shocked me was that the sounds although not perfect I.E. taken from the real thing well from I've heard in the cab and from what i have heard as i am aware please correct me if I'm wrong aren't taken from the Real APT
Negatives they have only included one livery variant of the APT with the black front which do prefer however it would have been nicer to for DTG to have included all of them and considering it only had 2 or 3 livery variants isn't really much of ask for an company like DTG. the Horn isn't brilliant one of the sounds i generally don't like.
although I am satisfied with this add on and one of very though Unit packs from DTG that i do quite like which isn't a lot as most are just either terrible or bad
please DTG all i ask is that you make more packs like this as im sure the community would appreciate it and also gain you some trust that can make trains some what decent to drive in TS with good physics modelling features in the cab and good sounds that sound decent not taken from an 2013 free audio library

Get it, stop reading this and just get it. By far one of the best TS mods you can buy. Got a real hands on experience with this DLC and that's why I enjoyed it so much. By far one of the most detailed and accurate DTG mods on the market. If your up for the challenge, be sure to buy it. A+++

This is without a doubt one of Dovetail's best TS DLCs. It is visually stunning, highly detailed to drive and comes included with its own safety system. A very good DLC. Buy it immediately.

Holy Shit........This is the scariest, most awesomist train I've ever driven in this game!!!! Driving a pendolino and tilting through corners at 125mph is one thing, driving a train 155mph is another thing, BUT TILTING THROUGH CORNERS AT 155MPH IS A WHOLE OTHER GALAXY OF THINGS. I was not expecting the top speed for the scenarios being 155mph, and never in my life did I ever expect to see a tilting train travel at that speed through curves. The best thing I can compare it to are extreme roller coasters like King Da Ka. The experience is both amazing and terrifying at the same time, sometimes veering towards the later due to how much yawing the train did through corners (though it may be due to the track not being rendered as a smooth curve which produces this effect). Although, through driving this train you do get a bit of an understanding how people could've gotten motion sickness while riding it. The Advanced Passenger Train was certainly ahead of its time and did its job too well. While I didn't suffer from any sort of motion sickness and dont have issues with epilepsy and stuff like that, it was really surreal traveling through curves at speeds you wouldn't think would be possible through curves as sharp as....well most of ones on the West Coast Main Line. And I did get a little bit of a headache while driving during one of the sessions though it may have been unrelated, but driving this train does feel very cursed in all the right and wrong ways. Overall, this was a good purchase and I recommend it to anyone who's interested in railroad history and someone who wants the closets experience to a roller coaster in-game.

I got this as a treat at the end of Christmas and i got it with the WCML Shap and i got this and it's amazing great tilting action great cab and great altogether. I give it 9/10 just because it can't run certain routes but apart from that it's great.

Wow! This train is amazing. The only problem with it is that it will literally spoil all your other trains from this sim and TSW and make them look utterly boring.
The reason for this is that most high speed trains have special fast and straight track made specifically for them.
However, the APT was designed to run at high speed on standard Victorian highly curved British track. Hurtling at 155 mph around bends it has no right to negotiate is a rush and with it leaning hard over is akin to an Olympic BobSled ride.
There is nothing like this train. The only caveat is that you must also buy WCML Over Shap to fully take advantage of it.
What a train!

The Advanced Passenger Train, or APT for short, remains one of Britain's most iconic rail-related flops, a 'magnificent disaster', if you will. An overly ambitious project plagued by technical flaws and a miniscule budget (with the entire 15-year budget for the project being smaller than the budget for the Austin Mini Metro), the APT did develop several ground breaking features still seen on Britain's railways today.
In Train Simulator, the unit is very accurately simulated, featuring variable power modes, sliding doors, a realistically simulated delayed tilt system, and a number of different operational formations.
The only real downside is the lack of versatility; in order to accomodate APT-P's much higher speeds and dynamic tilt system, DTG created new route scripting to simulate the C-APT signalling system. Whilst a template scenario does exist for WCML over Shap which makes creating your own APT scenarios a doddle, the manual contains no information on how to adapt the system to operate on other routes. The base pack also only comes with three scenarios, which is not very much for the price.

I've had great fun driving the APT. This is by far my favourite electric train. The controls are very realistic and that adds a lot of depth to driving it.
For anyone struggling to get the train moving, you should read the manual. You'll need to make sure you release the parking brake, place the master key in (shift+M), then bring the reverser to auxiliary, press Q to cancel the AWS, then bring the brake to initial, then press E to cancel the other alarm, then bring the reverser to forward, brake to release and increase the throttle - the train should start to move. If you are not sure, consult the manual found in the game files under Steam Apps/common/railworks .
Hope this helps! Recommended.

Thanks DTG for finally publishing this APT-P it has made my birthday! I've been waiting for a few years and "WOW" it is amazing for numerous reasons! Even though this was a short cut on development by BR in the late 70's derived from the original developed APT-E (Gas Turbine Engines) and HST 252 001 both original prototypes at the same time in 1968-1972 by British Aerospace at Derby! these where obviously developed prior to pre-decimalisation in old money terms no short cut's where made.
The fact the electrified lines is what the APT-P was developed for and the fact you can tilt round sharp bends at 155 mph approx 249 km is amazing, but the original APT-E was developed for the none electrified lines like from Paddington to Penzance.
DTG it would be great if you could consider going further back in BR history in also developing the APT-E (E = Experimental) for the none electrified lines (as this is a lot of routes) would be amazing also!
Just trying to emphasise the APT-E You can/could run on all TS Routes if it was done as an loco add-on not just "ELECTRIFIED LINES"
Besides all of this I would recommend this consist as an essentials for everyone to add to this must have for there TS collection! From me a BIG 12/10! Thanks again DTG
