For an open-world RPG that they showcase in trailers, the game is pretty weak—more of a running simulator with clunky combat and poor movement.

Got it for ten bucks with the DLC and enjoyed it much more than AAA games for sixty hard clams (looking at you, Veilguard). Dragon Age Inquisition meets Risen 2/3. It's good - give it a chance.

this one is tough for me to review but it just felt 'off' to me the whole time I was playing it. combat felt a little floaty like my character wasn't firm on the ground and my attacks wouldn't feel meaningful and weighty except for gun shots which were very powerful and satisfying. Blocking and dodging felt awkward though. Characters were not incredibly interesting. Your options for abilities seem very limited to 2 or 3 abilities for each of the three main play-styles. I might have preferred to not play as a character who already has a place in society, it felt like my story was already written for me before I even started so any role play I might do would feel like "De Sardet just started acting really weird the day before they headed to the new world" which took me out of it.. For such a small team though it's quite impressive what they did accomplish especially graphically but maybe I'm too picky or don't have patience anymore and I couldn't get into it.

Rating: 5.4 Gameplay: Standard at best. Story: Rich but not for me Difficulty: Easy Graphics: Good Price: Only worth it if it's on sale but if you're reading this save your money. Bugs: none Audience: Mature Grind: Fetch Quest sim. Misc: If you're still reading maybe you will like it or you're just polite but the game lacks serious draw back. You will abandon your save.

solid 8.5 from me. Very good game. Narrative RPG. Kinda cool that "decisions" were done based on the missions you decided to do, so if you are a completionist then you're locked into one specific narrative with limited choices. But that aside, nice take on the genre, good narrative experience, actual 10/10 environment design and world building. Absolutely loved the environment (with sepia filter disabled). Very nice setting (either love or hate it). Enjoyed 99% of my time playing the game (except for the couple times of annoying walking back and forth) super fun game. glad I went back and did it again. First time I stopped about 60% of the way through, didn't realize how far I was! But man, what a great game. Fantastic experience, do recommend!

It is definitely reminiscent of an old school Bioware game. It's heavy on the dialogue and story while leaving plenty of time for exploring, grinding, crafting, and side questing if that's your thing. You also have extremely competent companions -- I see some people complaining about their AI but I had almost zero issues with them. Much like Outer Worlds, you can dump your focus into Charisma and it makes them stronger. You can also gear them up properly and pretty much walk away from your computer while they mop up the baddies. The shortcomings are few and far between imo, but I understand some of the complaints. In one mission, I was told to sneak through a warehouse and to not hurt anyone. So I did. When I came back successfully, I was told I did hurt people and it affected my reputation with the character. Not a big deal but there are more than a few moments like that where jank shows up and ruins a fluid experience. I have an OLED monitor with HDR auto-on via Windows so in fairness all I see is beautiful lighting, rich contrast, and detailed textures at ultra settings. I would imagine if I didn't have this, and played on say, medium, I could absolutely see it feeling dated (technically even on release). I personally found combat to be pretty fun. It's very assassin's creed black flag. You get surrounded, you learn to perfect parry, and combat becomes satisfying but simple and easy. But in grindy games, that's fine with me, so to each their own. The setting is 100% personal preference, and while I couldn't give less of a shit about early 18th century europe with a fun supernatural twist, the setting never offended me or annoyed me -- if you like New World's vibe you'll like this one too. Although, one major complaint I have on that topic; you can't hide your helmet. And I know you're thinking "dude, does it really matter" and to that I ask you have you seen how stupid some of/most of the helmets looked in that time period?

Its fine I guess. Combat is simple but okay. The story is meh, The companions are meh. I just don't care about them. I got about 20 hours in and just...stopped out of apathy. I also have a companion locked in my party because the companion quest bugged out. You are not able to abandon quests, and when having one active the companion is LOCKED into your party. Worst design.decision ever. If you really really need a new RPG to play and its on sale - it's not the worst game you can play. But its utterly forgettable.

Outdated graphics but a richly built world. Feels like an old bioware game
