This game is...relatively short. It took me about 11 hours to beat the main story, and I really do wish they built more up. Unlike RAGE 1, this game actually has a cohesive story, but what the game makes up for in story it lacks in any real content. I only would recommend this game because if a few factors, those being; -The gunplay actually being good. -The movement feeling much more smooth. -The enviroments actually looking more unique. Really this game could've used some more development time, but overall it isn't objectively bad. It has some fun abilities that you can pull off, but with every upside it has an equal downside. I really do wish I could select neutral for it. Also, do not attempt to play this game on Ultra Nightmare. It's genuinely not balanced and even with the maximum upgrades you will still be one shot by most enemies. I understand the whole "Get Good" mindset, but with the lack of any real way to negate damage or any way to cheese at long ranges like in RAGE 1, it's just unneeded pain.

It's pretty glitchy and unpolished but not in a way that really hurts gameplay. For instance, in the main menu, you get a prompt to hit enter. Enter does not work, you need to click. Then a second prompt opens where you do have to hit enter. This stuff lowers the precieved quality but isn't the end of the world.

Rage 2 feels like a weird mix between Far Cry series and Doom series. Combat is incredibly fun and exploration is rather nice, map has a lot of locations and point of interest but the driving in the game feels stiff or weird, at least on keyboard and mouse. Highly recommended solely for the gameplay, the story is mediocre at first, but picks up while progressing through it.

Overall, it is an OK game and much better than it's predecessor but it keeps too many of the bland aspects of the previous Rage game. The open world is much more vibrant and fun to explore, each zone feels different with unique style and landscape. Enemy camps and mutent warrens are well crafted and offer different ways of approach. Driving is also a big step forward, controls are much more smooth and vehicular combat is fun, challanging and feels much more meaningful. Gun play and combat also takes a step forward, guns are much more fun with great level of customizability, great handling and large variety. The new powers you get to mess around with during combat are a nice addition to the general chaos of the game. Enemies are still bland and fighting them starts getting really boring as you progress in the campaign. Although there is more variety, the enemy AI is very basic and offers little challange. Boss fights are still a big disappointing meh... Missions and open world activities are a hit and miss, some are fun and offer some challange but many feel like a chore to pull off for a minor reward at best. The campaign is barely able to keep itself relevant and story missions are usually very boring and tedious. The DLC's are much more fun and challanging but they feel very pricey for the amount of content they offer. Technically the game runs smooth with some minor hiccups with graphics but that can be resolved by messing around with Vsync and monitor refresh rate. I did get a single random crashes but overall the game was very stable throughtout the entire campaign. Visually Rage2 looks great, the world looks amazing and character animations feel fluid and natural. Explosions and special effects from powers and guns look fun and add to the chaotic atmosphere of the combat. Soundtrack is ok and gets the job done but character dialogue sounds very amateurish, as if recorded by very tired actors which causes the story briefings to lose all interest for the player. Bottom line, the game is a solid 6.5/10, it has it's issues but there is some fun times to be found here. Get it on sale if you are looking for an open world Farcry style slop for the weekend.

PROS: Good bang for the buck if you get it on sale. Lots to explore. Lots of game play. Great for team play. Like Borderlands, they advertise a billion guns but you only need ONE good one. CONS: WASD @##$@ steering on vehicles!? Really?! If 2K can do it, why can't Id do it?! WHAT THE...?! This just kills the game! The one thing you need, and you don't get. How difficult is it for an army of coders to code mouse steering for vehicles in a game like this? What magic coders does 2K have to be able to do it in Borderlands? It's very irritating, annoying and infuriating. Sure...I can kind of get around steering with WASD...but, um...mouse steering is miles ahead. For a shoot and loot, exploration, vehicle driven game, yeah, mouse steering, it's a thing. I would NEVER pay full price for this because of that. I can not fathom why they can't program mouse steering. Just stunned. Can't understand why. Travelling by vehicle is a major part of the game and I still don't have mouse steering? How much do you have to pay them to be able to do this? I recommend if it's on sale.

TLDR: This game is criminally underrated. It's fun. If you're looking for a fun VIDEO GAME where you drive/run around and shoot stuff with exploration then look no further. If you're looking for a deep story go play Last of Us or Detroit or something. If you're looking for a copy of Rage 1, go play Rage 1. Stop blaming this game because you wanna play not this game. Go play the game you wanna play then. Developers do different things, they get hate. Developers do the same things, they get hate. Say goodbye to the Rage franchise. They couldn't achieve your wild expectations and now publishers will never risk another dime on this so far unique and awesome franchise. This goes for so many franchises. Stop comparing crap to other crap and learn to enjoy things for what it is. "It's like Borderlands made by Ubisoft" yea and Spyro is Crash Bandicoot made by Insomniac. You whiny perfection hunting gamers are the problem. Not the publishers. Y'all have the publishers hunting perfection and firing anyone who can't deliver it because YOU guys only accept and pay and rate good for perfection. This game (and so many others) does not deserve a mixed rating. Now this franchise is dead because y'all compared it to death instead of taking it for what it was, and then will turn around and complain how all games are the same.

Wrote this after 4 beers. The story is pretty useless, but after playing for a while, I still got hooked—especially when I switched from Easy to Ultra Nightmare and started dying from one hit by any peasant. The skill mechanics are really fun, but there are way too many useless weapons that do zero damage to bosses on Ultra Nightmare... and they're basically irrelevant at that difficulty. Also, way too many side quests—they get super repetitive over time. But in the end, it was a nice journey. I'd rate it a 7/10.

A great shooter if you can get it for like $30. Tight gameplay. Stupid writing.

Probably my single most favorite game of all time. I've clocked hundreds of hours on the PS4. Does it have its flaws? Yes. There's very little story to speak of, there's some gamebreaking bugs that haven't been patched. But god DAMN the combat is amazing. It is without a doubt the most fun gunplay I've played in my life, more so than Doom, Fallout, Wolfenstein etc. This game really captures the essence of being a whirlwind of death and gore. The worldbuilding is gorgeous, with bright colors and lots of different factions to fight and biomes/environments to fight in. The first game def felt like "50 shades of brown" but that's criticism the devs took to heart and fixed up. Just sooo much fun. If you like doom or wolfenstein or any of those sort of shooters, get this game. You won't regret it. Especially when it's on sale for $8

Kinda fun, a shame it crashes at least once an hour. 6 years after release -> unplayable I would resort to self-flagellation if I was a developer of the game. At least 1 whip/unplayable month. Big slimy shite and somehow still better than MindsEye
