Pros: Model is beautiful! Cons: In any external views (and some internal ones) there is a high pitched squeeling that has managed to give me a migrane in less than 10 min of play. Maybe its because I have sensitive ears but fracking crisps! Its loud, painful and grinding on the mind.

Really has that USA General Motors feeling of the 50's, early 60's... have no idea why, but it took me back to driving my 61 Corvair automatic.. loved the little toggle switch in that car... I think it was faster than this train.. but anyways... grab it on sale.. it is just charming.. And by sale I mean 65% off...

A beautiful train, but DTM did not get the physics right. 1. It seems there's an issue with brake pipe pressure between the cars (110 psi) and the engine, slowing it down 2. It should go 80 mph but you won't reach more than 60 mph even on a flat track. 3. Cab Camera position is way too low.

ON SALE, this is a neat pack. However DTM Didn't even TRY with the sounds. The sounds are not just off a bit, they're completely wrong. The models themselves are really well done overall, though I find the white to be a bit too bright. Toned down a bit, the actual model itself would be a solid 10 for me, but the sounds absolutely murdered this for me. The lack of passengers is kinda funky, but not a killer. The reused sound files, sound files to go to a very different locomotive, is ridiculous.

I really enjoy this dlc. the aesthetics of this train is reason alone to buy it. my only criticism is not being able to reach the train rated top speed of 102 mph. the engine is barely able to hit 50 mph on most of my routes. but other than that its ok.

Now THAT is an interesting train! I enjoy it very much. If you are a train-buff and love the 50s design, this train is for you. Only three things are to not that are open for improvement. -Speed... This train is pretty slow. with the mission and with the restrictions, you are about to go between 30-50mph. For this route that is totally fine, But just keep in mind, the sim-train won't go any faster even on flat routes. - Passengerview. Yes the interior looks good, but in the default-view, you are looking backwards on a forwards-looking seat. A bit strange, but ok. But since the last car has a panorama ending, I think the passengerview shuld be located there... Other than that, this is really a cool train. If you can get it on a sale, go for it. It will be a cool and funky special thing to have in your traincollection

The main fault of this DLC is the Vmax of the train. It is said to reach around 83 mph but it only reaches around 51,5 mph. However, I think they confused MPH (Miles per hour) with KPH (Kilometers per hour). 51,5 mph are around 83 kmh, while 83 mph are around 133kph. It needs some tweaks. But else, the looks of it are good.

A really great add-on for TS2017. The trainset though does a bit sluggish (Maybe a patch is in order in the future). Had the honor of riding on the PRR Aerotrain back in its day. A great train to run on the Horseshoe Curve route, even on the NEC with the Demostrator between Newark, NJ & Philly. Maybe even a future route between Harrisburg & Altoona (Hint, Hint for DTG !) because it would look right at home running across the Rockville Bridge. Thanks again for a unique trainset for USA routes ! Maybe next a UAC TurboTrain could be on the future menu?

Baffled by this one. The history behind the Aerotrain is that it was GM's attempt to create a cheap high speed train in the 1950s. They made it cheap by using parts built for buses, and it used single axles and articulation because the US railroad industry thought that was the only way to make trains that went fast without derailing at the time. It was underpowered, but it did manage, on straight flat tracks, to get to 100mph. It was uncomfortable and was considered a failure. So is this a good simulation? No. The simulated train can't actually reach 100mph. It barely manages to exceed 50mph when going downhill. The outside looks fine, but the interior shots give no clue to the cramped conditions passengers had to ride in. It would just take some small tweaks to make this a great bit of DLC.

I was quite surprised when it was announced the Aerotrain was coming to Train Sim. It just seems like a really obscure train that I never expected to see on this game. I am a fan of the Aerotrain in real life, and I love how they just used a standard SW1200 locomotive except it was encased in a futuristic bodyshell. To me, the Aerotrain screams 1950s America, but is it a good train on Train Sim? Let's see. I'll start off by talking about the good stuff. As usual, the modelling is really nice, and looks exactly like the real thing, although the textures are a too bright in my opinion. As I've already said, the best thing about this pack is that we finally have the Aerotrain in the game, thus offering a bit more variety when it comes to U.S. passenger trains. Unfortunately there really isn't a lot of good stuff about this add-on, otherwise the previous paragraph would be much longer. The sounds are very, very disappointing. The real LWT12 locomotive used a 12 cylinder EMD 567C engine, with a power output of 1,200 horsepower. To quote from Wikipedia - 'The LWT12 was essentially an EMD SW1200 switcher locomotive, suitably geared for high-speed passenger rail service and wrapped in a distinctive aerodynamic shell.' In Train Simulator however, the sounds on the LWT12 would make you think she had a 16 cylinder EMD 567D3 engine, which is what the EMD GP30 has. In other words, the LWT12 has completely inaccurate sounds. The PRR GP7 included with the Horseshoe Curve route sounds more like the real Aerotrain that the actual Aerotrain DLC. This really annoys me, and I really do wish these developers would just stop re-using sounds over and over again. I'm looking at you, Dovetail Games (Class 442 '5-WES', DB BR648, EMD SD9, Class 150/1 and GE U30B spring to mind). But here's the thing, the Aerotrain is a DTM (Digital Train Model) product, so the re-used sounds were an even bigger shock to me. Except this is coming from someone who has very little experience with DTM products, so if anybody knows more about these devs, please tell me. Moving onto the physics. The only thing I was annoyed about physics-wise was the fact that on my test runs, the train barely acheived 50 miles per hour. I don't know how the real Aerotrain performs, but in Train Sim it appears to be very weak indeed. As was the case with the Class 150/1, the Aerotrain seems to accelerate way too quickly, but it's not as bad as the 150/1. In conclusion, I can't really recommend the Aerotrain DLC, unless you are mildly curious and have an interest in the real thing, like myself. It just feels like the devs put so little effort into this add-on, apart from the modelling. In other words, DTM seems to have pulled a DTG on this train, by having the model look really nice and accurate, only to screw up with the sounds and physics. Digital Train Model, I suggest you re-think your practices, and spend a lot more time making your add-ons. My review of the Aerotrain has concluded.
