Whilst full of nice features, it's just too fiddly to bother with. I haven't even got it moving fully yet, so for me it's a massive fail and likely to remain in my library unused. Most other advanced items at least have a 'simple' mode. If you just want to play the odd quick drive then don't bother with this add-on.

Wow. You won't be dissapointed with this train. Absolutely unreal visual quality and sound quality. I would recomend purchasing this from the armstrong powerhouse website (https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=45_84&product_id=163) so that you can get all of the extra liveries and scenarios.

Best DLC. Looks awesome, sounds awesome, rides awesome. Has a ton of little details like bugs splashing against the windscreen or the windows fogging up when the heater is on. Must buy.

One of the best locomotives I have ever purchased. Disregard the people who are claiming they can't drive the Thumper. They obviously did not read the manual before purchasing the locomotive. This is one of the DLCs that is actually worth full price but I purchased it in March Madness for half its original price. Worth every penny :D

Fantastic! One of the nicest trains I've driven in TSC. Armstrong Powerhouse really knocked it out of the ballpark with this one!

I like a challenging and complex start up procedure, and this doesn't disappoint. I printed the relevant sections from the manual and just followed what was said, after about two minutes, I was away.
The cab interior is nicely decrepit and suitable for a train going out of service; the peeling on the inside cab roof is a nice touch.
The external textures are well done and feature external roof piping that is nicely modelled.
A couple of things are a bit off and a tad distracting. The first being, that light levels in the cab never change, day, night or tunnel are all the same; however the light works for some reason.
The train itself is very much like the original, that being slow, noisy and rides like a hay cart. Perfect.
AP have got the cab sway motion just right,
When I bought this in the sale, it didn't really click that it was an AP train, I got it for about eleven bucks and it came with three scenarios; on the AP site it is twenty five quid with a bunch of different liveries that are not included with the Steam version. The AP version has six scenarios, but you'll need a couple of hundred quid of their add ons to play them, this seem like a much more reasonable proposition.
A great addition worth the price I paid; it has its faults but they are greatly outweighed by its positives.
8/10 as the cab lighting was a bit of a let down.

The Class 205 Thumper takes quite a bit of learning but once you get going it's a fun unit to drive. There are lots of features for the player to use, This might be one of my favourites. I hope more scenarios come online for this.

Okay, I'm saying this ahead of time. ANYONE leaving bad reviews because they can't figure out how to get it moving or running, you HAVE to look at the manual before you use it. Most of the time (well all of the time actually), when you use this in a scenario, it works the way it's expected to work. That means it works with no problems. You don't really have to have a specific route for this to work. This is a DEMU. That means it's a diesel electric multiple unit. You don't have to have a third rail to run it on. But I just run a thumper on a third rail anyway just as a precaution. So, while I don't really pay attention to the authentic features of most non-American locomotives, I can still try to explain how awesome of a locomotive this dlc loco really is. I mean, if I'm in a locomotive, I expect to have to press buttons and make several mistakes more than once before I am able to get it running. I have a potato, but I can still take advantage of the characteristics of the loco without really sacrificing valuable framerates. This locomotive works just fine if you know how to use it. Just remember that this is a PRO RANGE locomotive, not a standard dlc locomotive that you usually buy. This is great and the price is worth it even when it's not on sale. Just get this locomotive and see how great it truly is. I'm not even from the UK, I'm from the United States and I enjoy this locomotive. It makes [comparable] blowing raspberry noises that I absolutely enjoy to hear and it looks so cute in free cam. It's really a priority loco you need to get. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS, GET IT NOW!
