I do not even know what possessed me to get this expansion pack. I thought for some reason, despite the terrible reviews of this pack that I would love it. DO NOT BUY IT! The new town is small and boring, the careers are just..meh, and everything else is just fluff. Not worth a cent.

This is one of the expansions I really use the least, although I do really enjoy it when I remember to use it.

This DLC is funny in many ways, The world shipped with it looks like a wasteland, the new sims are weird, and the careers are.... unrealistic. Sure, the newly added traits are good, but the gameplay is neither realistic nor enjoyable. Actually I guess I wouldn't have a problem calling it "ridiculous".
Whoever could explain to me, Why is that no matter how well a Sim performed in a gig, the lifetime relationship between the performer and the audience decrease that quickly? Imagine that you invited your friend to your upcoming gig and after the gig you two despise each other, despite your friendship before the show...... A big OOF.
And yeah, the audience can be super happy for 12 hrs just by watching a great show, but only gets a +5 moodlet for 10 minutes after a truly ******* legendary show. Like, what? I have every reason to believe that they made the game upside down.
And the glitches, you can get a steady gig but it would stop showing up and you cannot perform, then it would get stuck in your schedule for nothing.

Barely adds to your gaming experiecne. The new careers are pretty good, but having only three just gets boring after a while. Once you explore them all, which only takes one or two real days, there is not much left to do. One thing I do give props to, is the new male clothing optitons. It is a great way to give your young adult sims more personality and realism. Some of the new furniture items are also pretty good. I find myself using them a lot in gameplay. It also runs pretty smoothly, when I first got the game I expirinced almost no lag. (I have tons of DLC so it is a bit more laggy now.) However, it is not worth 20 dollars. I think they should of made this a stuff pack, and drop the proformance idea complety. It can be okay mixed in with other expansion packs, and if you really like the idea of having your sim embark into a career of entertainment, this just may be the expansion pack for you.

This expansion pack of The Sims 3 has a feature that was used in Late Night: Gigs. These gigs are live shows, and require one of three of the proffesions to be part of a live show: Singer, Acrobat or Magician. Not only it has to do with live shows, it has Genie Lamps, which are used to summon genies to get up to 3 wishes.

I think that Sims 3 Showtime is a great expansion pack that offers more careers, a new town, and a good amount of new clothing.

Though I cannot recommend any DLC for this game at thier current price (which has not dropped in the last 3 years, might I add.), I can at least say there are worse ways to spend your money. Like The Sims 3: Island Paradise, for example.
It does add a bit of role-playing content to the game, and the new town is pretty decent. However I cannot stress enough that you are better off waiting for EA to not Challenge Everything when it comes to outlandish DLC prices for a now aging game. Let me list 15 ways you could better spend your $20:
1. New backpack for college.
2. Paying part of your cellphone bill.
3. A healthy meal of vegetable stirfry for your whole family.
4. A new hat.
5. 8 packs of Skittles.
6. 17 Iced Coffees from McDonalds this summer.
7. Avatar: The Last Airbender Book 1: Water and Book 2: Earth Complete DvD set.
8. Whiskis Temptations.
9. Whiskis Temptations for the guy that ives in the apartment 3 doors down. (He doesn't have a cat, but he's always borrowing a few spares.)
10. A bottle of wine to share with your old lady.
11. Tomb Raider Reboot.
12. Fund a Nicolas Cage freak-out montage.
13. A different new hat.
14. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
15. That 1-year anniversary present you forgot to get. (I think Rexall is open; better go quick.)

Once your singer/entertainer starts to get steady gigs (when you are at level 9 or 10 in your profession) ... you are totally screwed because steady gigs do not work, you cannot delete them, and EA never fixed them.
I put a lot of work into developing my singer, and now the game is so bugged out that its hopeless.
I have NO mods installed. Just SIMS 3, Showtime, and University.

Love Showtime. It adds new elements to the game that weren't there before. Also to the review that said the games never go on sale, THEY DO. I picked up everything for no more than $10 per on a holiday sale.

If you want to expand on the celeb system in the game this is a must have but if you play more of a domestic playstyle you can skip on this one.
