Train Simulator: Western Pacific GP35 Add-On DLC

When the GP35 debuted, it represented the latest in Electro-Motive’s extraordinarily successful line of four-axle (B-B) “GP” (“general purpose”) diesel...

Very low quality DLC with little content. One locomotive with two skins and 4 scenarios. Low texture exterior and basic interior controls. Not worth the money.

Need the horn to be fixed. That is my only complaint. Interior sound of horn is like a BR steam engine whistle. Exterior sound is delayed/unreal.

I wouldn't purchase again! Two scenarios are good and two are terrible! Descending to Kramm (wheel slip is a serious issue with this one. Can't go above notch 5 and require constant sand application. and Quincy Switcherman (this one plays well until you reach Quincy junction). Unless patched avoid this DLC

It's not bad if you're looking to add to your Feather River route, but it is not great either. The only reason i give it a thumbs up is because it's not a bad price when on sale, such as Christmas time sales. The texture's look old even by RSC standards. The sounds are decent, though not mind blowing either. Basic cab functions, a single step above the standard SD40-2 included with the game. Most certainly not as good as the GP20 also available. Not bad, not good. Just kinda, meh.

The locomotive itself is nicely modelled and runs well. I can't speak with any authority about the sound, as I've never heard one of these things in real life, but the sounds are pretty close to what I imagine a mid-range American switching diesel sounds like. Unfortunately, the scenarios are less good. Two of them run fine (Finishing the Trip and Local to Crescent Mills), but the other two have problems. Quincy Switcherman is impossible to complete on time due to an AI train blocking the pointwork, and Descent to Kramm's instructions are so poorly worded I couldn't figure out which vehicles to uncouple. It's a pity, as a bit of playtesting would have uncovered this problem. In summary; good loco, less good scenarios. Buy whilst on sale.

So this is our 2nd GP35 from DTM and TBH it holds up to there other work. Pros: great sound WP box cars Brake cylinder animations <--- for reals the little things matter custom break script <--- a breath of freash air compared to the stock controls animated doors, windows and mirrors Cons: none I thnk outside of steam DTM offers the GP35 in many other livery but I hope to see more like the ATSF and Conrail make there way to steam.
