Honestly, this is one of the ONLY american steam locos worth owning in TS. It kicks the ass of most other steam DLCs in pretty much all regards.
The detail is very nice and everything is well animated. The firebox casts flickering orange light into the cab as you add coal. Very nice.
The sounds are incredible, and you can press Shift+Space to turn the HUD brake lever into an incremental whistle lever, enabling some very pretty and very realistic whistle patterns.
Comes in a bajillion versions, from the Alaska Railroad in North America to the Soviet national railway, and literally everything in between (that used S160s). With the large variety of loco versions comes a large variety of rolling stock featuring many bits of military equipment on flatcars (Soviet, British, French, and American equipment), tank cars for oil and aircraft fuel, and brake vans (including one with US couplers, making for a neat sight on American rails!)
I can't stress enough how fantastic this DLC is. It drives very well, and isn't prohibitively finicky like some steam DLCs. Simple yet realistic, and a very powerful locomotive for its size. The S160 is a surefire hit for anybody regardless of regional preference, simply due to the diversity of the loco and the pleasure it is to drive. I'd even go as far as to say it's worth the full price, if only to support the dev (Victory Works)
Oh, and there's more than one whistle. It varies from loco to loco. There's a lot of features, its hard to remember them all! stop reading this, get it!!

I must say that I LOVE this DLC! It has a lot of additional trucks for you to make your own trains with. The Sounds are spot on and there are quite a few liveries to choose from! All in all I give this a solid 10/10, a must have for true railfans.

Overall, it wasn't my cup of tea. Why the thumbs up, then?
Pros -
Detailed models and rolling stock for multiple countries
Realistic sounds and movement for the rolling stock - Slack on the couplings actually rolls in when stopping, and rolls out when starting.
Different cab/model orientations - Just with a few changes in the numbering in the scenario editor could change the model slightly.
Realistic cab controls and advanced mode
Cons -
This isn't Victory Works' fault, but, as usual, it'll drag down your FPS, just like everything in TS2017. You need to have it set on the lowest graphical settings for your average Windows PC for it not to lag.
It may just be me, but it just really didn't grab my attention like I thought it would. I don't think I wasted my money, however. For the quality of the addon, the price is actually quite fair.
Overall -
9/10 stars in general. Although I didn't exactly love it in game, everything was detailed quite nicely with a nice variety of models.

You get a lot of locomotives for a lot of different regions from the US to Poland and they all are a little different to match the railroiad they were built for and all of the sounds are fantastic. And you get a nice selection of freight cars to go with them and with different couplers to be used with any of the engines included. The only downside is the russian locomotives are in historically accurate broad gauge, which as of yet isn't part of a route, so if you use the russian engines they don't fit on the trak and kind of floats along.

Pros: ALOT of options/content for loco's and tenders.
Decent amount of cargo.
Good detail on just about every physical item in this pack
Cons:
Some sounds are recycled.
The puff's dont transfer good AT ALL, (0-10 one sound, 10-20 another sound, 20-30 another diffrent sound and so on)
Not as great as the pictures make em look Not worth getting at full price wait till its on sale.
Do not get me wrong its still a VERY nice dlc just not what was expected for being PRO Range

One of the best American steam locomotives available for Railworks if the Smokebox complex models scare you a bit. These are relatively easy to run, fit in on quite literally any route in any country, and sound great. My only real complaint is the lack of cab lighting in all but the American models.

This is a very well pollished DLC for train sim, and VERY well anticipated, as well. This DLC around a dozen different models of the s160, as well as different cabs, and for some, different opperating pressure. The sounds are great, the simulation is fun, and the firing is some of the best to date. If you liked the peppercorn K1 made by victory works, and liked its hand on firing tools, your sure to love the s160s. This contains locomotives for Britian, the US, france, poland, russia, as well as dozens of cars and quick drive consists. This DLC is certainly a must have for rail fans.

This DLC is a must have for all steam fans, because of its versitility. You can seriously run it on any route because the locomotive was used throughout the world!
Pros: Great Sound

Cons: While under power up a hill, around 15 mph the loco starts to rock to the right and left very quickly, Im not sure that this is a design thing but it kinda scared me while driving.
The Horseshoe Curve Scenarios, So Im switching in Cresson, In the 1950s, in Pennsylvania, and I see a UNION PACIFIC F7 pulling a passenger train. Now the locomotive is periond correct but the location, UNION PACIFIC NEVER RAN IN PENNSYLVANIA! And in a later scenario, the one with the Alaska Railroad 557, Im hauling through the snow, and I see a UNION PACIFIC ES44AC PULLING AUTORACKS! Not only is the Location incorrect, the time period is 50 years off!
Its not just this, in Gala Preparatin, the 1st west somerset railway scenario, SHA 122 has timetable issues with your locomotive and they constantly fight over switches, making the scenario IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE!!!!!
They really needed to do better work with the scenarios, Im not impressed like I should be by Victory Works this time, Until they can fix these errors, I cant really reccomend this loco, but since there are workshop scenarios, it should give tons of good runs. BOTTOM LINE: THE SCENARIOS INCLUDED SUCK, THE LOCOS ARE GREAT!
I am really torn because the locos themselves are really good, but the scenarios are horrendous and buggy. LOCOS: 9.5/10 OVERALL:6/10

Easily one of the best pieces of DLC available for TS2016.
If you're going to buy just one steam engine, buy this one - it's features are outstanding, it's realism is great, and it can be quickly toggled between advanced mode and normal mode of operation.
There are other outstanding steam engines available, but none as versatile as this one, with so many liveries and different versions included, and that can be used across such a wide variety of routes worldwide.
Plenty of different workshop scenarios are already available for this loco too, very different ones, for UK routes, US routes, German / Austrian routes - using many of the different versions of the engine.
It's the steam engine package that has something for almost anyone!
