I have only just bought the route as originally I felt the locomotive looked like it had an MSTS type texture. I was mistaken, now that I have the route I have found the locomotive looks to be far, far better. How one can be mistaken by looking at other peoples screen shots. Then again I am now playing with a good rig and have the graphics wound up fully and I have noticed an improvement in colours with the 64bit set-up on other routes. If you like steam locomotives and wonderfull scenery, then I can recommend this route.

This is a very good South African route, the scenery is awesome and very similar to the environment in this area where the route is build. This is a true South African route that I enjoy thoroughly and recommend. The route is challenging and this makes it well worth it.

Yeah, I bought this for the unique steam loco which is moderately okay. The route is actually well done, but there are VAST amounts of free running woods between any stops or signs of civilization. I don't like huge, long boring freight routes, and this sort of qualifies in that category. But if you just want to relax and run real long trips, this route does look and perform well.

Being a passionate enthusiast of South African steam, I was filled with anticipation when I acquired this addon. It is possibly the first comprehensive DLC offering both a South African Steam train (Class 24) and an actual steam route (George - Knysna). Upon initial loading, my excitement soared as the train model appeared impressive. However, upon inspecting the cab, I was disappointed to find it poorly modeled, perhaps one of the worst cab models encountered thus far. In fact, there are considerably better-modeled cabs available from as early as 2009. After experiencing this route multiple times, I have reached a conclusion. It genuinely presents a challenge with its steep gradients and evokes nostalgic feelings for those who have traveled the route in the past. The exterior of the locomotive is undeniably impressive, but the cab and rolling stock leave much to be desired. Consequently, I would recommend considering this purchase only if you seek a relatively time-consuming challenge.

This add-on route for TS2017 looks good on the outside, but looks can be decieving. Playing this is like taking a huge leap back to the days of Microsoft Train Simulator. The outside of the locomotive is actually very detailed and well done, which makes it all the more surprising that when you step into the cab, you're greeted by blocks and pixels, hard to read needles in the guages and all together bland colors. Very disappointing. The sounds are just as bad. They are the stock sounds we've all come to know (and probably all hate by now) from the beginning of this game. It sounds as bland and lifeless as it can sound, and don't get me started on all the rolling stock on the route. They might aswel be big boxes (or planks for flatbeds) on wheels, painted in the most monotone colors imaginable. A silver lining is that the route itself and the surroundings are actually pretty well made. It is a beautiful route, but the quality of this add-on is far from what is being released in recent times. I bought this add-on, because it is a steam locomotive add-on, and I'm such a fan of steam that I'll by it just because it is what it is. So if you just want to add a new steam locomotive to your collection, by all means buy it! But if you're looking for a quality made add-on, you're better off somewhere else.
