This is an amazing game for operating various trains across the globe. Its pretty easy to edit and customize your own trains and routes as well. Only downside is the DLC can be a bit expensive, but if you wait for a sale then thats not even an issue.

its a classic that's be serving since NJT was formed. made even better now that the ALP46 pack released the multilevels. good sounds, decend bell ok horn. i just wish the horn didn't auto trigger the bell. it also has a differn't more classic breaking system than the rest of the NJT stock.

Nevermind what I said before. I just found out that you have to look for the correct scripting for the cab car when making a train with this locomotive. (E.g. Look for the option called "[GP40]Comet V Cab Car" or [MT] Comet IV Cab Car (Diesel)."

3D modelling is good, as are the textures. The sounds are average as usual. Overall, I would say this is an average DLC for now (untill patched), as there is still an issue with the number lights: when lighted, the number boards will display nothing but bright light (alpha mask issue ?).

On sale, sure. Not for full price, it's too old with too little to offer in the pack for full price to be justifiable. The overall model looks really nice, but the sounds are yet again recycled from every friggin american commuter pack that DTG pushes out. It literally sounds just like the NJT F40 CAT pack, which is so very wrong. The commuter cars are the same Comet cars we see in literally all of the NJT packs, nothing special there. Physics are not an existing feature lol.

The New Jersey Transit GP40PH-2B is not a bad DLC, but is lacking in some areas. Unlike the F40PH-2CAT, it does not have a toggleable HEP engine. Like all NJT DLC, it has the run-of-the-mill Comet IV coaches and Comet V cab car (Which is configured as an electric locomotive, rendering it inoperable on non-electified routes). I was massively disappointed with that as I would've loved to see DTG produce another model of NJT coach, such as a Comet V or IIM trailer coach, or even a Comet IV cab car (Atlantic City Line trains often ran with Comet IV cabs; Hoboken Division trains are typically straight Comet Vs) to go with this DLC. I was disappointed that this model lacked opening windows or doors akin to most recent DTG offerings. The model quality is great as with most of DTG's offerings, and the sounds are generally of an acceptable standard (There are two payware sound packs for this engine). Physics are fine, but it would be best to download Fan Railer's physics mod. The included scenarios aren't the best, but the wintry Bay Head to Long Branch one should keep engineers on their toes. Finally, I can primarily recommend this DLC to NJ Transit diehard fans such as me. Overall score for this DLC is a 7/10.

The loco looks nice, unique to TS. Being used more extensively in real life, you can take it to most routes (Quick Drive). It can handle grades. Also used by 3 scenarios in the additional packs if you fancy those. Sounds are the usual F40 sounds, better than the stock SD40 but far from an EMD. Safety systems also trigger the UK warning sounds, from the old Class 47. Loud, scary and inappropriate. Comes with an old safety system device so you don't really know the aspect or speed limit. The self-lapped brakes apply so quickly, stuttering is an actual problem. Scenarios require you to ignore signaling and just race. Gets you fired IRL. Some timetable stops are impossible. With number boards missing, it's a fair bet that these were ran exactly 0 times during design & testing. Weather settings for the first scenario have been recently messed up. Comes with the standard NJCL wagons, not even a matching cab car. Somebody should fix it and then this would be a blast. The F40 pack complements the route better with focusing on the diesel section.
