It's not a bad route but rather limited. The battery electric loco can be a pain. the view from the cab is very poor so you end up driving from external view. At which point you are no longer monitoring the ammeter and voltmeter and end up stalling the loco after depleting the battery. I have taken to cloning the scenarios and swapping in the Class 14 Teddy Bear instead. A somewhat more lenient mode would have been nice. Also only buy this route if you like shuttling back and forth doing low speed shunting, as that's all that's really on offer rather than a more expansive run down the Cardiff Valleys.

It expands a bit on the Memories of Maerdy addon, but it's not a requirement. The Austerity and Type 3B are well done, and offer some interesting career scenarios. The route is accessible from Quick Drive. The DLC features your more advanced scripting you expect from MeshTools, and overall is a nice little addon if you're a fan of shunting.

This addon is among the best for this game, cream of the crop. The Austerities are excellently scripted and are a joy to drive, especially the advanced versions. The route itself is fantastic in concept, too. Going back to the same line at a later time to see how it's going (which is not well). This route also comes bundled with the impeccable 16T hoppers from MeshTools, which are the best pieces of rolling stock in TS. Definitely worth sticker price.

A great route with a great train! I like the way how DTG have really made the line look worn and the rough riding track has been simulated very well! We need more industrial routes in TS.

Fun little route and I really love the quirky little battery electric locomotive. Lots of shunting fun and mayhem to be had.

The content of this very nice DLC is a former industrial siding rising from Porth railway station through a narrow valley below Castell Nos dam and is set in the 1960s. The track is approximately 5 miles long and most of the missions take place at the end of the section, between the yard and the coal mine a little higher up. The section between the yard and the mine is very steep and requires some deliberation. The art itself is very detailed, the sounds of the locomotives and cars are good, better than many other DLCs. There is a WD Hunslet 0-6-0ST steam shunting locomotive with detailed workmanship (a simplified and advanced simulation model is available) and you need to learn to control water injection, steam control etc. There is also a unique English Electric Type 3B battery shunting locomotive dating back to the 1920s. It has very well crafted controls and can do quite a lot of work given its small power (only 100 HP). Overall I rate it 8/10. This is an unusual route and content different from most other DLC. xxxxxxxxxx Obsahem tohoto velmi pěkného DLC je bývalá průmyslová vlečka stoupající od nádraží ve městě Porth úzkým údolím pod přehradu Castell Nos a časově je zasazena do přibližně 60. let 20. století.

The locos are extroardinarily well done, very well simulated operations. Excellent train handling, everything well modeled, an all around great DLC in my opinion. If you're into steam or industrial operations, I think you'll enjoy it.

This is qutie an improvement from the old maerdy dlc. this is my experience with the dlc engines. the battery loco is quite, and powerful powerful, but not very fast; perfect for work in claustrophobic environments, and dock yards. the saddle tankengine is better than before, with fantastic physics, and the wheels stop spining, and slip when you apply the breaks, and slippery situation. over all the engines are great.

The route is an accurate Representation of what the Line looked like after Dr. Richard Beeching shut down the passenger portion of the line and gave their traffic to buses. The Engines, with exception of the Maerdy Monster, were the engines used in the Colliery until it's closure in 1984, with the last load coming down from the closed coliiery in 1985 before the rails were ripped up in 1986. The battery shunters are a ton of fun to drive, despite being slow and whatnot. they still capture that spirit of the Branchline in it's Twilight Glory years. I really find this fun. Driving trains down what is being represented-The end of an era. It does feel like the line truly is on it's last legs. As I write this review, I will say, it is an experience, both saddening and positive. Saddening because it is the end of an Era and positive because you can decide the fate of these engine. I found the route to be worth the money and then some. The engines, the wagons and the detail makes it worth it.
