A bit of a letdown, average sounds, terrible cabview (no handrails or sides of the hood visible). The included gondola is decent and does not seem to be as out of scale as the rest of the the US rolling stock that was included with the route. The loco is great for ai trains or static yard filler, maybe the occasional work train for a little variety.

I was hoping to enjoy this engine, but the way it's set up with its brakes along with the yard marshalling scenario where coal cars will not couple sometimes, I kind of wish I did stay away

Can´t understand the negative comments. I like this addon, Sound and Physics are good in my opinion. This Loco makes fun, The only contra Point there are only 3 Scenarios, but its a Problem of most DTG LocoAddons.

Adding a 10th review to unlock rating. Overall a mixed bag, as seen from other reviews. I enjoyed it. (+) The bodywork is nice, sounds are reused but as a triple lashup can be very enjoyable. (-) The included scenarios are realistic (sturdy yard power), but overall feel a bit few. Also, GP9 replay vibes. (+) Elphaba / High Iron has at least two scenarios visiting the IPPX facility and some climbing (GWD279 and 286) which round out the experience. (?) Cab view is tiny, so I just drove everything with Shift+2. Scenery is pretty, so neutral, not a downside. (+) Kind of a unique unit, quite suitable for branch operations. Note its 1750 horses compared to newer models.

I like the GP9 but I have to say this SD9 is better because it has more horsepower for pulling the freight which is very handy to have when going up steep grades.Looks good and sounds great also drives and breaks very well so yes I recommend the locomotive.

It's a nice engine, looks good at the outside. The cab is very sober and functional. I played two scenarios. They are a bit short but not very average for scenarios. It is nice to have some shunting scenarios in the huge Provo yard area. I would not have payed the full proce, but with a 70% boxing day discount it is a nice addition.

Apart from the quality of the 3D model which is excellent, this DLC is a bit of a disappointment. The only bad thing about the 3D model is the lack of snow effect like on the SD40T-2 and GP9, and the lack of opening doors and windows. The sounds are unfinished. The sound of dynamic braking is missing (no sound when dynamic braking is active nor any indication of the amperage on the HUD). Actually, it looks like there is no dynamic braking at all. operating the dynamic brakes either from the HUD or the control inside the cab does'nt do anything. This is an other DLC with the so called "advanced" brake script. I personally dislike this script, as it is so laggy as to usually work eratically, not responding properly to input on the HUD. I've been experiencing a problem with the couplers in the 1st career scenario: after a while, the coupling does no longer work, making the scenario impossible to finish. Saving and reloading the scenario does'nt correct the issue; What is needed is to quit TS completely, then restart the game to have the couplers working again. By the way, this first scenario is really basic and unrefined: only a "marshalling" instruction and that's all. This really looks like an unfinished product. I would recommend to get it only when on sale, as in this state, it is not worth the full price.
